I am Vietnamese growing up eating from the aunties cooking the most amazing Vietnamese food. So I know good Vietnamese food when I see it. This place is excellent! The bun Bo hue broth was very flavor with multiple layers from the lemongrass to the chili oil. The it had most of the right meat in it except I didn't like they chose thick sliced hams. I won't ding them for that but blood clot would've been better! It was a cold windy day and this was an excellent meal to warm up on! My kid had the pho combo and he said it was excellent. The Bo luc lac had a nice coconut flavor to it with a solid lemongrass flavor also. It was a nice dish. The vermicelli looked delicious also getting a 5 star from my other kid. Service was fast. My partner and I were craving Vietnamese food, so we stumbled upon Pho Top, one of the pho spots that weren't closed on Mondays. The restaurant was empty at around 6:30PM. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was lovely, but that was about it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls, Beef Cube / Beef Flank With Lemongrass Over Rice, and a Bun Bo Hue. The spring rolls came out first, but it was lacking in flavor. As mentioned in other reviews, the wraps are more like egg roll wrappers, but the taste was overall bland. The beef cube came out next. It was fairly small in comparison to other Vietnamese restaurants we've been to. The beef also tasted like really poor quality beef. The texture was a bit off, but the flavor was okay. Now for my Bun Bo Hue, I recommend anyone that's had this dish, to literally never get it from this place. The broth is so watered down and tasteless. While I was expecting to be hit with spicy, salty, and savory flavors, I was hit with a bland broth. There was no spice to it whatsoever, just a red color, so maybe it was red chili oil? I was so disappointed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To add to my disappointment, their music taste consisted of jazz-like covers of popular songs. By far the worst pho spot I've been to. This should be called Pho Bottom instead. The pho broth was extremely watered down with absolutely no beef bone flavor whatsoever. Biggest disappointment for me was the menu had pictures of rice paper Vietnamese spring rolls which are known to be crispy and chewy at the same time. These were not those but rather the cheaper variant. Felt bait and switched. While some places will give you only lean beef or tiny portions this place gives you all the meats in huge portions. Their special pho had all the beef cuts including tripe and tendons. I ordered the Combination Bowl, with brisket, tendon, tripe, and beef ball. The amount of tripe out weighed all the other meats, but other than the offset proportions, I also found the broth to be a bit watery. I think you can't order Vermicelli with Shredded Pork. Their pork like ground pork. You can't really eat pork like other Pho.

Service was quick and helpful. Our waitress answered all of our questions about the menu and made ordering easy. We chose the summer rolls, a noodle soup with grilled pork chop, and the seafood noodle soup (just shrimp). The summer rolls were standard but had a slight vinegar flavor (possibly picked radish/carrot) which we enjoyed. The peanut dipping sauce was too sweet for our taste so we mixed in sriracha and hoisin which helped to balance it. I'd get these again. Both soups arrived nice and hot with my pork on the side - the usual side of lime, bean sprouts, jalapeño, and Thai basil too. The broths were on the saltier end with notes of clove and anise although I wish there was more complexity in flavor. The shrimp were tender and the grilled pork quite flavorful (came with a mild, sweet fish sauce based dipping sauce). I appreciated the soups not having excessive raw onion that other places typically add - this had just enough. Our total before tip was $40 which included a 10% discount they advertise on the front door. I assume this is in response to other reviews and feedback. I think this adjusted cost is more in line with the quality and experience here. We'll certainly be back to try more dishes. Excited to have pho in GN. read more
