This place really hit the spot. The Sizzling Rice Soup was the standout--hot, comforting, and full of flavor, with that satisfying crunch when the rice hits the broth. Easily one of the better versions I've had. The Kung Pao Chicken was done right: tender chicken, well-balanced sauce, and just the right level of spice without being overpowering. Not overly sweet or oily, which I appreciated. We also ordered the Bok Choy, and it was simple but perfectly cooked--fresh, crisp, and nicely seasoned. A great complement to the richer dishes. Overall, solid execution on classic Chinese dishes. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. I'd definitely come back and explore more of the menu. read more

I really wanted to give this place the opportunity since whenever I passed by I saw the menu and it looked attractive. My first impression was not very good since it was 6 pm on Saturday and there was only one couple. After we arrived, two more couples arrived but it was still a little uncomfortable to eat or talk since everything was very quiet. There was only 1 person attending but she was very cordial and friendly. We ordered a special dinner for 2 people which includes soup, appetizers, fried or boiled rice and main course. We ordered wonton soup and the truth is that it was delicious and at that moment I changed my perspective of the place but then I was disappointed since 4 of 8 appetizers were burned. We ordered pork fried rice and it tasted very good although it was a little salty also as a main course we order kung Pao chicken ( it didn't have much chicken and it was just onion with celery and peanuts ) and lemon chicken ( This one tasted good and was crunchy ). I ordered from them for my graduation party. It was such an unnecessarily convoluted process. I was unable to order online as their website was not working. Ordering over the phone was difficult as they had just changed their payment system and it took multiple attempts to get them my card information. On the day of when my food was picked up my order was missing a tray of white rice and they refused to refund me for the error. The food itself was just fine and pretty small as far as proportions went relative to cost (~550$). It might be a better experience if you get a single order, but ultimately would not recommend for catering. Pretty decent considering the area. Noodle texture was good but was a bit salty for my liking. Tomato beef was yummy and sauce was sweet. Beef with mushrooms and bamboo shoots wasn't bad either. This place is cheap and the food is edible. The staff are friendly and tries their best to serve professionally. I personally think that this buffet is the best one in Reno. The kids like it here and they actually eat, which matters the most. I'd rather go to duck house for authentic Cantonese food...but it's unfair since King buffet is mainland owned and caters more towards non Asians. I had the Kung Pao Chicken I wasn't happy with the dish it had more onions and peanuts than chicken, before the main dish they brought us appetizer and soup which was good. Upon finding menus from this place displayed at the check-in counter of my Reno Hotel, I have to admit being intrigued just by the name. I have traveled to and around Reno for decades and have never heard of this place so I thought maybe, just maybe, Reno now had an awesome authentic Hong Kong style spot. (Spoiler alert: Reno does not.) I noted that there were a few fairly negative reviews of the spot with one commenting on the smell of raw sewage upon entry. I will admit that when I drove up, several of my instant cues of non-authenticity were triggered (such as an empty parking lot, large food pictures plastered in the window attempting to attract a non-existent audience, an empty restaurant, and 2 workers sitting in the dining room looking very bored). There was also a faintly feculent odor that was covered up by air freshener but it was short-lived once I walked in and I could not tell if it was coming from inside or outside of the restaurant. I pondered about whether to abandon the mission but the gravitational pull of the restaurant name promising Hong Kong cuisine was strong. And, since the 2 workers I first saw sitting in the place were Chinese, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and place an order for take-away. What should have really tipped me off that something was not right was that there was nothing vaguely resembling Hong Kong style food on the menu. The prices did seem to resemble full on capitalism as they were fairly expensive for such a small spot that looked like it was begging for business. Most items were north of $16 which was surprising to me as I expect that pricing to be in large expensive cities, not in cow towns. I asked for a few common authentic items such as Bitter Melon (fu qua) or Chicken and salted fish (hom yee) fried rice and was told that they did not have that and have never had them. They did, however, have very westernized items on the menu that would probably appeal to most people that don't know any better. The "2 Guys from Hong Kong" name, coupled with a lack of menu authenticity left me feeling bait and switch swindled. I was told that maybe they would have those menu items in the future but am doubtful of the sincerity of that statement. In the end, the food was about what you would expect in a very Americanized small Chinese restaurant in a city without a large Asian population. I would say that it is serviceable in the same way that Domino's is to an Italian seeking pizza. It will scratch the itch, but barely so. read more

It's just an adjustment I'm still getting used to. Anyways..... Small, clean, quiet with no fish tank in sight, I walk into 2 Guys From Hong Kong hoping for the best. Super pricey so I am optimistic about the future of my order. $13.00-$40.00 is the range for dinner combos. Upcharge applies for chow mein. My go-to chow fun is "up there" coming in at $13.95. I opt for the dinner combo A and an order of egg rolls. I hurry home and dig into a bland batch of fried rice that tastes like it's been sitting around since the Ming dynasty. I was so surprised and how calm and quiet this strip mall store was. Nice change from the others. SARA was our server. Very nice and attentive, telling us that the business had been open by her grandfather. That customers had been coming back for years. When we got our food we could see why. Anything you order would not be a disappointment. So used to take out food that was bland and unremarkable. The flavors were spectacular. We are going back today. We wanted others to be aware there are great Chinese food places out here less than $40 we ate plus all of the left overs we took home for a second ond meal. Egg rolls. It hits all the right buttons for the cravings we have. The dinners were bigger than expected. That leaves us with leftovers for tonight. We spent $35 Tonight, and the only reason I'm eating any of it is so I don't waste the money. Still, some of it went in the trash. Vegitable chow mein was way overcooked, with a mushy, weird texture. Bland. Bits of cold, uncooked vegitables. What the heck dude. The General chicken was also bland and Mushy. It's supposed to be crispy, spicy, and flavorful. This tastes like they got store bought crap and threw it in a to go container. And the worst part? Parts of it were undercooked and cold, making me wonder if they microwaved it instead of frying it. Must be under new ownership as of Jan 2025. The prior owner has had Chinese restaurants in the Reno/Sparks area for at least 40 years. They started out as the Golden Chopsticks in Sparks. Now, with new owners, everything is different as the menu, packaging, and atmosphere. The front window is covered with pictures of menu items. To me, that is something of a junky carnival atmosphere. I had ordered online takeout dinner for myself and my wife. I arrived 20 minutes early as my errands went quicker than expect. It was there in an insulated container. Not good as not as fresh as I would expect but still not huge. The packaging was junk clear plastic and styrofoam containers instead of the standard Chinese food paper square boxes. I don't like more plastic than necessary. The menu is not the same at all with several dozen choices. The items were heavy with mostly starch as pasta, rice and corn starch. Light on veggies and protein (meat). My thought was that Panda Express is much better. It just did not taste right. In my opinion, Two Guys has gone from one of the better Chinese restaurants in Washoe county to probably the worst. I asked my wife if we should order from them in the future. Ok, so i decided to try an old restaurant today to see if they still cut the mustard. They dont. I ordered the kung pao beef, which is all to rarely left off so many menus. I ordered a side of veggie eggrolls as well. I got the lunch special (which also comes with crab rangoon and soup), and all of the above came to $11.45. Not bad, but not cheap so i expected quality. The kung pao beef was ok, plenty of peanuts on top, a few dried chiles which were not fresh because i can still feel my tongue due to the blandness. The ice cream scoop of fried rice was also a bit disappointing, i expected a little more carbs with my sodium. The crab rangoon was meh as well. The egg flower soup was meh. The egg rolls however, thats where it gets crazy! They were meh. I have no ill feelings toward this place, i think i should have just gone with the honey walnut shrimp, which has never let me down. If you are in the mood for chinese food in this price range though, please take the 10 minute drive downtown, Plumas north to California west and visit China Dynasty Bistro. I was craving dumplings and this was the only place I saw dumplings on the menu. I probably ordered too much food and I did. The portions were very big. The dumpling appetizer could feed 3 people easily but it isn't listed on lunch menu so it is probably good advice to order this with 3 or more. I also ordered the basil chicken and and it was good with a nice hint of basil and some onions and peppers it is a nice dish. Okay folks, if you never been to this place, I can't recommend this restaurant fast enough or highly enough to anyone willing and unwilling to listen. And I'm going to suggest you come hungry with a friend. Unless you order their lunch/dinner specials (minimum of two for dinner) you are going to get portions suitable for at least two people. So far, I've ordered one to-go order with a couple of appetizers and even that I thought was kind of large for a take-out order. But this day, I decided to sit down inside and order their idea of a small soup (24 oz!), a single order of pot stickers (8) and their Mango Chicken curry with steamed rice. Okay, their takeout menu clearly lists a cup of soup but I didn't notice "cup" listed on their main menu (but it's listed on their take-out menu). Still enjoyed their Hot/Sour soup. Right flavor and consistency. Pot stickers were also enjoyable. Who doesn't like properly made pot stickers. Don't know if they were frozen or house made. Mango Chicken Curry: As I have said, it's made for two people and I am not sure even if I was 30 years younger, I would have eaten it all in one sitting. Right enough spice for the curry to come through and the vegetables were a bigger cut that I like. Even the sliced chicken pieces were on the larger size instead of the chicken bits you would normally get elsewhere. I don't know. I've been here twice and both times the food was very bland. Felt like I was just eating ingredients. I did try dishes I had never had so maybe they were meant to be that way? I just really didn't enjoy the food and had to kind of force myself to finish the dishes since I didn't want to waste the money I had spent. The last order I made was the ma-po tofu and chicken w/ mushroom. You'd think that ma-po tofu would have plenty of flavor and spice but it was just like I was eating a container of plain tofu.
