We were shopping around for a new mattress and were disappointed with the customer service we received at Ortho Mattress. Though we started as the only customers in the store, a woman came in wanting to do an exchange and we were completely forgotten about. We tried the mattresses by ourselves and even found one we liked, but we couldn't get the attention of the sales person on the floor to save our lives, even though we were there before the woman with the return. We knew that the Stearns & Foster prices were pretty much universal so our decision was not about price, unfortunately it all came down to customer service. I've been wanting to get a mattress for some time now, but just didn't want to bother with the hassle of looking for one. One night, my friend and I were chatting and we both found out that we wanted a new mattress. We set a date and went for it.  On President's Day Weekend we walked into this Ortho Mattress. We walked in and a friendly man, Eric asked us what we were looking for and started showing us the different firmness of different brands of mattresses.  We probably tried about a dozen, going back and forth until we narrowed our choices down to 2.  My friend and I both were looking for similar firmness and ultimately chose the same mattress.  Eric was very friendly and informative the whole time, and so patient with us!  We both ended up getting a great deal with free delivery and some memory foam pillows.  Eric even personally delivered the pillows to our houses  the next day because they didn't have enough in stock the day we were there.  I would definitely go back and recommend this place to anyone looking for a great mattress at a great deal! read more

[Review #319] 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge (89/100) We're in the market for a new mattress now & 2 more in the near future (probably within the year) when my son transitions from his crib to big boy bed so both kids will need twins when they get a new bunkbed. We were warmly greeted by Ruby & she immediately informed us their Labor Day Sale starts today. Hmmm... that sounds like a good thing. :-) We said we're looking for a medium to firm (leaning towards firm) mattress without providing a price range. I didn't want $ to dictate experiencing a quality mattress. No fancy, unnecessary add-ons -- just a good mattress so we can get quality sleep. We probably tested 10 mattresses or so with the kids; I wanted to make sure that their "movements" (yeah, they were jumping) won't be as disruptive to my ability to relax. After almost an hour, we narrowed it down to 2, 1 was their brand (Ortho Lansdowne) & the other was a Halstead; both ended up being high end ($$) mattresses. Our frame has a storage underneath so our current mattress sits on 2" wood slats spaced 2" apart so Ruby also recommended a bunkie board. She believes our frame may contribute to the deterioration of our current mattress; possibly but not likely as it was purchased a couple of years ago because I was tired of sleeping so close to the floor. I'll take her suggestion under advisement. She's definitely a "knowledgeable" & friendly salesperson. The Lansdowne has a 15% discount whereas the Halstead is a new model so no discount (so not a full store sale). Mattresses over $500 qualify for free delivery & same day if purchase is made before 2:00 PM. However, she said the Lansdowne can be delivered by Tuesday at the earliest. So how is that a guarantee for their factory-direct mattress is always in stock for delivery? We were there at 11:00 AM, well within their 2:00 PM cutoff. I wasn't aware of the guarantee (Ortho Promise) until I was home doing some research. Also, if your purchase exceeds $899.99, you're entitled to a set of Unity pillows; this wasn't mentioned during the price quote. Definitely, free pillows for the purchase of either model. Did that mean I could have gotten the mattress for free? That's not what I was aiming for, but in hindsight, it felt a bit like the car shopping process so it's best to do your research beforehand. Now that I'm older & sleep quality is more important to me now (especially with 2 LOs), I'm more than willing to make a bigger investment for a quality mattress. Since Ortho was our first stop, we wanted to comparison shop & see what else is out there. read more

Most mattress reviews are written at the time of purchase and talk about the sales experience or the first few days on a bed, which do not give an accurate picture. This review will be on the Aireloom products that Othro Mattress sells. The mattress is handmade in California with a mixture of latex, foams, wool and cotton that make up the surface above the individual micro coils. However, after just a few years, 3-4, the mattress starts to majorly sag. The warranty on the bed is for 10 years and states that if the mattress has depressions greater than 1 and 1/2 inches, that it will be replaced. Even the salesmen states this. We had someone come out and look at our mattress and I watched him carefully. The mattress showed depressions of greater than 5 and a half inches in certain areas. There was a huge hump in the middle. The mattress was concave on the edges and looked like it was collapsing. When measuring my spine in the first few days, there was perfect alignment. When measuring my spine from the cervical area of my neck to my lower back, there is significant declining in the lower hip area and the spine is distinctly out of alignment. Even though the mattress has significantly degraded, Ortho and Aireloom refuse to honor the warranty. Your better off getting a less expensive mattress without foam and basically sleeping on top of a thin material on top of the coils. There are many 4 star hotels that purchase mattresses for the purpose of longevity as it costs the hotel too much money to replace them every five years, so they want a mattress that will last at least 10 years or longer. Ortho does not stand by their warranty. For that reason, stay away from them. read more

I was offered several other beds in full size but that is not what I need nor want. Chris was extremely patient and helpful; he was informative and helped me narrow down my choices down to two. As much as I wanted to buy a mattress right then and there, I needed time to think about the two choices I had narrowed it down to. I ended up leaving the store yesterday without purchasing but I told him I'd give him a call once I made my decision. The worst service I have ever experienced. Let me explain, I went in one day looking to try and eventually buy a mattress. I believe the person that helped me was named Wilson, but I can remember for sure. When I first walked in he was laying down on a mattress and when I asked him about a specific kind mattress, memory foam, he just pointed and said "it's over there". After yelling a few questions across the store, he eventually got up and came to us. I tried a few mattress and it was all good. He asked when we wanted it to be delivered and I told him we first want to go to the other mattress stores nearby. There are a lot of mattress stores nearby. It is called mattress row. A few days later I go back to the store with my cousin because he was also looking for a new mattress. Wilson came to us and said I remember you. My cousin was asking questions about a mattress and he also mentioned he was not going to make a purchase anytime soon. He was just surveying his options for later. I, on the other hand, was ready to buy, I was asking a few more questions and asked for a few moments so we can lay on the beds. He went to his desk in front of the store and sat down. After about 5 minutes he yells to us "don't you think you had enough fun". My cousin and I were confused and said what. He replied saying " what I am trying to say is that I am sick of your faces". We were shocked and just left the store immediately. And went to a nearby store and bought the mattresses there. I am not exaggerated one tiny bit. This actually happened. I have never experienced such bad customer service ever in my life. This has been the worst experience ever. Ortho mattress and has a big customer. I will never step foot in one ever again. I am disgusted by how we were treated and we will never be back again. I urge my fellow yelpers never to visit any ortho mattress under any circumstances, especially this location. BEWARE STAY AWAY. Well, the mattress I originally bought turned out to be too firm. I wanted to return it all and shop around. Well, they wouldn't take the adjustable frame back, and charged me a 20% restocking fee and $99 delivery fee. She provided great service to us both, even though we wanted different styles of mattresses, she was able to help both of us at the same time. Lynnette was so knowledgeable without being too sales-y, pushy. The second mattress she suggested for me was the one I purchased! She was the only employee in the store and was able to manage helping us, answering the phone and greeting new customers without us feeling neglected. Terry is THE most amazing salesperson that my husband and I have ever encountered in our 30 years of shopping together. We recently purchased a home in MB and needed to buy 4 beds, frames, mattress covers and pillows. We had the incredible good fortune to meet Terry, who helped us with our purchase. We arrived at the store at 8:00 (an hour before closing). We were immediately enthusiastically greeted by Terry. We explained that we were looking for high quality beds and considering our first ever Tempurpedic. Terry walked us around the entire store (and it is HUGE) and had us lie down on each bed as she explained the features. She even gave us the proper pillows to try as we tested each bed. Her incredibly thorough knowledge of sleep systems was so impressive, as were her patience and desire to make sure that we were purchasing beds that were best for us.
