I've dined here twice. The first time was a mixture of sushi and a couple of the Chinese entrees. Was okay but not overly impressed. Did the AYCE Sushi this last visit. Like the Peppermill and Atlantis, it's pricier than the other places in town ($44 vs $34) but the 20% off local's discount if you signed up for the rewards club evens it up. AYCE Selection is about 75% the choices you'd normally get (similar to Peppermill). No Unagi, Scallop, Snapper, or Albacore Nigiri, but strangely one of the best things I had was a spicey scallop handroll. Size of the cuts of the fish on the Nigiri are arguably the largest in Reno and top quality for AYCE. Rice, the most important thing, was a bit over seasoned, but on the vinegar not the sugar, that's a first for me in Reno, it's common they put too much sugar in the rice. The Sushi chef pressed the rice together too hard so that on the Nigiri the amount of rice didn't look too large but it was really dense (a rice bomb) and filling. Service was excellent being able to order directly from the Sushi Chef but we showed up right when it opened at 5pm to make sure we got a seat at the sushi bar, the only place you can get the AYCE. I could tell though once the place gets busy, it will take a lot longer to get your orders so I'd order double what you want (assuming you can eat it) when it's busy. The Chinese food prices are on the high end for Chinese in general but not unreasonable considering it is an upscale restaurant. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than going to the steak house next door. read more

All three were decent.. Side of veggies and a sweet and sour chicken.. Really enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken- tender pieces of chicken and not too saucy. Glad he was able to enjoy. read more

Rim Asian Bistro is located on the casino floor at the Grand Sierra Resort, right next to the Grand Buffet. Since I wasn't in the mood for a buffet, I decided to give this spot a try, especially since they offer a wide variety of dishes. I was craving soup and ordered the Bang Bang udon noodles, expecting something closer to a traditional udon. That was my mistake for not reading the menu more carefully--but I was still open to trying it. When the dish arrived, it looked great, but unfortunately, the taste didn't match the presentation. It was overly sweet, and the noodles were undercooked. I also ordered the Grand Platter sushi, which was just okay--nothing particularly memorable. On a positive note, the service was excellent. My waitress was very kind and accommodating, took the udon back without any issue, and removed it from the bill. That level of service definitely stood out and is the main reason for my 3-star rating. read more

Came here with friends on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy. Made a reservation beforehand so there wasn't a long wait to get seated. I never realized that they had the extra dining space in the center of the restaurant strip specifically for Rim. We were seated in the enclosed portion directly across from the Buffet. It had a nice decor to it with dimmed lighting but because it was enclosed, it was super noisy once it was packed with diners. A little difficult to enjoy conversations over a meal. Our server was great when it came to recommendations, friendliness, and taking our order. We ordered mojitos and a lychee lemon drop which were really good. They were delivered to our table right away but food took at least half an hour to arrive. My friends ordered sushi and green curry while I tried their Korean short ribs. We all enjoyed the food. The short ribs tasted pretty good, just not quite the same flavors as other Korean short ribs I've had elsewhere. read more

Celebrating Chinese New Year with my son and took advantage of the CNY menu and was very happy and satisfied. My son also ordered lobster fried rice and some sushi which both were delicious. It's been awhile since I've eaten here and I am impressed with the menu. Granted it has been about 7 years since the last time eating here for the only reason being there are other great restaurants here that compete. I loved the long life noodles and really loved the sea bass. Nicely spiced with scallions and ginger. Service was very fast. They were very busy on a Saturday night. I've tried this place several times and it just doesn't hit. Sushi is ok. Just ok, especially for the almost $50 AYCE price tag (which is only available at the sushi bar). Service is hard to come by. You'll have to wait 15-20 minutes for a drink refill. The lighting is also very dim. The item portions and quality are very different than most traditional sushi spots. Their miso soup for instance is HUGE. It's basically in a ramen bowl and lacks miso flavor. The sushi is very bland. Skip on the sashimi and raw fish. It's not fresh.The hand rolls are the only things worth eating. Salmon skin and spicy scallop ones are good. Come here at your own risk! read more

My group decided to eat here since it's inside of GSR which an event we were going to was hosting so for ease of planning we made a reservation for this place. The main restaurant is tucked in a corner so there's not a lot of tables which is why they opened another section, across the way to accommodate bigger groups like mine. The restaurant itself was fine, decorated nicely and service was ok. I didn't think it was a crazy night but we didn't get checked on often which led us to not having any refilled water. The food wasn't great, I hate to say it. Seemed to be overpriced for what we got. The quality and taste was mid but the portions are generous. So don't set your expectations too high and I think you'll be fine. Also don't be fooled into upgrading your rice to fried rice. Multiple people in our group did upgrade and we had to share a small plate of fried rice. As opposed to keeping the steam rice where we each had our own portion. So overall thoughts, come here but know you're not getting stellar food and you're going to pay a premium for having the restaurant being conveniently located but it's nothing to rave about unfortunately. read more

So we have been here before, and they put us in some room away from the restaurant...and the food was just OK. We were here for a Saturday comp, and decided we would give this one more try...I am glad we did this. This time they put us in the main restaurant, and it was so much better! We ordered two big Sapporos to start...I thought these were fairly priced...we were not terribly hungry so we split an order of beef chow fun and asked for it spicy. This was very good and plenty of food for us. I thought the beef was plentiful and the dish was very tasty. June 30, 2026 I arrived at Rim from working to try some food The price was a little expensive which is understandable because it's inside a casino. Natnicha (or poppy as her nickname) and someone else was the server at that night, they were rushing me to order food they approached me the first time and I kindly ask them to give me 5 mins as I wanted to read the whole menu, 30 seconds later they came back asking me if I was ready to order which was not very good. As soon as I received my food, honestly I expected better. Later the night Natnicha came to me complained to me about the tip and it was very unprofessional of her to complain to me about a tip that I left. I came here with a group of 5 on a Friday night. We had set reservations, but we were running a bit behind so called and they were able to accommodate us for a little later of a time. We got there and they sat us in a nice booth. Fernando was our waiter and he was excellent. We ordered a few things and shared family style- 2 sushi rolls, ribs, honey Walnut shrimp, sweet and sour pork, green beans with chicken, etc. I forgot all about getting chow mein/chow fun - bc that was already a lot of food, but next time would want to try that. Rim has been a staple in GSR for as long as I can remember though it's a struggle to understand why if the experience is consist with my own. Best aspect is that it's fairly well decorated, it's a clean aesthetic with a little Asian inspired flair. Unfortunately service can only be described as waiting. Every step of the dining process was more waiting than it was enjoying food or receiving menus/checks. I think it took about 2 hours to make it through a quick app and entree meal. Food was equally disappointing with the Kung Pao Chicken lacking any semblance of pow and hardly distinguishable from just corn syrup in taste and consistency. Shockingly the green beans were cooked excellently with a satisfying crunch but was accompanied with very gray beef. Overall it was too long and too much for too little experience. read more

I'm not a huge sushi fan compared to the rest of our group, so we didn't go for the unlimited sushi option--but it was absolutely worth it! Everything was delicious and the serving sizes were good for the prices. No complaints about the food or the service at all. I've been to Rim Asian Bistro a few times now, and somehow it just gets better every visit. A buddy was in town for a couple of nights and wanted sushi, and I knew the only place that would be a guaranteed hit was Rim. We opted for the "all you can eat" bar seating, where a sushi chef works right in front of you and makes anything you request. We were lucky enough to sit with Chef Rose, and she made the entire experience unforgettable. I let her know about my shrimp allergy and she immediately took care of everything--no worries at all. This time I decided not to order from the menu and instead told her a few things I like, then gave her full creative freedom. She absolutely delivered. Every dish she crafted was fresh, delicious, and full of fun surprises. Another thing I love about Rim is how clean, welcoming, and enjoyable the ambiance is. The restaurant feels well cared for, comfortable, and relaxing--perfect for settling in and enjoying great food and conversation. Combined with the energy at the sushi bar, it makes the whole experience even better. Beyond the food and the setting, the conversation made the meal truly memorable. We received our sushi plates and wondered if they donot serve it. When we asked the server apologized and brought it. Good thing about ordering Mochi ice cream is that you get multiple flavors- mango, strawberry and chocolate. They were out of coconut chocolate parfait so we ordered Ube white Chocolate cheesecake. We went here for our Christmas dinner. It is our tradition to have Chinese food on the holiday. We made a reservation. When we got there, there was not many people. We were seated quickly. Sandra was our server. The is very efficient and knows the e menu. We ordered the appetizer platter and the house salad. It came out quickly. Both were very tasty. For the entrees we ordered beef and asparagus, chicken chow mein, and honey walnut shrimp. Everything was so good. There wasn't much left over, which is a good sign! If you have had sushi/sashimi before and it was a positive experience, you might want to pass on this restaurant. The yellow tail was good, but the octopus tasted like water. It had probably been thawed earlier in the day. We also had a sushi roll with tempura shrimp that was marginal at best. Rim has a semicircle full bar (where food is also served) up front as you arrive. Deeper in are tables and another sushi bar way at the back. About 10 minutes after having been seated in the back sushi bar, I was told a server would be with me soon. About ten minutes after that, I was asked what I wanted to drink and got an apology. I ordered sake. It never came. Ten minutes later I walked up to the bar at the entrance where the service was much more attentive. I ordered a dirty martini, letting them know that I knew they were hard to make and I had been told that a specific server made a great one. Martinis didn't turn out to be her expertise. It wasn't horrible, but was not great. Maybe expecting good sashimi/sushi in the desert was naive. Maybe expecting a great martini in a casino hotel was as well. Given the reviews I didn't expect much.... However I was very surprised at how good my Rim fried rice was and the price was very fair (24$) for not only a casino but the portion was shareable. The pork was a tad bit fatty and sweet but I loved the shrimp. I was with three girlfriends that preferred sushi and they ordered four rolls all of which they enjoyed. Golden gate, snow mountain, lion king, and mango tango. One sake which my friend said was just fine and one raspMary martini which I tried It wasn't bad. I saw them making some good looking virgin Mojitos with lavender in them. I wish I would have tried one. We sat at the bar outside the restaurant so no notes for inside. The two girls working in the Bar handled it well for as busy as it was for a country concert weekend and a volleyball tournament weekend. Food came out pretty fast. Locals discount. Gluten free items clearly marked (so helpful!!) I hope the rice tastes the same because I will be back for that. read more

If I could give this establishment which is part of the GSR a negative star I would! I came to have dinner with my coworker tonight and I was never asked or tended to for almost 35 minutes. It's a shame bc the food and drinks are very delicious and never a dull taste. The bartender/ server CHRIS was the most rude and horrible servant I've ever met and have experienced. For $41, you can definitely have a better experience at another place with more variety and better tasting fish. They only offered all you can eat at the sushi bar (no tables) and it's not available on Friday or Saturdays. Eaten here before. Tried to sit for the AYCE Sushi for $42.00 even for mediocre food this seems like a decent deal to fill up on but they have limited seating at the sushi bar and it was full. I asked to wait for a seat, they aid no, it was only 7:30 pm, WTH? Had to sit in the regular bar at the front. We got good service from the friendly bartender and food came pretty quickly but out of 4 items only the papaya salad with shrimp was any good. The rest were very small portions and mediocre at best for an expensive price. I have yet to find a decent restaurant in this casino. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant for the second time in recent months. The first visit was amazing, my wife, and best friend sat in the restaurant during that visit. The food and service was spectacular. This most recent visit was yesterday 11/21/25 and my buddy and I sat at the sushi counter to enjoy the AYCE menu. Our sushi chef was Rose, she was absolutely amazing, engaged with us, and very attentive. Every order we made was amazing, the fish was very fresh and delicious. We made a point of requesting the manager to come over and have a discussion on our experience. We shared how wonderful the food and Rose was as our chef. My wife and I live in the Bay Area, but we travel to Reno every few months for a long weekend getaway. We will be making this restaurant as must stop each trip. read more

"Asian fusion" is always scary, but I've got a sprained ankle and I'm stuck in the GSR Casino for better or for worse. I'm a "glass is half full guy, so let's start with: better: weirdly, the hamachi nigiri sushi was fresh (I knew I was taking a chance in the desert and was willing to back out based on smell). Unfortunately the cooked unagi and (no doubt frozen and Frankenstein'd) snow crab, smelled and tasted off. Also, even though I piled up a $120 tab including other cuisines (Mongolian Beef was some of the best I've ever had-hence the 3 stars), the waitress did not remove the offending sushi from my bill. She was very affable though and props to GSR to hiring a great company person. read more

Not my initial choice to round out our two week "Asian invasion", but a reliable friend vouches for them. So here we are and btw, the friend was correct. We called and made reservations a week ago. Once we arrived I realized we were here three years ago before a Doughtry concert. One of the best meals we've had in Reno. No surprise that today was exceptional. Mrs. E.'s favourite dish is the Garlic Green beans. Couple that with the Chicken with Spicy Garlic sauce, she's sleeping in the other room tonight. I insist on the Roasted Peking Duck with the Hoisin. The Edamame is good, the baked mussels are much better. I'm no expert on Mongolian, but I feel this is the best tasting we've had in the area. Ambiance is important to me when dining out so honestly this is the second time I've had reservations for a GSR restaurant only to be seated in the overflow room. This room has zero character and snake skin chairs that make my skin crawl. First it was for Charlie Palmer and now for Rim. It's very disappointing considering the price you'll pay to dine at these places. Now for the drinks they're good but remember if you order a shot it will be a double. Sushi is ok nothing outstanding and we didn't even finish one of the rolls because the quality was pretty basic bordering on grocery store sushi which some stores have upped their game but they aren't charging $21-25 per roll like Rim is. I'm wary to make any more reservations at GSR for fear I'll end up in an overflow room once again. Parking also is getting a bit tight for GSR given they started construction on the arena so plan ahead so you have time to get to any shows or reservations. Valet is available but prices are never posted. read more

If you're staying at the Grand Sierra Resort, this is the place to eat. We've been at the hotel for a few conventions, and this is where we always end up. We walk around and see which other places there are to eat and then we head to Rim. Very nice atmosphere. The workers from a bus boy up to their general manager are all friendly and efficient. They have a bar up front by their hostess desk, a regular restaurant seating area, and a generous overflow just across from the front entrance. They have a simple but extensive menu with appetizers, entrees, sushi and tempura selections, sides, desserts, and plenty of drinks. My go to for dinner is their Sweet and Sour Chicken. Served with a generous helping of steamed rice. Very good serving size and full of flavor. I usually get some of it to go for another meal later. My wife usually gets one of their noodle salads. The last couple of visits we were helped by Monica who did a fantastic job of helping our parties of 3 and then of 5. Can't go wrong with Rim on your next visit to GSR. read more

Fortunately there were two seats at the bar. *Note to self, make a reservation if you want to do the All You Can Eat Buffett. We were fortunate to have Michelle, although I think she was a humanoid robot. She was nice, efficient, and never let us feel ignored. She moves fast and works like 3 people. Michelle was working with a new employee who made a mistake and Michelle graciously told the employee and solved the mistake without a fuss from anyone. I took my Pad Thai leftovers home. It is on the sweeter side so was great for breakfast. To be honest, I thought the Hamachi Roll was small but the whole thing fit nicely in my mouth and I could still talk. The flavors were yummy. Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but I was pretty sure we had the Papaya Salad with Shrimp here. I double checked the menu but didn't see it...anyway the salad was beautiful. Tasted like a traditional Papaya Salad. I had a glass of the Cab Federalist. I was really happy, very berry and smooth ending. I often have Justin so it was a nice change and I think retail is only $20 for a bottle! The ambiance at the bar is a little noisy but it also makes a fun people watching spot. this is beginning to become a rant sesson on my reno trip. this place start off bad. i was at the reception and simply had one finger up to indicate one and the reception dude was like giving me attitude. i had my index finger up... just fyi i just went to the bar and skip the reception. order the rim sushi platter for $35. it was 8 pieces of sushi with cucumber maki.... wow, this for $35. i was really shock. too bad i didnt take a photo. I get better sushi from osaka supermarket for cheaper. i know u pay double vs supermarket. but, in this case, the supermarket sushi is better@!! i can get a full on plate of sushi with uni as well for $35 at osaka... $35 + 15 for beer. another $50 bucks down the drain.... i did notice ayce for $50, should have just done that as the rolls my neighbor at the bar order did look alot better then what i got.... anyways, another subpar meal... that's 2 for 2 in this hotel... should i even review the hotel. read more

I went to GSR with the family for a basketball tournament at the end of May. We have gone to GSR many times and this is our second time trying Rim. I wanted to give them a second chance but again, it was a waste of money. I made reservations and we got sat right behind the hosts table when the whole restaurant was empty. I felt like they wanted to hide us in a corner because we had a kid. Then we didn't get water or the wine we ordered. Poor service and it was truly disappointing. We won't be back. read more

Only hiccup was our entrees came before our appetizers which has happened in the past but Alexander handled it by offering us dessert for the mess up. On 5/24 I left there with authorities called and reports made. My guy had ordered us food and told them specifically that I have a food allegy(shellfish) and they did not do us well. They mis handled the order by putting No Crab, etc etc. but not specifically SHELLFISH ALLERGY. When we got our order I found my rolls in the same container as his, which his was full of shrimp. It was touching my food, but not by much, so I scraped off what touched and continued to eat mine. But it took anyway and I felt sick soon after and ran to the bathroom and threw up. I marched back to RIM and complained to the manager which his name was M. Bryan. He was a terrible person to me who only wanted to maintain his reputation and move me along. His body language in his eyes and verbal nature showed he did not care of my health and it made matters worse. He called EMS and security and kept walking off dismissing me and my complaint. I then had to make a report to the head of security and it ended well with him. He told me to wait for a call from Michael Munda, who is Corp. Director of Risk and Safety and had not heard from him at all. I left voicemails and emails and nothing. Trash RIM manager, Trash Corp Director and we will bot be coming back to your trash restaurant who cannot perform in their civic duties and professional nature. I will continue to press this complaint online because yall cant be professional and hire competent employees and get shit done. Im good ar spreading the word and I always come out on top; so fuck yall and your disgusting behaviors!
