You can tell Cranberry junction has retained it's charm and style over the years, standing tall as a staple of the town with a nice grassy sitting area out front and some picnic tables on the side to enjoy your ice cream. I tried their Nutella ferrero rocher flavor but ended up going with my typical, a large Oreo milkshake. It was 22oz so it was huge and I definitely enjoyed it. I'd have to say their ice cream is a bit less sweet comparatively than others but it's still good. Definitely a nice after dinner spot as the place got busy quick.

What a cute little ice cream shop. They have all kinds of unique flavors and whats better is that they have vegan specials. I've dragged my husband couple of times and I'm surprised and delighted with their selection. Their special changed all the time so you don't get stuck with the same flavor. It's honestly refreshing to be able to try different options each time. My only issue is the vegan cone crumbled so easily. See you again soon.

Cranberry Junction 19 Temple Ave. Hackensack, NJ 07601 Grape Nuts As I perused their ice cream flavors and saw they offered a fiber cereal mixed with ice cream, my initial reaction was, "What the heck are they thinking!" Thankfully, the owners allow customers to sample any of their unique flavors; all it took was one spoon tasting and I was in for a treat! The ice cream was really creamy and the grape nuts gave it a mild crunch. I couldn't believe how delicious the cereal tasted.

All staff members were very friendly. They had a good variety of ice cream flavors including gluten free and vegan. The butter pecan ice cream was sweet and creamy. Also tried vanilla chocolate chip which was also really good. No inside seating but a bunch of picnic tables outside.

Took Bissy Elliott for a sweet treat at Cranberry Junction Ice Cream in Hackensack, NJ. Nothing beats enjoying ice cream together on a sunny day. Cranberry Junction offers homemade ice cream in a really cute (and historical) venue. Everyone there was super friendly and absolutely loved my puppy face. I will say that the prices are a little high for ice cream, but perfect for an every once in a while treat.

Stopped by Cranberry Junction Ice Cream and had a good first visit! I got a cone with two scoops--one Oreo (playing it safe) and one Rum (going a little outside the box). The Oreo was everything you'd want--creamy, sweet, and packed with cookie chunks. Definitely a solid, classic flavor I'd get again. The Rum, on the other hand, wasn't for me. I'm not a big fan of rum or alcohol flavors in general, so that one didn't hit the mark--but that's more on me for taking the risk than on the ice cream itself. Lesson learned! There's plenty of parking right out front which made it super easy to pop in and out. Overall, a cute spot with a lot of flavors to choose from. I'm definitely planning to go back and try more--next time I'll explore new flavors but maybe skip anything with alcohol in the name

Cookie Monster and Cherry Vanilla Double Scoop on a Waffle Cone

How can one ever say anything bad about an ice cream shop? I'm not about to start now. Cranberry Junction is an interestingly located, local ice cream shop in Hackensack sitting (literally) right next to the NJ transit train tracks. If lucky, which you should be if you're slowly enjoying your delicious ice cream on a sweltering day, you'll get to witness an NJ transit train pass by within inches of you behind the shop, right next to the picnic tables outside. Let's just say the kids love it. As for the shop itself, the parking lot is spread across outside of the shop and when you arrive, you'll immediately find yourself in possibly one of the tightest spaces you've ever been in to get some ice cream. For those with a tight waistline, you'll be fine, but, for those like me, suck in those guts if you want to get around inside. Although the shop is somewhat long length-wise, it can barely fit 2 people across width-wise - as was the case when we showed up. Fortunately, we got super lucky and showed up around 6:45pm on the Sunday evening of Father's Day when there was yet to be a line. 10 minutes later though it was a much different story at 15 DEEP waiting to get in. YIKES. There are 2 menus on the wall - one for the ice cream flavors and toppings and the other for the different cone/cup sizes/smoothies/shakes. There were a plethora of flavors to choose from, and not too many crazy ones, which is sometimes a good thing. Since the shop is so tight, they clearly state that there is a limit of only 2 samples per customer to keep the line moving. We probably could have sampled a good 5-8 flavors, but, due to the restriction, we ended up getting the Cookie Monster and Cherry Vanilla double scoop waffle cone. Can never go wrong with a waffle cone as the vessel. To say that my kids loved the ice cream would be an understatement, although when do kids ever say they don't like ice cream???? For us, solid, solid flavors. Didn't knock my socks off in any way or make me want to eat it until I popped a pants button, but this was some good, delicious, refreshing ice cream. Also, it helped that they had a large picnic table area outside, so we could enjoy the ice cream on a beautiful evening. And, for the kids, there's a large grassy area as well so they (or yourselves) can run around to lose some of the weight after devouring your order. Overall, good, solid ice cream. There were definitely some flavors (e.g., rum raisin, dulce del leche, banana walnut) I wanted to try that we didn't get a chance to, so will absolutely be back again some time and I don't think I have to ask my kids twice :)

Finally visited after passing by this place many times. Prices fair and probably on-par with most other ice cream places like this...maybe a bit higher. I thought the ice cream was good...not bad, not great...maybe 3/5. I did exect better given the prices. I was a bit disappointed in the icee...we were given once where the entire icee was the dark sugary part you tend to find on the bottom of icee bins. Noticed after leaving and didn't want to make the effort to return for an exchange. Given the price...I'd expect better. Staff was friendly. A bunch of picnic-benches on the outside and garbage bins. Adequate parking lot for most crowds.

This little ice cream shop is as adorable as can be! Just cute! It's not all shiny chrome and bright inside- but the vibe is cute, quaint, and gives an old time feel nevertheless! I tried the Dulce de leche and it was delicious! The guy who helped us and was possibly the owner was super kind and really just down to earth! Such a cute cozy ice cream spot. Stopped by for an impromptu date night. Wish it was warmer so we could've sat outside on the tables they have. We ordered a waffle cone and medium cup to go. The caramel chocolate pretzel ice cream is delicious a must have! The cake batter is also a delicious flavor. Also tried the banana pudding flavor and it was different but nothing I'd love to get again. Cherry vanilla was pretty good too. We we definitely be back during the summer months!

Ice cream is my weakness. Found this place on yelp and saw the great reviews. Went on a Sunday afternoon, wasn't too hot outside. They have a parking lot by the train tracks. Inside is really tiny, but they do have an outdoor seating area. Ordered a double scoop of dulce de leche and butter pecan in a cup with a lid. I ended up eating this in my car which was no more than 8 steps away from the door. Might I add, I had the AC on. It was so hard to take the lid off because the ice cream was already soft. Half of it wanted to come off with the lid. If I wanted soft ice cream, I would've gotten soft serve or frozen yogurt. Nothing to rave about. I would not come back here again. read more

Hands down the best ice creamery in Bergen County, beating out other favorites including Bischoff's, Baumgart's, and Ben&Jerry's. Premium homemade creamy goodness. Not too sweet, full of flavor and fresh! I keep coming back for their mint chip, vanilla chip, rocky road, and my husband for their Cookie Monster. I've only found out about this place recently but it has quickly turned as our go to for ice cream moving forward for one very important and wonderful reason. COFFEE! Cranberry Junction Ice Cream has the best, hands down, coffee ice cream I've ever tasted. It tastes like they took a delicious cup of espresso and magically transformed it into ice cream. This is the most natural tasting coffee flavor I've ever had in a coffee ice cream and I feel like anyone who loves a strong bustelo or espresso should drive on down and taste this ice cream before they close up for the winter. Pro Tip: Pour a shot of espresso over the ice cream for a magical coffee adventure. read more

We had a great experience here. The Cookie Monster is delicious even though I suspect it's just cookies and cream ice cream with blue dye. We liked the banana flavor too. Cranberry junction is a cute little mom and pop Ice cream store. The inside is very small but it is a great place to visit on a nice day where you can enjoy your ice cream outside. The man working the counter mentioned that they are looking to expand what they offer to include smoothies and other items. Unfortunately one of the freezers was broken when we visited however the two flavors we did try were rich and the helping was generous for a cheap price. I will definitely be back! read more

I had the Hazelnut gelato, my husband had the cherries & cream both were absolutely amazing. It was an extremely hot Sunday at noon and I was delighted to see other customers there. Driving through main street and you see this little red cottage in the distance and dont think much of it, but here you find a hidden gem when you are craving an ice cream. With a great assortment of choices and a great staff, they are only a compliment the great tasting flavors. Truly homemade and absolutely delicious, you cant go wrong. This may be the best ice cream I have ever eaten, and I do not say that lightly. Insane bursts of flavor in both the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter. Innovative creations like banana pudding and cookie monster. Friendly, generous portions, reasonable prices. This is a gem. DO NOT MISS! UPDATE: Not a fluke. Very cute little place and the location is easy to get to and park. Their outdoor picnic tables are appreciated. A bit disorganized with the help, but the ice cream is so good, with many creative flavors, especially the grandkiddies, for example - s'mores. Mine was banana and others the cherry vanilla. My kids and I LOVE this place!!! First of, the place is really cute. It's small inside but they have so much ice cream to pick from: cherry vanilla, cookie dough, s'mores, rocky road (made with walnuts not almonds), and my personal favorite: Cookie Monster. Cookie Monster is blue like the puppet and it has two kinds of cookies in there and the portions are generous! The owner is so nice no matter what time of day you come in! They give you a punch card because you'll get ice cream on your ninth visit. And trust me, you'll go back. The ice cream is homemade and don't have any added sugars. They are also open late! This is definitely one of my favorite places in Hackensack. There is seating outside and they have umbrellas out for the extra sunny or rainy days. Make sure you go!! read more

This place might have good ice cream I dont know...and never will find out....on my first visit I got a large shaved ice...with lemon flavoring... There was black specks of something throughout the ice.....had a few spoonfulls before i got to the specks.... I threw it out . Who knows it could have been black mold in the rarely used ice shaving machine.... . I went back in and showed the young lady she said maybe its from the lemon flavoring...which is translucent.....with yellow tinge... . let the buyer beware...... read more

Wow! Drove by and saw the same for homemade ice cream, turned around to try it. And am I glad I did ! I had the Banana pudding , nice chunks of banana and vanilla wafers , sooooo yummy . Chocolate was Devine ! My son has cookies and cream and cake batter both of which he loved ! Give this place a try and you will definitely become a fan . Owner is super friendly , very engaging . The cashiers were great at making the hot beverages, and they asked if we had a rewards program with them. We gave them our phone numbers, and it turned out none of us had signed up or that they expired. Here's what we purchased: - Cafe Mocha - 5/5 stars. Perfect balance of espresso and chocolate. The barista even made a heart on top. Although the lid covered it, the gesture was appreciated. - Cold Brew - 5/5 stars. Smooth and refreshing. - Chausson aux Pommes - 4/5 stars. A French apple turnover with a perfectly crisp crust and tender, flavorful apples that weren't mushy. - Croissant Donut - 5/5 stars. Flaky, buttery croissant-like in shape of a donut, filled with custard that was bright due to the citrus, and well-balanced between sweet and savory. - Blueberry & Cream Brioche - 5/5 stars. Their crust was crispy and light. It was an indulgent treat that was well balanced as the custard was rich, soft, and just sweet enough without being heavy. Patrons can help themselves to cream, milk, utensils, and napkins, which is convenient. The seating is roomy and relaxing, perfect for lingering over coffee and pastries. It's located in the Home Depot strip mall. Parking is usually easy on weekdays, but weekends can get a little hectic. Overall, this visit completely changed my opinion of Paris Baguette. The coffee and pastries were impeccable, and the environment made for a pleasant, stress-free experience. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby.

For those new to yogurt drinks or the Hey Yogurt chain, I can approximate descriptions of the taste by comparing it to kefir or fruity yogurt, but this is truly its own thing - tart, tangy, and luscious. After my first sip (and the four more that I compulsively took after that, because it's pretty addictive), I found myself telling my husband, "It's such a happy tasting drink." There's some level of customization available. For instance, the strawberry yogurt drink we got was at half sweetness and there was an option to add more strawberries for an added surcharge. The half sweetness level was best for us, but the hardest part about coming here for the first time is trying to figure out what your version of a perfect drink might be. There are a few narrow benches around the perimeter of the lobby space, which are probably a better fit for waiting and/or having a beverage than for having a full on dessert. A posted sign recommended bingsoo customers eating their desserts immediately for optimal flavor, but there aren't any tables to comfortably sit and enjoy. That said, the people are incredibly nice. While my husband and I enjoyed our drink, the guy at the counter overheard us chatting about the desserts and offered to show us some of their selections. This is Main Street on Hackensack, so the ease of finding parking will be subject to however many (paid) street parking spots are available (and I usually have to drive around at least a few minutes before finding one).
