Daisy L. is right on the mark! I told my family about my situation with Crate and Barrel during Thanksgiving. My sister told me about this wonderful website so I thought I'd share this with everyone. USE THIS STORE AS A SHOWROOM ONLY AND THEN GO HOME AND PURCHASE ON THE INTERNET! To be fair I am not going to use anyone's actual name but I will say her name begins with "S". She wasn't wearing a nametag and bragged she wasn't required to wear one because she was a designer. I visited the store in late summer and their "designer" upstairs verbally attacked me for taking photographs with my digital camera. She saw my camera earlier and said nothing when I tried in vain to ask her a question about a red cabinet they sell at Four Hands for more than half the price CB sells it for but she was more concerned to talk about the Harry Potter book with one of her co-workers. She completely ignored me being fully aware I needed assistance. Four Hands insists CB gets the cabinets and several tables directly from them. Not just the Austin store but all the CB stores. Sorry but paying $600 more for an item just to tell everyone I know it came from CB is mentally unhealthy. Back to the designer and my digital camera infraction. When she saw me snap a photo of the Four Hands cabinet she flipped out on me. For a brief moment I actually felt physically threatened. She bolted down her ladder and tried to intimidate me like a bully with her arms crossed when I attempted to plead my case because I simply wanted to provide real photos to my designer. (Interestingly, my designer told me they are not actually credentialed designers at all but have enjoyed calling themselves designers for years). This "designer" became so physically threatening and argumentative a sales clerk had to intervene and explained the policy in a way that made some degree of sense although I still don't agree with the policy. I'm sorry but if someone tried to copy a Crate and Barrel in Austin a few years ago it's simply not my problem and they shouldn't punish their customers for it. Of course I stopped taking photos because they asked me to. However, still more nastiness came from the designer as I attempted to explain my purpose for the photos and tried to ask permission if I could sign something to take responsibility and make assurances the photos wouldn't get into the wrong hands. When I lowered my voice to hopefully try and calm the designer she accused me of patronizing her! For me personally all of this became much more about how I was treated in their store and how their employee spoke to me rather than the actual issue of taking the photos. It was such a surprise and so far out of line because this seems to be a company that invests a large amount of capital to maintain its image if the multitude of catalogs I receive from CB alone are any indication. Usually the preprinted retouched perfectly lighted catalog shots just don't stand up in real world room settings. I just wanted to drop about twenty grand in their store and this designer told me it didn't matter and she really didn't care. Yes, she used precisely those words. On top of that when I circled back around ten minutes later I overheard her talking to the clerk that intervened suggesting she not tell a manager what had happened. I walked right over and reported the situation to the store manager who basically rolled her eyes at me as I spoke because she seemed so tired like she had already heard it all before. The poor manager was seated at a dining table display and was sweating profusely. She appeared as if she was in her final week of pregnancy and probably shouldn't have even been at work. I began feeling bad for her and I wasn't going to risk upsetting a pregnant woman so I went to the escalator at the same time noticing the designer eavesdropping nearby and giving me the evil eye the entire time I was speaking with her manager. I might go into the store to buy Christmas ornaments but that's it. And believe me, DON'T EVER GO INTO THIS STORE WITH A DIGITAL CAMERA AND TAKE PHOTOS. THEY WILL PROBABLY THROW YOU OUT! Sorry, I didn't mean it to turn this into a venting session. It was just so bizarre and I guess it's still with me. I've shopped at both Manhattan stores and the big store in Chicago and this store in Austiin is nothing like them. I can't believe its the same company for that matter. No other CB store has threatened to throw me out if I took photographs. Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and Star Furniture have no problems with cameras in their stores because I've since called the managers and asked. The designer told me Gordon himself would throw me out if he saw me take photos. That might have some impact if I knew who the hell Gordon was! If I could put ZERO STARS I would, this has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a retailer. I've been waiting 5 weeks for not just a Duvet cover but my 2000 dollar bed frame. I've spoken to customer care at least 7 times and constantly being pushed off to just wait yet again for a delay date that continues to be reset for a later date. My boyfriend has asked for legal documents of their procedures when situations like this come up and they have refused to send us anything or give us a name of a higher up leadership. We were also given a 10 percent discount for our inconvenience BUT, come to find out it was then deleted and reversed. This bed frame is a two piece frame that no one can figure out why it's taken 5 weeks to communicate both ware houses to get it here on the date it was scheduled. If anyone is considering buying from this retailer maybe reconsider because they obviously don't value or take consideration that if we are spending this outrageous amount of money people expect better customer service and also their promised dates of delivery to be met. read more

The worst customer service and it starts with Janice the customer service manager. We recently got married and had 90% of our registry items come from Crate and Barrel, including all of our silverware and serving sets. We love everything and make sure to hand wash it as we want to keep it for decades and not years. Unfortunately, one of the items has rusted pretty badly over the last couple of months despite the hand washing. The item is the Scissor Handled Serving Tongs (SKU: 307807) which sells for $14.95. My wife brought the item in with hopes Crate and Barrel would replace the tongs without any hassle but boy were we wrong. The associate at the counter tried getting the rust off with their silver cleaner which she didn't have much success doing (we had also tried before as we own polish cleaner). The associate then went to the back to ask her manager if she could replace them and the manager said no without even coming out. Not only did the manager say no, but then the associate has the nerve to come back and now try and sell my wife polish cleaner (nice try Crate and Barrel!). Fast forward 30 minutes when I call into the store to speak to the manager. Another manager answered and asked if I would wait on hold while (Janice) finished up another call. After about 10 minutes of holding, Janice (the manager who denied the replacement earlier) answers the phone without saying hi or anything and yells into the phone "Sir bring the tongs in and we will just replace them" and acts like she is about to hang up the phone! I said no no no! It's too late for that now. Why does it take me calling in and complaining for you to all of a sudden allow us to replace the tongs? She said that we didn't hand wash them and that's why she didn't allow the return originally. Thanks for essentially calling me a liar Janice. She then said she would ship them to me but was being very sarcastic and rude on the phone and kept talking over me. Which forced me to yell to try and talk over her as she kept cutting me off. After about 5-7 minutes she finally got down all of my information to ship us a new pair of tongs. Maybe not a big deal to others, but why be stingy over an item under $15 when we have spent thousands of dollars at your store in the past and have been loyal customers? And then your "customer service" manager is the one being sarcastic to customers? No thank you, I will not be back to this store or to any other Crate and Barrels. Such a shame too because I have many friends getting married within the next year and I will promise you that I will steer them towards other stores and have them avoid Crate and Barrel. This review is long overdue. First, don't buy furniture from Crate and Barrel. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." We should have learned our lesson the first time, but we have purchased multiple pieces and have ALWAYS had an issue. Whether it's shipping delays or damaged product, something goes wrong. It's such a shame because C&B furniture is so beautiful, but resist the urge! It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you do order furniture, you most likely will NOT get it in time or if you do, the furniture will be damaged. The C&B supply chain is completely f***** and the way this company does business is unbelievably dysfunctional. The only thing that is guaranteed is if you walk into the store and buy something directly off the shelf. I think I've learned my lesson with furniture but we'll see... read more

I am rating Crate and Barrel store on service. Not furniture. I love Crate and Barrel furniture. I've spent enough to buy a nice car here. Their furniture is good quality, ONLY if you buy upstairs in the Furniture Collection. The downstairs is crap and you might as well buy from Ikea. It is overpriced veneered particle board that requires assembly. It should be a lesson to everyone that assembly required typically means poor quality furniture. So when I go shopping, I look like a bum. Wait, I look like the typical Austinite in the summer: shorts, t shirt and flip flops. I go upstairs and no one wants to help me and finally a lady helps me. She is VERY NICE TO ME NOW, but first impressions I could tell she felt like she was wasting her time. Now that I've provided her a big commission, she helps me out a lot. But then again, it shouldn't be that way.... So even though I've bought a lot, I've had to return things twice. Each time I've returned something, I've been rude too. Once they said I had no intention of even buying the first item. Second time I returned (a downstairs lamp....sigh never again) and they accused me of not thinking about my style before hand. The second time it was the manager that was rude to me. I have to agree that they are rude. Unfortunately, they are they only Crate and Barrel in town. The other reviewer with the comical experience caused me to write this review because I believe she is on to something. And it was amusing and entertaining to read too, lol. Yes, thank goodness for the C&B website. Simply stated, do not go to this store in the C&B chain if you are seeking ideas and inspiration. And don't ask their designers for suggestions either. And yes it's true like the other reviewer stated they are not really professional designers. I inquired after reading that review. After a screetching and artificially extended laugh heard throughout the store and likely into the parking lot, the downstairs manager confirmed they have no formal education in design. Apparently others have asked her about the previous Yelp review because she seemed ready for me. I was told the instructions come from Chicago and the merchandisers have to cram everything in to make it fit. But hey, if they can accomplish it imaginatively downstairs then why not upstairs too and she agreed. I complimented her that the downstairs always looks great and she admitted the merchandiser is different and eventually admitted defensively but apologetically they do have a few communication problems in their design departments. Apparently there is some kind of deep rooted internal designer war going on from how it all sounds. "Designer Death Match" it seems. Wow. And while I'm at it, could the managers at this store please please stop forcing your upstairs employees to follow me and ask me so many times if they can help me? Jeez! The hardest part of visiting this store is being harrassed so many times while I try to shop. Just when your train of thought is exactly where you need it to be, there they are. I'd get hassled less if I went to a Hyundai car dealership. Try to get these same clerks to ring Christmas close outs and they tell you they will not unless you buy something from upstairs then they will agree to do it. Is that even legal? Check it out this Christmas and see for yourself. I really do love C&B and shop online and at their stores in other cities often. Those store's displays are imaginative and provoke thought and ideas. The Austin store (upstairs) on the other hand really is a mess in comparison and is very confusing with the positioning and placement of items and color combinations that make very little sense. It's organized like a flea market. I visited the store during their charity opening so I know how great the furniture can look if they cared. If this Austin store could represent the upstairs and downstairs consistently I could at least leave the store with some decent ideas about more than just kitchen items. Check out the store in the Galleria and you'll see the difference. Or the store in Denver or Atlanta. My other reason for giving such a low rating is due to customer service or rather the lack of it, again at this location, and definitely not the chain in general. I required customer assistance twice in a week's time and each time the woman managing customer service ran and hid in her office. She sat very quietly in her little side office, became serenely still like a statue not making a sound and tried to wait for me to go away. She didn't know I could see her and I entertained myself for a few minutes noticing her do this in the mirror displayed alongside her office door. Eventually she dragged herself out of the chair and over to the counter and offered me the absolute bare minimum of service. But hey, people have bad days and she's entitled to hers too right? Well.... The following week it was the same exact situation except this time she was in her office again and wouldn't put down her magazine until I cleared my throat several times. It was almost devastating to her that she had no choice but to grant me her assistance again. Maybe she was on break or something but I wasn't told if that was the case. Either way it just wasn't a good experience. A person not familiar with most C&B stores would likely not want to return. So yeah, definitely Internet all the way for me now so long as our Austin store is like it is. Thank you read more

Hmm so my review is more-so on the online aspect, although I visited this store and have to say they are either way understaffed or really don't want to offer much help...frankly it could be a bit of both. If you order anything online that can ship in a box, then do it. Their packaging is really well-done and nothing gets scratched or banged up. It probably borders on wasteful, but just donate it to a friend that's moving and you've done your recycling part. They have great items at CB and CB2, by the way. I heart both. If you order furniture, I learned of an interesting quirk they don't really tell you and that's not readily apparent on the order. Call 3 days in advance and reschedule if there is any point in the day when you will not be available on the shipping date between 7 am and 7 pm. Here is what happens: CB (and CB2) tells you that they will call to organize a ship date. Great, and they do! They let you know they will call you two (2) days before the ship date the 2 hour window they will be delivering furniture to your home. Great, and they do! They leave a message saying ok, we are delivering your items between 1-3, for example. You call back to say, whoops, I can't make that time slot, how about 9-12 or any other point in the day other than 1-3? Nope, no way, no how, and NO NEGOTIATION. Even if you don't know your ship time-frame 3 days in advance, it is your duty to be proactive (and psychic) and assume that they will schedule the shipment during the few hours where you will not be available and you must call and reschedule just so you are not charged an additional shipping fee. The employees here are clueless. Found a tv stand online and it said they had it displayed here so I went to check it out. Two different employees told me they had never heard of the tv stand I wanted and that they didn't have it at the store. Pulled it up on my phone and showed it to the second woman "helping" me. She proceeded to give me vague directions on where it "might" be. Didn't walk me to it, or even offer, dispute the fact that we were upstairs and she wasn't busy at all (I had watched her do nothing behind the counter for 10 mins while I looked). The woman that checked me out managed to be snobby and annoying at the same time. She told me 3 different times that I HAD to pick it up from the warehouse on Friday or call to reschedule. She acted like it would be the end of the world if it had to sit in the warehouse for one day. By the way, their warehouse is only opened from 8-4 on weekdays, which I'm sure is extremely inconvenient for 90% of their customers (including myself). After we completed the transaction, she walked around the counter and demanded once again I pick it up on Friday or call to reschedule. I just had to walk away at that point and am considering calling to cancel my order. Despite the fact that I did make a larger purchase, I felt as if I was discriminated against by most of the employees for being young. I also felt like I was treated as incompetent by the woman who checked me out. read more

Alright, so I am not sure why so many mediocre reviews, because I love this place! Now I know I have been allegedly called a "Crate & Barrel Addict" but I can be objective. Really. #1. I ordered some things online recently and got a) free shipping b) fast shipping c) exactly what I wanted. #2. I custom ordered my furniture for my living room from here and the service was great. The delivery guys came on time and were also pleasant. Now some of the down falls, no pun intended. a) if you custom order fabric it takes like 9 to 12 weeks to get your furniture. b) the down that fills the pillows on the couch, chair & a half etc stick out sometimes and poke you in the butt. or the ear, or the arm. It's kinda annoying and happens more the newer the furniture is, but as it wears in, it tends to lessen #3. I was just there this past weekend and got a set of 12 place settings including bowls, mugs, salad plates...and John Scott helped me. Not only was he incredibly patient and helpful. He wrapped everything in boxes, carried it out to my car and was NOT pushy at all. He explained that the set I bought is the second most popular and they have had it for years, so not to worry if I broke any. They probably won't discontinue it for a long time. He was awesome. Now, I did go once around the holidays and it seemed like both the crowd and the customer service reps were in a "special" mood, but hey, it's the holidays. MUCH IMPROVED CUSTOMER SERVICE since the last time I shopped here - which was years ago. I was greeted quickly - and at least 3 sweet gals asked me what I was looking for, if I needed help, showed me around - very helpful and friendly. Years ago I started a wedding registry here - and the people on the floor were cold, un-friendly and not interested in helping us. We ended up deleting our registry because we didn't want to give them any money - which is a shame because C&B has great items. Really glad after my visit today to see they have changed. read more

Where oh where could I find a decently priced media center and bookshelf that would match the rest of the dark colored furniture in my condo? I tried West Elm. I tried Rooms to Go. I tried Restoration Hardware. I tried them all. Then, while browsing Crate & Barrel's website, I saw that they had a gorgeous leaning bookshelf and media center (and bar piece which I opted out of... not sure why as I think back on it) for 30% off. Yipee! Three days later, I found myself in the store, making sure I wanted to purchase the said leaning piece for my living area. Of course I liked it, dark wood, sturdy and a pretty finish. As I made my way to the customer service desk to order it, I found myself veering away and going upstairs to admire the gorgeous beds, dressers, rugs, side and coffee tables that were out of my price range. I have problems doing that, always looking at stuff I can never afford. Anyway, I finally made my way over to the computer and the older man working quickly gave me the run down of ordering sale pieces and told me I could pick up the bookshelf in the back but the media center/TV stand would take a couple of weeks to come in. Boo! I didn't care, that baby was going to soon be holding some of my favorite pieces so I took it home, had my mom assemble it (because I suck at that stuff) and set it up. Only two weeks later (6 days prior to estimated arrival date), my media center came in. All I had to do was ring the doorbell in the back (like I was going to a secret speakeasy or something), give them my name and the young man loaded it into my car. Only problem I ran into with C&B is that they wouldn't deliver the media center/bookshelf. There's some rule about the piece your buying has to be really difficult to assemble for them to even *think* about offering a delivery service. Not really sure why but it was a pain in the butt to drive from way South Austin to the Arboretum area just to pick up a small piece. Word of advice to the folk at C&B, if someone is willing to pay a delivery charge, even if it's easy to assemble - let them do it!! I can't wait to see how it looks.... once it's out of my car & assembled... I'm not strong and couldn't even lift the freaking thing so it's still in my trunk. Once I find a big, buff man, I'll have him help me carry that darn thing and will hopefully love it just as much as I will love him. read more

Well, I like the company and their products! I am not so much a fan of the staff at C & B anymore since my favorite employee no longer works there. That said, I've never gone in looking for help finding anything or help deciding what to purchase but I've found the cashiers a bit unfriendly and they tend to be really rough with breakable items and careless in wrapping them. I've found this is a large store, with most of the same products available online as well. They should consider giving more of a bonus for completing, or even half completing, registries. I'm not sure I'd go here to furniture shop, but I like their kitchen gadgets. read more

I placed my order on August 29th. Although estimated arrival at the time of purchase was early-mid September, my order got delayed twice. I finally received a text message on October 12th that my order was arriving soon. I called the number to schedule the pick up. But the earliest pick up time that was provided was Nov. 11th. So I had no choice but wait another 3-4 weeks. The lady that I talked to on the phone stated that I could pick up my order after 11am on November 11th and the pick up was set. When I arrived at the warehouse on November 11th the person who checked my order said my order was not there and it was not booked and expected me to simply leave without any explanation. I was quite disappointed but also quite disturbed about his attitude. He didn't seem to care and wasn't willing to provide further assistance. I decided to go to the store but attitude wasn't any different there. Store associate also made no effort to resolve the issue and I ended up canceling the order. Overall terrible experience. Update: Customer service reached out to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. I will update the review as soon as I receive my order as expected read more

LOVE my leaning bookshelves I purchased here, but the service was lackluster. There were a lot of employees walking around(not doing much but talking to one another). It took about 10 minutes to actually get the attention of someone to help me. It was like if they saw a customer, they walked the other direction. Great place to walk around and pickup all the little gadgets and decorative items you need when completing your nest. Prices can be very high on some items, but watch for sales and most items are of high quality and will last for years. Great furniture options, but don't pay full sticker price - they have frequent discounts on all furniture and often offer free shipping. I have had a couple of issues with product delivery (scratched in transit) but all issues were handled immediately by their sales team. Life happens, I can't downgrade them for that and will continue shopping knowing if something shows up broken, they're not going to make a fuss - instead they make it right and keep me as a customer. Do remember to go the day after Christmas for the holiday sale, but sleep in and avoid the craziness. You may miss a few of the things you wanted, but it's a much more enjoyable experience. read more

I had been couch shopping for a few weeks, and I stumbled upon the Vaughn apartment sofa at the Crate and Barrel. While it was a little out of my price range, I thought I'd sleep on it that night (not literally). The next day, I still loved it and came back to make the purchase. I went upstairs, roamed around for awhile. No one ever came to ask me how I was doing, if I'd like to purchase a $1300 couch. I could see the staff just chatting each other up. So I thought I would stand in line behind the counter.. apparently that's how you get the attention of these people. A nice lady did end up helping me make my purchase (yes, I still bought it and love the couch!) Needless to say, Crate and Barrel is a staple, love the store, love their products. My boyfriend and I stopped in here for the first time the other day, although we've browsed their store online before and received bowls from here as a present for Christmas. The selection is amazing! We were definitely having to control ourselves and not buy everything we wanted. We got an adorable pig shaped cutting board and then some dish towels; both have been great so far (though it's only been a few days). The customer service was good, we had multiple people ask us if we needed any help throughout the store, which was nice. My one regret is that I didn't purchase the pig salt shakers. Not impressed with quality of glasses bought-break easily. Male manager in store not helpful and said glasses break -oh well. Be careful of any glasses you buy that are thin rimmed and beware if they say are dishwasher safe. Store will not be helpful. I did call corporate later and they were actually very helpful after spending 30 minutes with them. During Covid times these big box stores should be nicer to their in store clientele. I like the look of the place, but I can't afford to decorate my apartment with their stuff. I did find an egg poacher (ya know, one of those cups with tiny holes on the bottom that you can hang on the edge of a pot of boiling water) that wasn't outlandishly priced ($3.50) after going to Manny Hattan's down the road and deciding that I MUST make poached eggs at home more often. Linens & Things down the road a little farther didn't have an egg poacher except this gimmicky thing you put in the microwave. They have pretty much every gadget ever here, and that's awesome! A stovetop esspresso maker, too. Plus tons of decor items. read more

In 2016 I purchased the "Era" glass top coffee table. It's beautiful, and has held up very well, no issues. A few years later I purchased a sofa there. The salesperson "Ray" was very knowledgeable about furniture, and very helpful. I've recently had a very small issue with the sofa. "Craig" , the assistant store manager went above and beyond to help me. They have my business, they stand behind their stuff! read more

This review is in regards to their online service. What a terrible experience we have had trying to order a bed frame and dresser from them. It's easy to buy it online but to deliver it is next to impossible. Delays in product availability, issues with their delivery service, you name it. During the second attempt (three total) They told us it would be between 2 and 4 PM initially, then changed it to "maybe they'll be there by seven". To where we canceled it and they said they would rebook it for the next week sometime, and then we get a weird call at 9 PM saying they're ready to deliver it which is where I refused it because the kids were already asleep. The third attempt was scheduled and then they called back that day and said it wasn't scheduled and they didn't have a time to when it would be. Needless to say I canceled the order and then went online and read countless reviews of either damage to property or the same issues with delayed orders. If you don't find it in the store, I would not suggest ordering it online. They are terrible. read more

Visiting Austin for the Father's Day holiday, we stopped in to shop at this beautiful store. We purchased an item for cash and later returned to our home state only to discover the item did not work. When I called the store to ask what I should do with the item, Manager Amie said she would ship a replacement immediately. Not only that she said I shouldn't be troubled with returning the non-functioning item; no questions, no jumping through hoops, just wonderful and caring customer service. i *heart* the kitchen department at this store. granted i did register here. we had a lovely experience with an overzealous lady wanting to help me out. i quickly gave her the slip and headed over to the kitchen section to do my work. overall i was pleased with the selection of gadgets and tabletop items. now the furniture is not the best thing to purchase here. as a furniture buyer, i can tell you their pieces are not unique, nor the highest quality. you'd be surprised how many well-known vendors sell their generic lines to c&b. hooray for their beautiful white chef plates. boo for their overpriced sofas. read more

Let me start by saying that I gave two stars, instead of one, because I love the style of Crate and Barrel's furniture and housewares and had a good experience with my salesperson, Jamie. My experience since the sale however, has been very disappointing. On January 15th, I ordered five pieces of bedroom furniture. I was told by Jamie that the bed, nightstands, and one of the dressers were available now and that the tall dresser would be available at the end of the week when I should receive a phone call to schedule delivery. I never got a phone call, so I called the store the following week to see if I could schedule. The woman I spoke to said that they probably didn't call because the tall dresser is on backorder and won't be available until the end of the month, but that they could send the available furniture first if I'd like. When I asked about the delivery fee, she talked to the manager and told me they would deliver the back ordered dresser at no charge, so that I could get the rest of my items faster. So we set up delivery for today, February 7th. I rearranged my schedule to be home for the mid-day delivery and moved the old furniture out of our bedroom. When the delivery guys arrived, they told me that the two nightstands were damaged when they picked them up at the warehouse so they'd need to be reordered. Then, when they brought in the bed, they discovered that there were no screws to put the bed together! So, Crate and Barrel has $6,000 of my money, and delivered only one piece of furniture that is put together and not damaged. It gets even better! While the delivery guys are here, I called the store to find out if they have (undamaged) replacement pieces in stock and when they'd be available. I spoke to Bruce who said he'd check and call me right back. Fifteen minutes later, I haven't heard back from Bruce and the delivery guys need to know if I want to keep the one good dresser or refuse delivery, so I call the store again. Bruce tells me that he's busy and hasn't been able to check on the availability of the replacement furniture, the furniture manager is not in, and the store manager is on a call but that he or the manager will call me back as soon as they know something. After reading other reviews about long delivery waits, I decided to refuse the one good dresser as well so that I'm not stuck with just one piece with no idea of when the rest will come. Bruce then called me back and said that all of the furniture should be available in two weeks and we scheduled delivery for February 21st. When I asked Bruce what the chance was that all five pieces of furniture would arrive to me undamaged and with all of their parts that day, he got a bit of an attitude and said that they would call the warehouse prior to delivery to make sure everything was good. Shouldn't that be a given?? Why the heck would damaged furniture be sent out in the first place? I should note that when I posed that question to Bruce, he told me that they send it out so that it can act as "loner" furniture while I wait on the undamaged replacements to arrive, which is absolute BS, as the damaged stuff is hardly "on loan" when they already have my money. I would have much preferred a phone call to let me know that the items were damaged and given the option of rescheduling prior to waiting for the delivery. Oh, and one last thing. To compensate me for the inconvenience, Bruce said that he will refund BOTH of my delivery fees. Yes, you heard that right, that "free" late delivery they offered me for the backordered piece wasn't so free after all ... they charged me $149 for it! My advice, shop elsewhere. read more

Well this seems to be a trend at this location according to the reviews... I like some of their products but their employees are not the friendliest. I don't want to be asked every ten seconds if I need help, but I also don't want to be completely ignored.. It took me passing about six employees, some even making eye contact but not smiling before someone In the far back room asked if I needed help. Generally, I love Crate & Barrel. I get their catalog, I buy things at their other stores, I order online. But this location? Their staff is the most unprofessional and rude bunch I have ever come across. I won't even set foot in there anymore after a particularly bad experience about a year ago. I was there to purchase a wedding gift for a friend who had registered at Crate & Barrel. I also happened to be on crutches because I had broken my ankle a week before. This was actually my first outing in public on the crutches since the break. The manager on duty thought she was being funny and very rudely called me "Gimp" and made loud, repeated comments about my awkward crutch use. Luckily for me my issue was something that would heal with time, not a permanent disability but really is that any way to treat a customer? What if I had some sort of disability or had been the victim of a horrific crime. The best tactic probably wasn't to call me names. That's not a way to make people feel welcomed and comfortable. There's a word for women who treat others the way that manager treated me. But, unlike the manager of this Crate & Barrel, I was raised better than to use derogatory terms towards people. read more

I'm kind of addicted to CB. My bedroom set is from there and a few other pieces in my home. On this particular visit I was looking for a desk, and the salesman, Dean, was very helpful in showing me the different options. He also looked up the exact color match for a now discontinued dresser, which got scratched up a little. When I bought the desk he also gave me the color match for that one as well in case I ever needed to touch it up. Great service! Their stuff is spendy, but also great quality. read more

Guess I should have read the reviews before venturing out to this CB. Nasty attitude is what reeks in this place...or I should say at this location. Went in looking for some furniture ideas and possibly a purchase or two. Found a sale item that I questioned one of the sales girls about. I simply asked if they had anymore of that same product available and midway of that girl answering, her (slighlyt chunky) coworker jumps into the conversation and rudely answers for her. "No, that is the only item" Me: "Well I was just curious because I saw this box down here that..." Chunky sales girl (cuts me off in a rude tone and roles her eyes): "No that's a floor clearance item." Me (about ready to "pop off"): "I know that's a clearance item (I can read you B*), I was merely asking because I saw another box with the same picture on it on the floor." I kept moving and just proceeded to look around with a sour taste in my mouth. I was so irritated with chunky sales girl -tude that I cut my trip short. Won't be coming back. Do yourself a favor and read all the reviews. You'll find a common theme, rudeness and lack of customer service. read more

Cool store with nicely designed products, but passive aggressive employees. If you are under the age of 30 be prepared to get profiled and talked down to with the "can you afford it attitude". I dress relatively well, but walking in with a t-shirt and jeans, I get treated with the "aren't you glad this expensive stuff is on sale" tone. I absolutely love Crate and Barrel's products but my last two experiences going to this particular store have been quite unpleasant. The first time I went looking for a mirror I had seen online. I spent about 5-10 minutes looking around the store and nobody even stopped to ask me if I needed help. Finally I was able to hunt an employee down and when I showed her a picture of the mirror she acted as though I was inconviencing her. She looked in the system to see if the store had the mirror finally said "well, we don't have it!". I made it clear that I wanted to purchase this mirror and instead of asking me if I wanted to have the product ordered she seemed about ready to walk away. I had to ask her if the mirror could be ordered and she said "Even if we can order it it wiill take forever". Excuse me, but since when is that customer service? I was so upset I just left the store. About a month later I had decided on another mirror that I wanted and checked online to make sure the store had it. I go into the store ready to purchase it and sure enough the same lady who I had my previous encounter with seemed to be the only employee available. I told her I wanted to buy the mirror that I knew was in stock. Instead of greeting me politely with a "of course I can help you" attitude she once again acted inconvenienced and rudely said "well we'll see if it is even in stock" and gave me attitude throughout the remainder of the transaction. I don't understand why Crate and Barrel has this lady working for them if she does not seem motivated to make a sale. If I'm spending 250 dollars on an overpriced mirror I expect to be treated with at least a little respect. At the end of the day I am satisified with the product I purchased but I am overall very disappointed in this store. In the future I will buy products online to avoid feeling unwelcome in this pretentious store. I plan on writing a letter to C&B corporation to let them know how unpleasant my experience was. read more

If you are looking to make a major furniture purchase, head over to Crate & Barrel right away! The entire second floor of the gorgeous store is devoted solely to furnishings and custom orders. Once a year they do a custom furnishings sale, which I highly recommend checking out. At the end of every season, they usually have a big sale to clear out floor samples which is a great way to score a fantastic deal on that sofa you've had your eye on. The first floor is accessories and kitchenware, great for hunting for gifts. Check out their Christmas decorations during the holidays - they have a vast assortment of different style ornaments. read more

Wish I could put in 0 stars. Had to battle them to get a sofa I ordered inside the 2 weeks window, only to find out (one day before) the actual delivery date changed due to "nationwide issues" to a further 2 weeks. They didn't even offer a free delivery or anything for the inconvenience (my schedule is extremely busy and had to rebook a work related flight to be at my apt on the initially agreed date). Crate & Barrel is a great place to go when you're making a wedding registry. They're obviously used to it, because before wedding season starts, they open the store early for engaged couples to come in and play with all their stuff, see demonstrations on tons of items, and get all questions answered on cooking stuff. It was so helpful, and we were provided free breakfast. They also gave us two gorgeous champagne flutes that were classy but had a modern, slightly heart-shaped lip, that made them stand out but not seem cheesy. read more
