Back for seconds and we enjoyed it once again. Delivery times after ordering here are quite quick which makes it a great last second choice for food after getting home late from work. Tried the shawafel this time and it was really nice, warm and well spiced. Fried cauliflower was fine and humus was delicious and uber creamy. I been to pretty much most of the middle eastern spots thru out the city and this spot is definitively way better then pita inn and naf naf grill. The decor was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful when ordering. The food was amazing we ordered pretty much half the menu but I couldn't complain about anything. They have a variety of sauces and different options for meat. I never had fried Mediterranean cheese but it was a hit along with the fresh lemon mint juice. It's worth the drive if your hungry the portions of food were large and flavorful I will come back and I recommend this place if your in the mood for some Mediterranean food. I'm staying in Chicago for a few days and was looking for a decent veg-friendly place within walking distance of my hotel for dinner. The restaurant was small but sleek and clean with plenty of seating and friendly, helpful staff. I ordered the falafel sandwich on a pita and grilled veggies. The pitas were super fresh and soft and held up really well under all the sauces and juices. The veggies were huge chunks of grilled tomatoes, onions and peppers. I was afraid I was going to wish I'd ordered the fries instead but the veggies were the way to go. The falafel was super flavorful and tender. It came with lettuce and veggies and a bright, fresh tasting yogurt sauce. I didn't think to take a pic but it was a huge portion, super fresh and delicious. I'm half-tempted to just go there again tomorrow night instead of trying to find someplace else. Wish we had one back home, it would be on a weekly rotation! read more

LOVE this place! So glad I stumbled upon Crave Kabob through Grubhub. I'm a huge fan of fast food type mediterranean places and this is exactly that. There are so many options on the menu including gyros, chicken kebabs, chicken shawarma, and lamb choices as well. They have a variety of salads and sauces to choose from. My favorite sauces are the garlic and fire hot (extremely spicy!). I usually get the chicken shawarma entree with spicy rice and a side of baba ganoush. The food is tasty and freshly made. It's a modern, clean and comfortable dining space. The positive things stop there. Food takes a LONG time. Fresh food takes time to cook but they take ridiculously long, no matter what you order or how busy they are. Food is also made incorrectly almost every time. EVERY TIME. They fail to follow instructions every single time. The staff is rude and unhelpful. The soda machine is out of flavors and only offers the basics. Prices are crazy for the quality, service, and portion size. This is basically a Mediterranean chipotle but I dare you to walk out of here with a meal for less than $20. They nickel and dime you for everything...want extra sauce on your food, it's another dollar for a small ounce size cup that is less than half full. WTF? The packaging is terrible...unsustainable plastic and foam clamshells. They will occasionally email you coupons...for 5-10% off. Who is doing their marketing? You can't get my food right but you want me to buy more of it with a discount code that doesn't even cover tax? LOL! There are plenty of Mediterranean places with better food, better prices, and, most importantly, better service. Pick one of them and forget this place. read more

Got the most popular entree called "Mixed Grill" for takeout during lunch today. The entree had lots of different kinds of meat and biryani spicy rice for two people. I liked that we had different choices for the signature sauces, spread, and rice options. The options we chose for the signature sauces are Tzatziki and Fire Sauce. I personally love the Tzatziki Sauce. If you like the taste and texture of yogurt with some seasoning then, you will like this type of sauce. I wished that the container size was bigger for the amount of meat and rice we had. As for the Fire Sauce, not a big fan. It didn't really taste special to me besides just grilled chili. Wasn't crazy spicy either. I guess I shouldn't have expected too much on sauce. On to the next, I had Baba Ghanoush as a hummus spread and it was a pretty big portion. Used it for the pita bread and meat with rice. It was decent. Tzatziki Sauce can't be beaten by it though. Haha. Last but not least, there were 5 different styled types of steak and chicken meat. My favorite is the chicken kabobs (this will be my option next time I order from here). I believe the Mixed Grill option is great for first timers who want to try all types of meat (besides lamb) before they decide on their official next meal the next time they visit. I went to Crave Kabob last night for the first time for a take out order and am I glad I did. The place is beautiful, the staff was so warm and friendly. They accommodated our every wish as we had multiple orders. Everything came out fresh, made to order and smelled amazing. The manager couldn't of been nicer. By the time we returned home we were salivating and we couldn't wait to eat. It did not disappoint and in fact it went way past expectations. I liked it and ate it, but I just felt it wasn't anything special and likely would stick to my go-to's in the future. I guess I am used to other topping choices from similar type places, and I love the variety in a bowl/salad. I don't have anything bad to say just not as good as I hoped. Can you say yummmm?! Falafel was on point and so was the hummus and I don't even like hummus! I had a chicken shawarma crave bowl with mixed, regular and spicy rice and the tzatziki sauce, Jerusalem salad, and tabbouleh. I also ordered the baba ganoush on my bowl and wasn't a fan, but I had never tried it before. They offer your bowl with two salads, two spreads, and two sauces which was more than enough. Delicious and the staff was super friendly. They offered falafel and baklava on the house to my friend and I, which was awesome!!!! They were more than happy to answer questions about things that I didn't necessarily know anything about on the menu and there was a parking lot which is a huge bonus. We had a terrific experience for our first time eating at Crave Kebab. We were greeted with a friendly smiles and offered complimentary fresh made falafel to enjoy while we sorted out the kids and figured out our order. We ordered a selection of kebabs, shawarmas, rices (biryani which is slightly spicy and yellow rice) accompanied with spreads like hummus and baba ganoush should and pita bread. Everything was flavorful and definitely tasted freshly made. We also tried the "fried Mediterranean cheese" appetizer and the mint lemonade smoothie - both were excellent. Our only critical feedback Is that we wish the pita bread would've been served warm and the fattoush salad looked more like an American style side salad rather than the sumac infused fattoush that we have enjoyed at many Lebanese restaurants. On our way out the manager/owner took time to ask how we enjoyed everything and when I provided my feedback regarding the salad he let me know that if I'd like to have it again on our next visit they would be happy to make me a fattoush in the style that I prefer. Went to Crave yesterday for an early dinner and this place is completely remodeled and re-done. Looks like they spent quite a bit on modernizing the place. Not sure I agree with taking up most of the space with the kitchen and moving part of the seating upstairs. The way they've set it up, you go up to the counter, place your order and then they call out numbers. Again, with half the seating upstairs, you can't really go up there until you have your food. Overall, the system works fine. The guy behind the counter who we ordered with was OK. Actually, there was this older gentleman (I assume he's the owner) walking around and he was SO nice that the order-taking guy paled in comparison. Probably not a valid comparison... When I asked him if my falafel sandwiches come with tahini and hot sauce, the guy tried to explain to me that authentic food doesn't have more tahini and hot sauce, and actually adding on sauces ruins the flavors and perfect balance of the way they prepared the food at Crave. Ummm.... sorry, buddy, I don't accept that false logic. Then are you selling all the sauces we've come to love? They had hot, fire, garlic, tahini, tzaziki, white, etc. Such BS. It's a new place and they're probably still figuring things out, but I found it to be really annoying that they tried to pull that nonsense on me. Secondly, I ordered a small hummus and it's a good amount of hummus. However, it comes with just a single pita - which is definitely not a satisfactory level of bread to hummus ratio as far as that goes. I didn't go back up there to ask abut that as I'm sure they would've been happy to sell us extra bread. So here's the rub - Crave isn't the first Mediterranean place in Chicago. I'm used to eating sauces with my falafel sandwich. I like it with extra tahini and extra hot sauces. I am used to having enough bread with my hummus. Sure I'll buy extra bread if needed, but this felt like nickel and diming. Especially because the food isn't overly priced. If you have well-priced menu and excellent food, don't annoy people with small charges like this. Which brings me to the food. The falafel sandwich was great. Good falafel, good bread, and a really nice blend of toppings put together well. The spicy hummus order was good. Something unique... It has probably more of the sour/tart taste to it than most places, and it took me some time to adapt to that, but overall I liked it. OK, surprise item of the menu is this really awesome friend cheese platter. It was SO good. I think it's basically saganaki cheese that's slightly fried and has this tart flavor. Loved it. It's has the texture of a farmer's cheese or paneer, if you will. A bit pricey on the menu at $8, but it was really worth a try. So I'm torn on how to rate this place. The food was great and definitely deserves 4 stars and possibly 4.5. The nickel/dime thing was annoying, but I would hope they'll learn quickly and fix some of that. Really, sauces should be included with the meal and they can include more bread to match up to the portions. The service can be better - but as long as they follow the example of the owner, I don't think you could be any nicer. In summary, a lot of nice things and a few issues, but at the end of the day, I want to encourage Crave to do well and succeed. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Since my go-to Mediterranean place by my house turned into crapsville, I've been looking for a good Mediterranean place to frequent and I have found it in crave kabob!! Ordered here last night directly from their website and the delivery was fast, food was hot and we got everything we ordered. Falafel was super crunchy and flavorful Grape leaves were plentiful and fresh I love that you get an actual side salad as a side along with choices of sauce for your entree. The beef shawarma was awesome and the yellow rice was super good. My lamb kebab was cooked perfectly and was so much I had it for dinner and lunch. The hummus is some of the best I've had yet. I love all the different sauces you can choose from and the garlic tzatziki and white sauce are amazing as well as the tahini. and last I love that they have kids menu where my son can actually get chicken or beef shawarma with rice and salad instead of chicken nuggets french fries or a cheeseburger. This is one of the best shawarma wraps I've had in Chicago area and I have definitely had MANY! The food is fast and made to order and the restaurant is designed beautifully and very modern looking. Arabic music is pumping through the speakers and make the environment perfect for some authentic middle eastern food. They also have parking which is a huge bonus so you don't have to look for street parking here. Prices are very reasonable. They're flavorful, crunchy and light. When you order an entree or bowl, you get to choose some sides. All spreads are good; my favorite is the spicy hummus. Salad-wise, I recommend the chickpea or tabbouleh salad. I've preferred the tabbouleh lately since it is so fresh and lightens up heavier flavors. Dinner for two has averaged less than $30-35. Entrees come with enough food to get two meals out of them. It's fast casual, not instant -- be prepared to wait up to 10 minutes for your order. Happy to have such a good place nearby! read more

Well seasoned and not the least bit dry. The staff is pleasant and attentive. The prices are completely reasonable. And I received a nice treat recently.
