I came here with my little sister & we came with outside drinks which i agree is rude! Well we sat down & ordered food which during we already felt uncomfortable as we were getting stared at...then we get yelled at by some guy screaming on the whole place that we need to throw out or leave them outside!!! I mean leave them outside??? Anyway i get it but theres other ways of handling the situation like coming up to us and just being nice and saying I'm so sorry but you cant have outside drinks in here which i get!! But not getting yelled at & by the time food came out we didn't even want it!! Great coffee and food but the service from the gentleman is horrible. He doesn't greet his customers, doesn't ask how can I help you just bark questions. Too bad because I love supporting family owned businesses but I guess I get the customer service across the street at Starbucks. Mediocre espresso drinks, mediocre food. Grumpy, slow service. I've been here a couple times just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, but no, it's just them. This time my latte was so hot that I could hardly even hold the cup and the coffee was virtually exploding out of the lid. The older man, with a thick accent, who took my order seemed none too pleased to be there and got frustrated when I couldn't understand him then started to choose for me. Whenever I'm in town, I come to this place for the delicious caramel latte's & almond croissants. When I arrived to place my order this morning, A man named Stephon informed that the Almond Croissants were sold out. However, seeing the look of disappointment in my face, Stephon told me that if I was willing to wait 10 minutes, he would personally make me an almond croissant. I waited 10 minutes & I had a fresh hot almond croissant delivered to my table. I know this may sound a insignificant, but customer service like this is rarely seen & I had to make note of it. Terrible experience. The staff doesn't know how to make avocado toast. If you want to load up on carbs then come here for avocado toast. You get a super big piece of bread with the smallest amount of avocado toast. Everywhere is two slices. Here just one so thatAnd god forbid if you're a vegan then everything is extra. pros: wifi is somewhat hit-or-miss but usually ok, with a few outlets for you to charge. drinks are pretty good, pesto pasta was ok but not great. there's tons of seating, both indoors and outdoors. it's not too loud in there. prices are definitely a better alternative than the starbucks across the street. the usual barista/cashier - the taller guy with dark hair - is really friendly. cons: the owner! (or at least the one i think is the owner - the shorter guy with white hair and glasses) he's kinda rude and barely looks at me when i'm ordering my drinks - but decided to be friendly that one time when he came up to me while i was doing my work to ask "where i'm from" (because i'm asian...) and to tell me i'm beautiful. The whole team is so hospitable, the ambiance is awesome and high class, the food has BECOME excellent (those bad revIews are maybe from when they first opened) and prices are super fare. Originally I thought this would be a full service diner but it's just a glorified Starbucks. They didn't do much remodeling and left much of the original Cafe Bene decor, but it seems out of place and awkward. I ordered a green juice and it was alright. I wanted to try one of their desserts but the display looked a bit dirty and not appetizing. They have free wifi so there will be a lot of people sitting there working on their laptops and not really eating. read more

Fantastic new place! A kosher cafe was always needed in Great Neck and I was so happy with the results. I got a tomato and basil soup with homemade croutons that was absolutely delicious. I also shared a vegetable mozzarella panini on ciabatta that was so satisfying. Love the friendly staff and the decor! Will definitely be back again. read more

Coffee is ok. The milk isn't out for self serve?? I can't believe on their menu they put "omelette" for $6 but the "omelette" is just eggs. If you want anything actually in the omelette its $2.50 for veggies and more for cheese. The young guy behind the counter is nice, but the older one is a bit cold. They didn't even remove the old "Caffe" from Caffe Bene on the windows. May as well go across the tracks and get cheaper coffee from the newspaper stand. read more

Food deserves 5 stars, but the man at the front counter is so awful I had to take one away. I usually always get the avocado toast and it is SO good..they load it up with avocado and feta so I was confused about other reviews saying it's not worth the price. I'd say it's a very generous portion compared to other spots. Anyways, I try something new in addition to that every time I go. I've had a few different salads, the dirty burger and the traditional panini. Everything is always phenomenal and leaves me wanting more! Prices are reasonable even if this place wasn't kosher and service is good from most employees. They've all been super sweet and accommodating every time, but again, the owner is awful. They give you a number to put on your table so the servers can bring you your food, so idk why he feels the need to YELL everyone's number out so loud. It's disruptive, rude, unprofessional and annoying! I dread him being there every time..smh read more

Do not recommend at all. I went here recently because I was excited to have a new local place that I can frequent often to drink coffee and eat while I do some work each day. But this place does not encourage people to stay long. It's brutally hot inside here all the time. And I don't mean that it's just a little warm. I'm saying it's like sauna level hot in here. I even asked if they could turn the heat down a little because it wa suffocating and you could tell others were uncomfortable too. But they didn't do anything about it. There's other options in the area so I'd recommend going to those places instead of here. read more

Most unfriendly staff i've ever seen. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by tables filled with dirty cups and plates. The tables were sticky and wet. When I walked up to the register the seemingly owner was the one to take my order. I ordered an iced latte.. $5.70. Crazy price but maybe it's good quality. The board clearly said 4.25 so I asked and he answered with a simple "tax." The coffee was ready relatively quickly..that was the only positive experience. The owner had a rude attitude and overall snarky response. The owner also asked my friend if she was from China, I don't know how that is relevant to ordering a drink. The coffee was mediocre, incredibly watered down and DEFINITELY not worth $5.70. A few friends and I had some work to get done, we ordered drinks and sat down for about an hour until my friend ordered a thin and very disappointing "pizza" which cost over 6 dollars. While we were eating and drinking one of the workers told my friend she had 30 mins left..WHO DOES THAT? I understand if the cafe was busy and they needed seats, but there was only 1-2 other tables there and there were PLENTY of empty seats there. I will never go back there again and don't recommend anyone going unless you want to have a bad time. read more

Nice place near the station. However, quite expensive with subpar service. Coffee/cappuccino are served in paper cups (mugs are available only for medium size????). I would rate no stars if I could. This is the second time I visit this cafe. I decided to give them a second chance since they are so close to home. However, I won't be returning! Both times I ordered an açaí bowl. First time I was hardly given fruit toppings and the man (owner) kept trying to push me to add peanut butter and Nutella. Then he questioned why I wanted it made with juice. If I'm paying $12 for an overpriced smoothie bowl, I think I should get what I want! Even after I said no he still pushed another 3 times. I ordered again today and I was given a bowl with inedible black corroded banana. Bowl was missing blueberries, as well. Of course since the coconut and granola was stuck to the banana I had to throw half of the bowl away! I call to complain and all I get is "oh I apologize" and he then remained quiet. How do you think it's okay to serve someone this and just comment 3 words!?! Obviously they don't care about building up their customers. I will take my business around the corner to Avocadoh where I get a large bowl loaded with a variety of fruits, coconut and chia seeds for $16! I suggest other customers do the same. read more
