This store location is clean, large, and well stocked. Parking is easy. I go here often as it is close to home. However my customer service experience with Irene, who may be a manager, makes me not want to return and support this business, which I know is unfair since it was just one person on one day, but she really made me feel discriminated against. She was rude to me the moment I entered the store and curt and unfriendly through our entire interaction as I exchanged an item for store credit. If I smiled at her, she wouldn't even make eye contact. If I thanked her for her help, she wouldn't even respond. She needed to show me something on her computer screen and she said "come here" in a condescending voice you'd use to a child instead of "could you come to this side please?" in a professional and polite manner. Other staff have always been friendly so I was quite taken aback at her demeanor. Is it because I was returning something instead of purchasing? Is it because I'm Asian American or younger than their typical clientele? Right after she finished my exchange, she turned to another guest who happened to be an older white lady and turned on all the smiles and charm for her. The difference was so stark that it made me reconsider our entire interaction, because up until that moment I just thought "this lady must just be having a bad day" since I'd done nothing to her. I have never written a review for a retail store before but I felt compelled to today, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't say something in the moment to Irene directly. Irene, if you see this, please consider how you treat your customers. I will probably return here because I like CB's products. But if I meet Irene again I will most definitely ask to be helped by someone else. I don't need that negative energy in my life! read more

The customer service is not good here at all. I ordered a planter that was on display. There were two. They refused to sell those so o ordered it for pick up in the store. They said they would email me but did not. When I went to pick it up the woman said I had to drive around the back to get it. I'm like huh??? I insisted on picking it up in the store since it's not big or heavy. It just seems to be a hassle with the service here. Not worth me continuing to shop here. Had the best experience yesterday at this location. We typically shop at the manhasset location, however, we were in the area and decided to pick up a quick gift. Had great service from Miss Irene & Mr.David, they were both helpful and efficient. Kudos. I also love that the parking lot is right out front and it's not in the big mall. This store is well managed and has top tier staff. Constance helped me over the phone with an order today and was super efficient, super knowledgeable on product and process, pleasant, patient and open and really went above and beyond to ensure she helped as much as possible. Tonight, we went to this store to see and compare what we saw in the website. After checking and checking and comparing several coffee tables and tv stands, we chose one of each, but we were in doubt of matching their colors. One of them was upstairs and another one was downstairs. We asked the lady, and their manager to move one of them to put next to each other to compare them and see how good they could be, BUT THEY DENIED AND SAID YOU CAN BUY IT AND SEE THEM NEXT TO EACH IN YOUR HOME! There is no way we do it here for you!!! Such a embarrassing customer service. We wanted to buy $4000 furniture there without chance of seeing them next to each. For me, Creat and Barrel went to my black list forever. So poor management in that store! No caring about customers and making them happy and satisfied! read more

Twice, I was told there was nothing in stock in store of an item I wanted to purchase. First time I went to the parking lot to order online and it showed items in stock at the store. Went back showed the clerk and she finds what I what. Yesterday 10/29/23 I went in person again looking for a certain item to be total there was nothing in stock ( I asked for other colors too). I go home go to order online and again there is stock in store of exactly what I came for originally. Very frustrating. I had a number of questions but he stayed patient and friendly during the entire process. My husband and I just got a new house that we needed to furnish. But if you know Hawaii, you know that our home decor selection is lacking and it's hard to find people to ship here. So we decided to fly to California to do some shopping and take a much needed vacation. I had been shopping all day and I admittedly looked a hot mess. I picked up the linen sheet set that I had my eye on, a few pillows, and some other random kitchen gadgets I found, and stood in line. The lady behind the counter finished with the customer she had been helping, took the gentleman in front of me, and then looked at me before walking away from the register to ask another customer if they needed help. When I approached her and asked where I could be rung up at, she looked me up and down then said "are you trying to make a purchase?" *deep breath* The look she gave me was as if I didn't belong there. Worst customer service. Tanya the manager refused to provide a small swatch of fabric off a sample fabric of the bed I purchased. No sample has ever been available and she basically told me to go to pottery barn and buy my furniture. Rude and flippant. This store is not doing well for a reason! I went here today for some kitchen attire and was shocked at the lack of choices at first. But, after a friendly manager came and asked me if I needed any help; that's where the fun started! I told her I was trying to make my kitchen less ugly and vintage and more open and bright. She was able to show me a lot of choices I didn't see before, give me further suggestions and how to lighten up the place. She was fantastic! I was going in for just a rug and this girl got me to get table mats, some cookie jars (set of three) a centerpiece, coasters and rug. I'm so happy she approached me and helped me out; I will definitely be going back here. Crate & Barrel corporate must not believe in great customer service, and this is why companies such as Amazon and Wayfair do so well and are taking up so much market share in home furnishings and decor. I went in today to return two items I purchased that still had the C&B tags on them. I did not have my receipt - and in this day and age, most retailers who give a damn about great customer service will provide you with the benefit of the doubt. My shoes I was wearing today cost more than how much their employees make in a week, so I don't need the money. What was upset about was the principle of doing what one can to make customers feel they are taken care of. The manager came over and offered no proactive solutions, or even a store credit, just dismissed me and said oh we can't do anything since you dont have a receipt or the original cc. The reason I didn't have the original cc is because my entire wallet had been stolen from me over the weekend - and said cc was in there. Talk about a lack of empathy, too. Never shopping at this particular store, or probably even C&B, ever until they instill some common customer service values amongst their employees. I did so much online shipping for home office furniture my eyes were glazed over. So I decided to dash over to Crate & Barrel to see some stuff in person. I was helped by a fabulous saleswoman named Yael. She was so helpful in putting together all the items that I needed to look curated as opposed to matchy-matchy. This place is overpriced in a dumb way. I saw a half-size 'hand painted' drinking glass for $10. They sell an IKEA looking laptop table for $500. I saw a spatula for $14. I mean I'll spend $$$ on some quality silverware or plates, but this is just ridiculous. FYI- that there is an outlet in Carlsbad and most of the kitchen gadgets end up at TJ Maxx or Ross anyways. Note that I also bought hand painted drinking glasses from Spain at Pier1 for $3.50 each, so I dunno what makes a drinking glass over $10. Hand-blown, hand-painted, AND hand-marked up x 5. Luckily for C&B, they sell the French steak knives I needed to gift with my discount. The only thing annoying was that it took a while to pay and I don't know why, since it wasn't even crowded in there and the staff was just wandering around having long conversations with customers. It is nice to be social on the floor, but i its nicer to have cashiers at the check out! Pluses for being very organized and roomy though. Crate & Barrel is shopping for a price, but also for better quality, and it's far more in tune with European tastes than most US home decor stores. Awful customer service, lies about when items will be in stock or delivered by in store employees. Even online ordering is a terrible experience. Get ads aggressively pushed on social media for items you'll find aren't in stock. Place the order and almost zero communications on the status but they do love pushing their multiple a day marketing emials at you which is just intense and lacking customer order history as again the same item comws up. Well my order is delayed again that I order back in May a third time with no updates, need to manually click on the old order from 4/29 to get status. I recommend Pottery Barn and West Elm for better supply chain, customer experience and technology to keep the customer Informed, get with the program CB! read more

Well, after having my review of the Taraval Couch rejected from being posted on their website because it doesn't meet their guidelines I guess I must turn to Yelp, so here it is: "Uncomfortable and Flat We loved this couch when we sat on it in the store but unfortunately, after having it 1 1/2 years, this is the most uncomfortable couch we've owned for the price. The cushions are sparingly filled with down and not enough to keep them firm for longer than 6 months. The cushions eventually start to flatten allowing you to feel the frame underneath when sitting. We had contacted via chat and by phone to resolve this, willing to pay for replacement FIRM cushions or get them re-filled. The third person I spoke to (when finally being transferred to this store for assistance) told me to email pictures as I did, although I don't know how I can email pictures of "feeling the couch frame through the cushions" but I did my best. A week has passed and I have not heard from them. We now may have to figure out how to stuff them ourselves. Don't throw $2500 down the drain. Pick a firmer couch." I now have been ignored 4 times! Can you believe that I have actually been very nice and pleasant up to this point? The two stars is for the fact that we actually like the couch, it's beautiful, but whether it functions as a comfortable couch is a different thing to consider. I've been to both the Crate & Barrel in Pasadena and here in Torrance and I have to say this one is more roomy and the customer service is exceptional. The store is very clean and organised and when I walked in , I was asked by 3 different staff members if I needed any help. I was helped for over an hour by Daniel who took the time to walk to my car, with a cart and move all my items that needed to be returned from my wedding registry. Thanks again! The return policy was very user friendly and we proceeded to use the store credit to look for other items in the store. Daniel was very knowledgeable with the different types of cutlery and also the pots and pans. They also had a sale for 4th of July for 15% most items. Came in here the other day and received the best customer service from Cynthia!!! I was a bit nervous to come in here... I bought some lamps that cost me about $300 each about 2 years ago. They both broke and it was due to a bad design. I tried to fix them multiple times with no luck. I was so bummed because this was the first big purchase that I had ever made in regards to designing my home and this was a lot of money for 2 lamps that were mainly for decoration, in my opinion. A friend suggested that I come in and try to exchange for new ones or a store credit... I mean, it is Crate & Barrel after all. I didn't have a receipt or any proof of purchase but Cynthia looked through every system for about 20 minutes and found it. I purchased a high end knife set, used one knife on an apple and realized it wasn't worth the money I paid for it. I returned it less than 24 hours after I bought. Had all the original packaging and receipt. They refused to return it because I used one of the knives. And we're incredibly rude about it. They basically wrapped up the item back up, shoved it towards me and said we can't help you sorry bye. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. I am a very loyal customer. We just built a house and nearly purchased everything from this location so when this occurred I was in shock. I called corporate and less than 20 minutes later they approved the return. I love Crate & Barrel and I was a HUGE fan - to the point where I was going in every weekend to see what was new and what was on sale, but things have changed since my most recent and last purchase. I ended up buying a custom made Otter Colored Leather AXIS II sofa, waited over 3 months for it to be finished and delivered, but the delivery men really messed up my new sofa. The sofa was delivered from North Carolina and traveled across the country, I am assuming rain or shine, and got to my place only to be placed on its backside on ONE small rolling cart that stretched out the backing of the sofa. It was a beautiful sofa, but I had to return it for a full refund, otherwise I would have kept it. Crate & Barrel was excellent in that they wanted to replace sofa, but I was in the process of moving therefore the timing was all wrong in ordering a replacement. Here are some pics... read more

Had to return something that I received from my wedding and the return was very easy and the associate that I worked with was so nice and helpful and the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. The associate's manager on the other hand, was extremely rude to her and not very welcoming to me, which was very off putting and made me want to leave. I understand that with the holiday season fast approaching it can be stressful, especially in retail, but it does not take too much effort to be kind- especially to the people you work with. read more

This review is not specific to this location it is really more about the company's business practices. We have shopped in-store many times and made several major purchases including pots and pans, lighting, and furniture. The sales people in-store are quite helpful. The problems we have experienced are with the Credit Card and with the condition of furniture items delivered. Since we were shopping often at Crate and Barrel, we decided to open a credit card account. The card offers points that you can use like cash on items purchased in the store. Those points expire, and Crate and Barrel is not flexible in making sure you get to use those points. Our points expired and we lost out on about $200 worth of points. Some of those points were earned on merchandise we could of bought for less elsewhere when not factoring in those points. The second frustrating problem is that every time we have had furniture delivered there is a problem. Either a broken piece or a missing part. Sadly the only solution Crate and Barrel ever offered was to replace the item completely. The replacement process takes weeks or even months in some cases. One large wall unit with a small broken part was taking months to replace so we finally just returned the item because it was sitting in our house and not usable. In another case, a bookcase shipped missing 1 single metal peg that helps hold a shelf in place. Yet, instead of just giving us another peg they insisted upon replacing the whole bookcase which was going to take 2 months. We refused, and bought 100 pegs on Amazon for $6.00. The right thing to do would have been for them to either have standard pegs in stock, or at least tell us we could easily buy them and then reimburse us. To their credit they did offer a decent discount on the bookcase. However, it really wasn't worth the trouble. That's why we chose to shop in a high-end retailer so we don't have trouble. Crate and Barrel, if you're reading this, I can offer you a great deal on 99 shelf pegs for .......$500. That should cover our trouble finding them and our expired credit card points. As a relatively high-end retailer Crate and Barrel should be ashamed in the handling of all of the above. We have closed our account and will no longer shop there. I've been shopping at Crate and Barrel store for over 20 years and this was the worst experience I've ever had. DO NOT pay $99.00 and hire an interior designer name Michael to help you design your home or apartment! Michael works at Del Amo location store. He will initially come to your apartment for measurements and picture but then the nightmare begins....he doesn't do anything! I called after waiting a month but he doesn't return your calls, visits to store looking for him to find out he's left on sick leaves, still no return calls. I explained to him in the beginning that I needed to complete the remodeling in 2months, before Christmas and he assured me it wasn't a problem at all, yet he disappears from the earth. I finally had to reach out to store manager and was assigned another designer to rush and order furniture. My furniture arrived right before Christmas, thank goodness! Michael lied to the store manager that he had drawings and swatches ready but someone stole it and he emailed me information, which he never did. I don't understand why he still works there.. People come to Crate and Barrel because the quality is very good. As a C+B fan, I know that there's places that are cheaper, but I've been to those places, and end up tossing the crap after a year or so. I've had dishes, linen, cookware and utensils from C+B that lasted longer than my 22 year relationship with the ex husband. I still have my C+B plates in excellent condition, and love them! The staff is helpful here, and they do have a decent selection. Before giving it less than 4 stars, ask yourself if you prefer good quality... or cheap stuff? read more

This was my first time to Crate and Barrel, and I was blown away at the size of the store, how nicely it was all stocked, and how friendly the staff was. I was checked up on a couple times while I was browsing to see if I needed any help by friendly staff. All of the staff was wearing masks which was highly appreciated. When it came to the checkout experience, the cashier Diane was incredibly helpful and pleasant. When I told her the things I was purchasing was a gift, she nicely packed everything away in a box and made it look neat and presentable. While most of the things here are on the expensive side, it is expected so I wasn't too shocked. In the end, I went with the lower end Highball glasses and two beautiful Moscow Mule copper cups. read more

Yeah... I pretty much have no clue what anyone else is talking about (sorry guys, I totally wish we were in agreement here...) Crate & Barrel is no Target when it comes to prices, but they aren't that overpriced! It's a more expensive Ikea/Pottery Barn. We registered there for our wedding and they were always SO helpful and awesome. We returned things that didn't have receipts, they gladly swapped out our broken pizza stone for a new one (no questions asked) AND (the coolest part)... when your event date is over, they send you a 10% coupon to buy anything left on your registry for a discount. Well, it's not just anything on your registry. We went in to redeem this offer because we had about $450 in gift cards to C&B and they told us to add all the things we wanted to our registry (that weren't already on there) right there and then we could get 10% off those items too! So we added them on their convenient computer by putting in the SKU number and we were set! Three complaints: 1. They don't send coupons like Bed Bath 2. They don't sell all products there like they didn't have all the pots/pans we wanted and they don't even sell Microwaves... so if you want a larger appliance selection, you may want to go to Bed Bath & Beyond 3. They close early (7pm) on Saturdays... why? They great things: 1. They sell great gadgets 2. They have seasonal sales 3. The people are friendly 4. With registries you get a 10% coupon after your date is over 5. They package your items for you 6. They aren't that expensive 7. They have trendy and cool patterns/gadgets It's not a one-stop-shop, but they do sell some great items! All of my dishes are from there and they have a line of wooden items that I own too (it's seasonal). They also ship items for you across the nation so you don't have to carry gifts on the plane! I don't know a thing about their furniture other than that I like it when I am in the store but don't have anywhere to put it! I already have a full house of furniture but envy it when I am there. I would give 10 stars if I could. I bought my sectional couch with lounge seat 3+ years ago then just a few weeks ago my dog ruined one of the cushion covers because she was scratching it with her claws during the night so I didn't notice until the next morning I see a big hole in it. I called their offices since we bought the couch online and I explained to them the situation and I pretty much begged for them to sell me another cover since it was going to be impossible to match if I shop somewhere else, specially being a big cushion the one you sit on so it's kind of a big deal. Well, I was told they don't actually sell the parts separate but what they ended up doing was delivered a whole new couch right to my door at 0 cost to me. I was actually kinda skeptical when they told me over the phone but sure enough a week and half later I got my brand new couch. I don't shop in the store very often, I'm an online fan myself, but when I do drop in, it's always refreshing to see the what's new...the new styles and colors. Today I wanted to purchase a couple replacement pieces of china....figured I'd spend a small fortune to replace a plate and a couple bowls I chipped in the course of countless meals. Much to my surprise, I was told they simply replace them...I didn't have to pay! How fantastic is that? I went ahead and purchased a couple "extras", never hurts to have a few in case the line is retired - but the C&B girls assured me that what I purchased is a classic and would likely never be retired.
