My husband and I went last night for the first time, and it definitely will NOT be the last. In fact, I can say that this will probably be my go-to place in the West Loop from now on. Crave Kabob has a very polished decor and menu, which made me think it might be a sleek new franchise I hadn't heard of yet. I asked; it's not - it's independent, and everything was developed by the owner and his family. On to the food: My husband had a crave bowl, which came with choices of plain or spicy rice, two kinds of hummus, two kinds of salad, two kinds of sauce and a protein (meat or falafel). Extremely customizable, and all the sauces are made in house. I had the lentil soup which was light, creamy and came with fresh lemon and a garnish of made-in-house pita chips. It's not quite enough for a meal on its own, so consider adding on a side. I added on the deep fried cheese appetizer since it seemed unique, and it was a winner - chewy pan-fried cheese with a light batter and slightly salty flavor. Much more similar to an Indian paneer pakora than a Mediterranean saganaki. The serving is generous enough to share (if you even want to). We also tried the falafel, which can be so hit or miss, but here they hit it. Ours was hot out of the fryer and had a thick, crunchy shell. It was minced so fine it was almost creamy on the inside with lots of fresh herbs. You can get it as the protein option in any bowl or sandwich, or as a standalone appetizer or side, so pick one and do it. Finally, a few other things I appreciated: as everyone has noted, the service was great. Everyone was super friendly, and even the gentleman stocking the drink cooler chatted with us about our meal. Everyone working the counter was knowledgeable about the recipes and helped answer questions and guide new customers through the menu. I should note that we were here late in the evening, around 9, so business was steady but not lunch-rush busy, which might make a difference in the time they are able to spend with each customer. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options throughout the menu, and according to a sign in the window their meat is halaal. And, last but not least, if you are dining in your food comes in REAL bowls or reusable baskets, and you can choose REAL silverware, not disposable plastic. I really enjoy the quality ingredients in the food. It's very flavorful. I tried the chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, and even their bowls which are keto friendly. I ordered 24 hrs in advance through grubhub only to find out they still don't get the order until the day of. I spoke with Louis who clearly was dealing not only with my office order but another as well. Handling large orders don't seem to be their strong point. His customer service skills under pressure were beyond poor to say the least. He wasn't apologetic, nor trying to compensate. Just validate why the order wasn't ready. To top it all off, when we received the food it was cold and the order was incorrect. Not a happy camper considering this was my first time ordering from here. i come here every now and then, i always get good service here from the staff.. ive tried the mix combo plate, the shawarma combo plate, gyro sandiwch ,falafel, and fried cheese.. the combo plates are pretty decent. you get a choice of rice, salad, and sauce. i love their gyro sandwich and fries! not overly greasy and the fries is nice and crispy. the falafel is pretty good, the fried cheese on the other hand i didnt enjoy at all.. it was really salty.. i never had it anywhere else before so i dont no how it suppose to taste like.. i will be continuing to come here when im around the area! read more

Being middle eastern and a restaurant owner (Mediterranean food), you can say I know a thing or two about good authentic middle eastern food. My husband and I came for dinner tonight. The best word to describe the interior is "fresh." we loved the way it was decorated and the cleanliness of the seating area. We shared the mixed grille and ordered a side of baba. The food was delicious! our favorites were the chicken and steak kabob! So juicy and tender!! I loved mixing their garlic and red sauce! It was definitely enough for two people to share and very reasonably priced. Another added benefit - customer service was exceptional! I really can't think of one negative thing about our experience tonight... besides maybe eating too much :) definitely will be back and tell our friends about this place! read more

I just went to this place for the first time a few weeks ago and it totally exceeded my expectations (which admittedly were low). Ordered a chicken kebab meal w/ falafel... yum. The best parts are that 1) they have a (small) parking lot!!!! 2) they are really good at packing orders to go so things stay in tact and it doesn't get icky!! 3) the interior is really nice and it would be super pleasant to order "for here," which i will do next time. 4) they have one of those fancy soda machines that have all the options 5) everyone was super friendly, staff and clientele I'm a big fan and will be back! read more

08/2019 My first experience: Not good when it's grease soaked half cold and less then good for a whopping $8.95 for a bowl. Really enjoyed dinner here tonight - had the chicken and beef shawarma combo plate with baba ganoush. Also comes with rice and salad. I've been on this place at least 5 times and they never let me down with their fails. Overpriced food, $5.50 for a small fattoush salad which basically is lettuce with 2 tiny pieces of tomato,9 pieces of "homemade pita croutons", half of an onion. And absolutely NO dressing. Did I mention their menu is overpriced? No flavor or that special Mediterranean magic touch, just plain condiment protein and sides, sorry but it's the truth. If your order is for to go, even is nobody at the place, you've to wait for at least 10 minutes and watch the cooks basically doing nothing but modeling, the two main guys think they are at a runway show ( you guys are handsome we get it, but we're hungry). No other Mediterranean place around so it's subway or crave kabob, come at your own risk. Why I keep coming?? You may ask... well I truly believe in supporting our community and local businesses. I was going to go to Dunkin Donuts but when I noticed this restaurant next door. I decided to try it out. The customer service up front was great. I was no happy with the wait time. They had 4 guys in the kitchen and it looked like only 2 were working. One looked like he was the owner. I usually go to Pita Inn which is much faster service and it's busier. I was disappointed with the food. More likely with the salad. It was bland. read more

Fantastic hummus. The baba ganush is smoked and it gives it an incredible flavor and aroma. They have a balawa cheescake which I have never had anywhere else. Its incredible. If your in the need of a great Middle East restaurant look no further. read more

I got the mixed platter but the chicken was my favorite! So much flavor! It's so hard to find Arab restaurants in the city and this is definitely going to be my go to! A great addition to the neighborhood. Delicious and cheap Mediterranean food with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Overall, it's great. The food is really good/fresh, big menu, the staff is very friendly, the restaurant is clean, there's a parking lot. Highly recommend the mint/lemonade smoothie, the lentil soup (it might be my favorite ever) and the shawarmas (especially when you get the garlic sauce). Only complaint is it tends to take a bit longer than you'd expect for a place like this, so you may want to keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. But otherwise definitely recommend it. read more

Fresh food at extremely reasonable price. I love their spicy rice thats included with dishes. My favorite is kufta kabob. The side sauces are great addition that set this restaurant apart from other Mediterranean places. The lentil soup is also very good. So far everything i tried is very delicious. This place was yummy. I ordered it for delivery through Postmates. They gave me an option of three different sauces which I ended up getting humus, tzaki, and babagabush. Great fast casual addition to the W Loop. Crave Kabob you owe me a carwash, the menu you left on my car on a sunny Chicago day is now baked on my windshield, you may want to rethink that mode of advertising in the future....
