    DocBand graduate
    Helen P.

My baby had Torticollis and kept favoring one side while sleeping so she developed a slight flattening on one side. She was just under 6 months when we had our first consultation. Cranial Tech said her case was "severe" based on the numbers. Her Cranial Vault Asymmetry was 9.0 mm. Our insurance approved the DocBand, with $1k out of pocket, which was kindda steep, but we moved forward. Baby had red marks on her forehead and head initially and I was skeptical about the treatment - for a moment I felt like I got caught up with their "sales pitch"... and didn't really want to have her in the DocBand 23 hours a day. We almost quit the DocBand a week or so in. But then we realized we should stick to it since we'll only have one chance to really correct her head shape while she's so young. Decided to "embrace" the DocBand, got bows and Velcro and a sticker from Amazon to accessorize it and had her wear it for about 22 hours a day for just under 6 weeks before she "graduated" and didn't need to wear it anymore! We did take it off in the morning to wipe her head and clean the helmet in addition to the 1-hr break later in the day. With the weekly adjustments, the redness was not so apparent anymore and she would occasional get a slight pinkness in certain areas. They actually added moleskin to one of the areas on her forehead that used to get really red - that really helped! In hindsight we're so glad we stuck to it. The "after" image is really telling - and her Cranial Vault Asymmetry went from 9mm to 4mm!

This image is his scans laid on top of each other. The helmet salesperson was a liar. We did not make things worse. GET A SECOND OPINION!!!

At my son's four month appt with his pediatrician, she noted some flattening and recommended we get a helmet consult. We went to CT, and they said he was in the moderate-severe range for plagiocephaly and scaphocephaly. They told us he would need two helmets and that it would take about six months to correct. They said he would have dental problems, he wouldn't be able to wear sports helmets, glasses wouldn't fit him right. They said he'd have permanent issues unless we helmeted. They used such strong scare tactics that I went and got a second opinion from one of UCLA's pediatric craniofacial doctors (they are here in LA, but on the west side). She said our son looked moderate and recommended repositioning and physical therapy. After a few months, I had his head rescanned. The helmet salesperson at CT said we made it worse and then reiterated their scary sales pitch. They'll claim that the only way to correct a misshapen head is with their helmet but research shows that babies untreated and babies helmeted have the EXACT SAME OUTCOME by two years old. They take credit for something nature does all on its own. Please take a look at the two scans CT did. I laid them on top of one another to see what changes repositioning and physical therapy had on his head shape. Cranial Tech is unethical for telling us we made our baby's head worse. GET A SECOND OPINION!!!

Cranial Technologies was the third party company our primary pediatric doctor referred us to to help with my twins misshaped heads. Our doctor was concerned about their flat heads and asymmetric face alignment. Appointment was easy to make. The staff were really friendly. They make your kids really comfortable. They did a scan of the kiddos heads, which requires them to wear a stocking like head wrap and a bunch of pictures. Their program generates a 3d image of your kids head and face afterwards and you discuss the results with them. I do not think the person explaining the results was an actual doctor, she was more of a scare you to death saleperson. After all the pictures and analysis of the results they said my kids heads were moderate to severe misshaped and would need helmets for 6-12 months. Luckily I had to get a referral from an actual cranial doctor for my HMO to cover part of the helmet. Our cranial doctor said their shapes were not that bad and adjustments made at home could fix the shape overtime. She did put in the referral for the helmets so we could see the price, $2500 each! We went with the doctors suggestions and luckily did not waste our money on the helmets. 5 months later, their heads are back on track and shaped fine. Remember that the people here are here to sell you their product. So the excellent service is to make you want to buy their stuff. I gave them a 1 star because I did not like the fact that their "insurance team" (basically a saleperson telemarketer) called me every other day to see if we made a decision on the helmet and kept trying to schedule us for the next step of the process. I told them we needed time to think and they would constantly call. It was getting pretty annoying at the end. They ended up leaving me a final voicemail saying your referral will expire and you will have to redo it again. In the end, Cranial Technologies and just a company trying to sell you a product that you probably do not need. If you there are issues with your infants head development, I would see a pediatric cranial doctor before you fall into this expensive trap!

From the moment you walk in, the environment is impeccably clean, calm, and thoughtfully designed--it strikes the perfect balance between medical office and a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive, taking the time to explain each treatment in a way that feels both informative and reassuring. I typically come in for B12 shots, (I recommend the Honey Badger) , and the process is quick, seamless, and handled with great care. Efficiency, level of professionalism, and attention to detail is what you receive throughout the entire visit. I've personally noticed a meaningful improvement in my energy levels and overall sense of well-being following my treatments. Equally important, I feel completely confident in the safety and quality of care provided here. Scheduling is easy. You can call or check the schedule online. Appointments run on time, and every interaction reflects a high standard of service. You park in the same lot with A LOT of restaurants. You need the code to get into the office building. No appointments passed 5pm and not Saturdays. I will absolutely continue coming back.

During my delivery, Dr. Edward Merchant allowed my due date to lapse significantly. On the day of delivery, I was ignored for hours following the departure of the head nurse. Despite my deteriorating condition, Dr. Merchant refused to intervene and went to sleep in the physician's rest area. A code was eventually called when my blood pressure dropped dangerously low. My previous physician, who was on call, had to intervene to perform a crash emergency C-section. Furthermore, Dr. Merchant falsified my medical records by documenting the event as a "normal uneventful delivery." It was an emergency crash C-section as confirmed by the nurses to me the following day. In a subsequent emergency room visit for a severe allergic reaction, I was dismissed by the triage nurse, Maryann Magdaleno, RN, and sent back to a filthy, crowded waiting room for hours. I eventually went home and was called back at 3:00 AM, at which point my blood pressure was 60/0. While my chart indicates I was seen by a Dr. Stinnett, I never saw a physician during that visit. Despite reporting these incidents to the appropriate oversight agencies and the BRN, I have not received a satisfactory resolution. The hospital has continued to stonewall requests for information regarding staffing schedules and this particular nurse on call that night. I am formally expressing my concerns regarding the unethical and unprofessional conduct I recently experienced from Huntington Hospital medical staff. This behavior compromised my safety and fell well below the expected medical standards for their scope of practice. It is essential that the personnel involved are held accountable for these actions to ensure that future patients do not encounter the same lack of care and professionalism. I trust that you will take the necessary steps to address this matter. These experiences were devastating, and I cannot recommend Huntington Hospital to anyone seeking safe or professional medical care.

I started working with Mark Men's Health around mid-November, so it's been about four months now,…read moreand I can genuinely say the experience has been a game changer. When I first came in, they ran a baseline panel, which was incredibly helpful. I'm in my late thirties, and I learned that my levels were actually below the optimal threshold, something I wouldn't have fully understood without their guidance. That initial clarity alone made the process worth it. For context, I've been consistently working out since I was 22, so about 16 years. I came in already feeling in shape but felt like I had plateaued in many areas in my life, but with very specific goals around increasing muscle mass and optimizing performance and feeling healthier overall. Since starting, I've seen dramatically real, measurable gains in muscle mass (9 lbs in muscle mass), along with noticeable improvements in strength and recovery. Since starting, I've not just seen clear, measurable gains in muscle mass but also dramatic increases in strength. Some of my major lifts have improved by roughly 40-60%, which is something I hadn't experienced in years despite consistent training. Beyond the physical changes, the impact on my overall well-being has been significant. My mood is more stable and positive, my energy is up, and there's been a clear improvement in my sexual health and relationship to my body. I feel more connected, more confident, and overall just healthier. What I also really appreciate is that this hasn't felt like a siloed approach to health. I've been working in tandem with my primary care physician, and when I shared the protocols and care I'm receiving at The Mark, my PCP was genuinely impressed with the level of attention, safety, and medical oversight Mark Men's Health provides. That gave me an extra layer of confidence that I'm doing this the right way. And I have to say, the staff here is exceptional. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. They take the time to answer every question, never rush you, and operate at a very high level of professionalism. The facility itself reflects that same standard, clean, modern, and thoughtfully run. I would highly recommend this to anyone, at any age, who is curious about where their levels are and how they can feel better in their body. It's not just about numbers, it's about working with a team that's invested in helping you improve your quality of life in a real, sustainable way.

A pharmacist came out and said they closed at 8 pm. Before leaving work, I checked the hours in three places online, including Google and Kaiser's own website in two different spots. All said 9 pm. It takes minutes to update hours online so you are not wasting people's time and money. That is basic integrity. There were two people inside waiting and she said they were urgent care patients, so they stay open until 9 pm for urgent care. Given that they had not updated their hours, you would think they could take two minutes to grab my prescription. I had received the text that it was ready and had just driven an hour to pick it up. Integrity feels rare these days. There are things I like about Kaiser and things that are ludicrous. Pros: everything is in one building. Referrals are easier than they used to be. Many appointments can be done online, which is a huge timesaver. The mental health practitioners I have interacted with have been kind and caring. Things that need improvement: I was on a waitlist for over a year to get a therapist. Now that I have one, appointments are still hard to get because there are very few available. My doctor recently had me do labs to change medication. I checked the results myself and saw I have hypothyroidism. No one called me to explain this. I only realized it because I looked up what the labs meant. When I read the symptom list and saw I have nearly all of them, I was shocked I had never been tested before. Ladies, get your hormones checked. Women's health care is still lacking. Which brings me to my IUD insertion. It was so agonizing I almost passed out, so they sent me home with medication to dilate before trying again. What they did not tell me is that the dilation medication caused worse pain than when I had kidney stones. Kaiser does not provide localized pain relief for IUD insertions, and I had already taken the maximum dose of ibuprofen. The first attempt was 40 minutes of agony. The second attempt involved 4 hours of severe dilation pain followed by another 35 minutes of insertion. That does not include the long wait times. They need better training or actual pain management for women. Lastly, I needed an EKG before starting a new medication. When I called, there were no appointments available for weeks, but my doctor needed it within a week. She told me to go to the Pasadena nurse clinic as a walk in and gave me the hours. I booked the far out appointment just in case and went as a walk in. The receptionist said they could not fit me in because they were full and only open two more hours. I asked when to come back and returned at the time he suggested. He then said the nurse who does EKGs would be leaving in an hour and could not see me. This was the second time I had followed their instructions and been turned away. I had rented a car just to get there. He sent me to Glendale. I drove 45 minutes in rush hour and arrived just before closing. The nurse there told me Pasadena should not have sent me away and that they are supposed to take walk ins but keep sending patients to Glendale. They were incredibly kind and saw me even though they were close to closing. I know Kaiser employees likely work in a tough, fast paced system. But with the massive amounts of money insurance companies make, you would think there would be more efficient care, accessible mental health services, better women's health care, updated hours, and policies that are actually honored. Too often patients are treated like cattle, rushed through to get to the next. Wouldn't it be nice if health care actually cared? A gal can dream...
