My father and I absolutely LOVE their chicken tortilla soup! It is the best we have ever tasted! Highly recommend. Our last visit we noticed both the recipe and the bowl they serve it in had changed, but it was still the most delicious flavor and we both loved the extra vegetables! Service was ok, nothing special. We were checked on right after our food arrived, but then had to wait to get our check. They do get busy on Sundays after churches let out. I needed something to drink and a table to use as a desk more than I was hungry. In town for a rapid fire round of meetings,I had little time. I spotted Don Toro and while the drive up and walk in appeal were lacking,I forged ahead. Seated at a nice comfortable booth,my waitress delivered ice water pronto. Followed by chips and salsa,I relaxed and dug into some paperwork. I knew I wasn't in Dallas by the 2005 prices on the menu. I opted for a cheese enchilada with chili con carne,meat taco and rice. We really wanted to like this place, but it was typical Tex-Mex faire with ground beef for tacos. The staff were really nice and the service was quick. Chips were good but the salsa lacked heat. The rice was good and the beans were just ok...needed salt and cotija cheese. Overall it was just ok. I hope they tweak the menu and add more authentic Mexican spices. read more

We were visiting Greenville and past by Don Toro's, thought it looked fun, so popped in. We were greeted and seated right away and received our chips and salsa which were delicious. Service was excellent! The atmosphere was bright yellow and happy. Ordered the lunch chicken and steak fajitas which were perfectly cooked and generous proportioned. My sweetheart and I chose Don Toro for our Valentine's Day dinner as we thought it would be a good and romantic dinner..., or so we thought. Nope! It was a 180° around toward the worst! It took us around 30 minutes for us to wait on our chips and salsa, which we find UNACCEPTABLE! When the chips and salsa finally arrived, the salsa was smoky and fine although a bit watery... It then took us around 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive which is NOT GOOD especially when it's Valentine's Day... It then took us 40-45 minutes to wait on our main courses to arrive and we were getting really upset! We noticed several patrons next to us getting impatient and one couple threatened to leave if they don't get their foods, so that gave us a small sense of peace knowing we weren't the only ones alone. When the foods arrived (FINALLY!), it tasted okay as well... my sweetheart was unable to finish the rest of her foods, because it wasn't that good and her chicken was a bit too charred inside her burrito. My birria burrito was okay as well... We even asked the waitress to omit the queso from our order since it didn't arrive when we first asked for it earlier! Well, the waitress finally brought it over in a small to-go cup. That one small to-go cup for $5??? Main issue to rectify and address is food service and wait time. I understand that there are so many people and customers inside Don Toro for Valentine's Day... It would be really necessary to hire and put more servers and kitchen staff to work to accommodate that much of a crowd inside Don Toro. Please know that we will not go back to Don Toro again, because it took THAT long for us to wait and that really thinned our patience to the very last strand! The food was not what the picture was representing. Pointed to the exact item I wanted on the menu. The server seemed to understand. Had to reorder the items that were supposed to come with the order. Final got those items when I was almost through with the meal. Then the server tried to charge me for those items. Let me start with this, do you eat where you poop? Gosh I hope not. This was our 1st time being there and they sat us directly in line of the bathrooms. I politely asked the waitress if ahead could move us, and she literally responded " but it's just so busy". Never did she try. We sat there conversing and you could smell the urinal cakes from where we sat. Disgusting. Got our food not good. I told the waiter in spanish after he asked how the food was..I responded well let me tell you something, how would you like sitting her smelling shit and piss? He apologized, but that wasn't enough.
