We came here yesterday and since the food is so good we are back today (Friday). This is a great place for excellent food. We have been here many times, many times. We are actually from the Solano County area in Northern California so this is a real treat. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable and the restaurant staff are very friendly. I'm having Mongolian Chicken and it comes with Hot and Sour Soup. So-so-so good and delicious! My wife is having the Flounder lunch special. If you're looking for great food, come here. They are in the same center as Costco.

The food, service and ambiance here was on point. One of our go to places when in Reno.

Have you ever seen something on Yelp or Instagram that you just had to get in and get immediately? Well, that was my first time last week and the culprit was the salt and pepper pork ribs at Crawfish Asian from the first scene with the beautifully Crispy golden brown ribs being walk tossed to the final elegant plating on the black ceramic dish, it all just screamed delicious, so when Friday hit, I knew what was for dinner! These babies lived up to the visual Hite. Meaty crispy, tender, juicy, all piled high, and then showered with Crispy, fried garlic and freshly shaved jalapeños. The social media post suggested getting it with rice to heat up all the extra crispy, garlic and jalapeños, but I just ate those of my fingers and by the way you need to make sure to ask for a side of the house chili oil because it is the perfect dip to complement these golden brown ribs. For once, I didn't overheat coming here because I came in only to order one thing. And that one thing wasn't an absolute winner and you should get some on your plate! If you're not following this page on yelp or this restaurant on social media, you need to be because it'll put exciting new dishes on your radar that you won't be able to deny yourself.

Why do I forget how great this spot is ? It's not that far from home, and very near the airport. Before leaving for Europe I met up with friends for dinner here on a week night. Service was great. Food delicious. We each ordered a dish that sounded good, but smorgasbord every dish. Short ribs were tender. The duck rich and savory. Seared ahi appetizer was huge, glad we all shared. Perfect sear. The halibut cheeks arrived sizzling, and I believe we may have fought over the last bite. Located in the Costco shopping center, it's far enough away not to deal with their parking. On the east side of the strip mall with easy access parking out front.

Alex was awesome, she was ver knowledgeable on there menu and the food was great. It was nice and quiet with low music playing so it was silent and the staff seemed to enjoy each others presence which makes all the difference. I got the carmelized pork belly. They have happy hour till 6. Cool place to check out before or after stopping by costco! Would reccomend again.!!!

Had dinner with my family and had great service! The restaurant was clean and seating was comfortable. They have a great menu with all sorts of items. Food was more geared towards the western palate and was a tad saltier than my preference, but I am sure I can ask for less salt. I would certainly give them another try again. My kiddo dropped his fork twice and the employee was so kind and helpfully replaced it each time with a smile. Items ordered: Halibut cheek clay pot- Good amount of fish and loved the crispy texture. Crispy noodles with chicken- Nice crispy noodles and plenty of chicken Seafood tofu soup (small)- Perfect for a cold day and not too salty. The amount was good enough for my family of 4 to have 2 bowls each. Garlic noodles- Nice garlic flavor and not too greasy Mushroom with tofu- A tad salty for my taste but I enjoyed the textured and different types of mushrooms Thanks for the great service and family friendly atmosphere!

We had such a wonderful experience here! Our server, Hennessy, was incredibly attentive and detail-oriented--he made us feel so well taken care of throughout the night. The food was absolutely delicious. The Peking duck was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and I loved that the buns were assembled tableside--it made the whole experience feel special. For my entrée, I had the chow fun, which was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The interior is warm, welcoming, and elevated, making it a great spot for both a casual night out and a special occasion. I'm already looking forward to coming back soon!

Is this place permanently closed? I called about a dozen times on different days and weeks to order takeout but no one answered the phone. Then one time i even stopped by and it's closed. What's going on?

Went last night, it was awesome! Keep trying, maybe there were just busy or can't hear? with background noise, TVs and customers.

Yelp says the restaurant is closed and there wasn't any answer on the phone. Are they still doing takeout during the shut down?

They now completely closed with a sign indicating per Washoe County they will remain closed until further notice. :(

    Do they have lunch specials?

Most of the lunch menu is discounted usually runs about 9-11 bucks. You get a good discount on appetizers. During lunch it's $5 poke cup and discounted oysters.

What time is their happy hour?

    4-6 pm M-F. Go!

The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. My favorite three were the ahi tuna, the black cod and the brilliant asian/french mash up of red Bean Creme Brulee. I also need to mention, I loved the lamb tenderloin. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. Even though Kwok's is right across the street from where I live, this restaurant would be at the top of my list of "I would drive out of my way to eat here"

To start, you can't go wrong with the enthusiastic welcome we always receive. Then quickly seated and wine poured. The 2026 CNY menu was fabulous, with some great surprises. The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. Mmmm this course and a glass of wine could be dinner alone any other evening. The soft creamy rich egg custard was hidden under a thick seafood gravy. I really enjoyed this unique dish. The miso black cod is always flaky and delicious. And the crab fried rice it's nestled on also never disappoints. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious. Small inside seating area, so recommend always make a reservation. In the summer there's a fabulous patio area out front. Limited street parking.

We started with an appetizer that was a bit dry and tasteless, then moved on to the main courses. I had the shrimp with the fried noodles. It was fresh and enjoyable, but the broth literally wasn't seasoned. Salt please! My son's duck was also good but definitely overcooked and dry. The best by far was his friends Szechuan Beef, which would probably have me come back just for that. The restaurant is in a cute little strip mall and the interior was quite cozy and attractive. The service was also a letdown, as there was no friendliness, no smiles, just clinical service. Overall I would say there are many other restaurants I would choose over this, but we had to give it a try. Cheers, JimG

In case you're not aware, though the name of this restaurant references a specific city in northern China and the menu has dishes from across the country, their specialty is the spicy and numbing cuisine of the Sichuan region. If you've never had this before, when you see dishes listed as spicy, they may be very different from what you're thinking. It's certainly can be a polarizing experience, with many loving this flavor and many not into it at all, but the broad menu makes this a great call for everyone. Now I love dining with others who are familiar because it lets you explore the menu through their eyes and enjoy selections made by others with taste diverse from yours. My friend picked several dishes I would've never noticed or ordered blindly this time, and I'm so happy about that. We enjoyed the cold Woodear or black fungus in chili oil, classic snow pea tips with garlic, as well as the quintessential Sichuan cumin lamb, but the other three dishes we had were 100% new to me. Those included Sichuan snails (unshelled in an oily spicy stir fry), scallops with garlic and vermicelli, and crispy spicy intestines. The snails were a win. These are small and somewhat chewy morsels that get wok fried with fried chili, chili oil, peppers and onions. The texture is similar to sautéed calamari, but a bit firmer, and the sauce coats everything with that signature numbing heat. The scallops were the big miss. This dish typically comes in the half shell with fresh scallops, but here they're using a lower quality scallop (likely frozen) and a lot of pre-minced garlic (like you'd find in a jar). It looks impressive but the scallops had absolutely not flavor and the texture was rubbery too. Skip this one for sure. The intestines were the surprise. I've had fried intestines and they crunch like a chip and have no distinct flavor that lets you know what you're eating. These were sliced on the bias and wok tossed until super crispy on the outside with a delicately chewy interior. The sauce really amplified the flavor and this all made for a great bite within the whole meal. All in all, this is a home run. If you haven't been, I urge you to check it out, as it's one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants around.

We ordered the Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken, Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun, and Gai Lan with Beef. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. With "Hong Kong Diner" in the name, I was expecting authentic Cantonese stir-fries with good wok hei. Unfortunately, the Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun lacked that signature smoky flavor, and the texture was closer to lo fun than traditional chow fun. The Gai Lan with Beef also lacked wok hei. The outer layer of the gai lan stems had been peeled away, so the stems lost the crisp texture that makes gai lan so enjoyable. The Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken was overly tender and quite salty. It seemed to be marinated so heavily that I couldn't really taste the natural flavor of the chicken. Overall, the restaurant offers generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I just wish the Cantonese dishes had delivered the wok hei I was expecting from a place with "Hong Kong Diner" in its name. :)

The wood ear in it was excellent, but I've never seen it in pad thai. The thai ice tea was good, maybe a bit heavy on sweetener. I don't understand the high ratings here, based pireh on food. We decided to make it our next date night spot. We went on a Friday around 5:30 and it wasn't very crowded yet. They asked if we preferred a table or a booth, and we went with a booth near the front. The restaurant itself is really nice, but I'll say the booth felt a little tight. Next time, we'll probably go with a table for a bit more space. The service was top notch. The staff was incredibly attentive, and our drinks were constantly refilled. Our glasses were never empty, which always stands out. About 15 minutes after we sat down, the place filled up fast. It seemed like most people coming in had reservations, so I'd definitely recommend making one if you're planning to go after 6 pm. We decided on the Shanghai Dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken. I was tempted by the cashew chicken and kung pao chicken, but we'll save those for next time. The appetizers were amazing. The meal comes with spring rolls, crab rangoon, paper wrapped chicken, and honey glazed BBQ spareribs. Everything was delicious. My wife loved the paper wrapped chicken, and for me, the ribs were the standout. They were tender with just the right hint of sweetness. Honestly, I could've eaten a full plate of just those and been happy. For sides, I had the egg flower soup, which was really flavorful, and my wife had the salad. She could not stop talking about how good the dressing was. Both the sweet and sour pork and chicken were great. The sauce had that perfect tangy, slightly sweet flavor. That said, next time we probably won't order the same sauce for both dishes. I think pairing something like sweet and sour with kung pao would give a better balance with a little heat to cut through the sweetness. Overall, this place is a winner. Great food, solid portions, and the price is very reasonable at about $33 per person for the Shanghai Dinner. My wife enjoyed everything so much that after seeing another table order the duck, she's already talking about coming back to try it. I've been trying to get her to try duck for a while, so I'm looking forward to that next visit. We'll definitely be back.
