I waited 30-35 minutes for my order because they accidentally forgot to put the order up, then they made it to go after I said it was for dine in and finally I received it after a huge wait. After a long day of running errands, my friend and I decided some Mediterranean food will be satisfying and nourishing to our body. I ordered lamb with rice and a Greek salad. I was very disappointed in the quality of their lamb. I bit into the lamb and the lamb bit back. The lamb was so hard and dry and I tried to force myself to chew it and to realize I would be chewing for hours, I returned the plate which they were very nice about. The nice guy told me the lamb was well done even though nobody asked me how I wanted the lamb. He offered another plate cooked to medium, which I accepted noticing how nice the guy was and his attempt to make it better. Ten minutes later I received yet another plate and this time we had some pieces I was able to chew and others not so much. It was still hard and took forever to chew. When I noticed my jaws started to hurt, i gave up and threw the tray away. Ive had Mediterranean food on several other occasions and never have I been so dissatisfied with the food. This is my go-to Mediterranean in the city. I've ordered from Crave Kabob multiple times and it delivers every single time. I always get the chicken shawarma bowl with the yellow rice, and Arabic and Jerusalem salads. I've tried chicken shawarma at at least a dozen other places in the city, and it always comes out very dry. Crave Kabob changes the game big time. The chicken is moist and flavorful, the rice is well seasoned, and the salads are fresh. Also love that smoky flavor in the babaganoush. It's the typical weekend night. My fridge is pretty much empty, and even if there was stuff in it, I'm struggling to muster up the gumption to prepare anything. I meditate on my hunger. I have a craving for Mediterranean food, and I'm feeling absolutely ravenous. I pull up a delivery service, order the largest dinner possible (The Mixed Grill), and prepare to buckle down on a cathartic meal of passable marinated meat and rice. Whatever. Only, I didn't expect the food to stand out as much as it did. How do I even begin? My listless, voracious self was left speechless at this takeout. The chicken, steak and kufta kabob, and the chicken and steak shawarma... everything was impeccably seasoned, delectably tender, and full of flavor. I'm no stranger to Mediterranean food, and this was a clear standout. In pursuit of the confirmation that I had found my rock in Chicago for good Mediterranean food, I visited Crave Kabob in person. The restaurant is beautiful, in fact, so clean, modern and aesthetically cohesive that I initially thought that this was some sort of chain. That day, I ordered the crave bowl for nine bucks, which, while I initially worried about whether it would fill me up (my appetite veers on the heavy end), the taste and portion size was more than enough to put these concerns to rest. Every bite reaffirmed the joy I had when I first ordered from here. Digging specifically into each component, one great thing about the bowls is the insane amount of options you get. On top of your rice, you get to choose a meat, two salads, two spreads and two sauces, leading to various ways to cater the food to your palate. Per their recommendations, I got the tabbouleh and Jerusalem salad, double baba ghanoush, and their fire and tzatziki sauce with chicken shawarma. What a symphony of flavor! The tabbouleh added a lovely herb and zesty note that lifted the chicken and rice, and the accompanying Jerusalem salad was creamy and zingy, to boot. Moreover, I really, really love Baba Ghanoush, but tend to be very picky about it. A lot of places mess up something, either not seasoning it enough, rendering the texture to be a bit mushy, or adding too much lemon juice, overpowering it... here, the Baba Ghanoush was near flawless. Perfect amount of acidity, texture was delightful, and you can really taste that hearty, roasted eggplant flavor. Naf Naf Grill just can't compare. I can't even think about eating at places like that anymore after these experiences. On top of all of this, the staff are incredibly friendly and extremely helpful, offering me recommendations for my Crave Bowl toppings and doing so patiently, and always with a smile. The cherry on top of a great casual dining experience. If you want delicious Mediterranean food, go to Crave Kabob. Everything's great, but the Crave Bowls are where they're at. I am always up for exploring new restaurants in my neighborhood. I have heard a significant amount of great things from friends, neighbors, and I have read a list of amazing reviews about Crave Kabob. After a long day at work I didn't feel like cooking and just wanted to pick up something simple and light and have a relaxing evening. I was pretty excited to try this place out for the first time, my boyfriend (not his first time) also agreed this was a good choice. Upon arrival this place showed great signs that proved all the talk to be true! The atmosphere felt great, the front staff was really welcoming, sweet, and very patient as I ordered and went through the menu. For starters I wanted to keep my first order very basic, I'm big on falafel and I'm big on sauce * especially when I am paying for it! I was very excited after ordering, I even got my expectations up by skimming the 5 star reviews this place has received while waiting for our food. I am so sad to report that everything on my receipt was correct only I didn't get what I ordered! I specifically paid extra for the (2) 8oz sauces and I was given (2) 2oz containers. I know it's not a big deal but come on! I'm a strict vegetarian and felt the feeling of ordering a 20pc Chicken Nugget from Mcdonalds and only getting 1 sauce!!!!!! If you're a 5 star restaurant I'd expect a certain level of attention to detail, most especially when ordering takeout! Got stuck in traffic on my way home from picking up and discovered the mistake when we finally got home... it's funny because before opening the bag I said "I hope they didn't forget my sauces"!
