This bagel shop is a pretty good place to grab a fast breakfast. Lots of breakfast choices and…read morebagels to choose from. Service was ok when I went on Sat am. Not too busy and did wait a little. But it's ok as I was able to grab some coffee on their self serve station. The omelette I got was ok, a bit oily, and hash brown could be crispier. However, my buttered bagel came out just fine!

Driving to an appointment I had a craving for a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich , so I went to…read moreBoomerang Bagels. I had been there before and loved their bagels. As I browsed the menu board I decided that the sandwich was a bit pricey so I opted for a buttered bagel, which was shown on the board as bagel $1.35, with butter $4.50. Seemed pricey but I got it. As I sat outside the store I eating my bagel I was pondering their prices. I went back in and took a printed menu. A very strange pricing policy indeed. The owner can charge whatever he likes and it is my choice to buy or not. There seemed to be no logic to their pricing. An egg sandwich was $3.00, and with cheese $4.75, so $1.75 for the cheese. A meat and egg sandwich was $5.49 and $$6.99 with cheese, so $1.50 for the cheese. Egg white sandwich was $4.49 and with cheese $5.25, so the cheese was $0.76. When is a slice of cheese worth $1.75 extra? A meat, egg and cheese sandwich was $6.99, a meat and cheese sandwich was $6.99, so no charge for the egg, great deal. The printed menu lists a bagel at $1.39, and to add butter an extra $2.99, seriously, butter is more than twice the cost of the bagel? $2.99 to add jelly to a bagel. Wow! $3.75 for cream cheese, 2 1/2 times the cost of the bagel. You better be loving that cream cheese. Other spread prices go up from there. These expensive and crazy prices leave a bad taste in my mouth, at least it was a buttery taste. I sort of think the place was under new ownership since the last time I was there. I won't be going back.

It is your stereotypical bagel shop with the old fashioned signs and the baskets of bagels among the sandwiches named after celebrities. I recommend and will come back for another breakfast.

We stopped here to get a bagel sandwich and a couple bagels with cream cheese. The last time we…read morewere here we were pleased with the quality and service (We visit once per year with family in the area). Unfortunately this visit we had a couple of issues. First was in payment. They charged us $19.48 if we paid cash. I gave the cashier $20.50. This means we should have received $1.02 back. Instead they gave us only $1. I was very confused. The cashier told me they are no longer giving away pennies, yet there is no sign saying this. Coming from North Carolina.... this type of thing would have a sign at the cash register. I could have given exact change if I knew they were going to short me 2 cents. It's not the amount, it's the fact there is no notification. The cashier did eventually return the 2 cents owed. Another issue with the payment is we were charged $1 additional for a jalapeno cheddar bagel. The charge was listed as "custom" on the bill. I asked what this additional charge was for. The cashier stated it was for the jalapeno bagel. I asked her if she could show me how I would know I was going to have an an additional charge for this bagel ? She pointed to fine print on their menu board that said *prices are subject to change. So is she saying we cannot trust the prices that we see on the menu board ? What I assume to be the owner stepped in and said they have been here 25 years and "everybody knows". Well, we are from out of State and do not "know". We especially don't know why a business would not simply avoid confusion by posting a sign in front of the "custom" bagel notifying that it will be priced differently than any other bagel they sell ... which says $1.50 each on the sign directly above the bagel bins. There were several different flavors, so how are we to know there are different prices if the sign above says $1.50 each ??? Instead of simply saying "Oh yes, we should probably put a sign there to avoid confusion." when I made this suggestion to add a sign to notify of the difference in price, the owner Instead got very upset and started complaining about the prices of everything going up. I told him I understand that it is very difficult; but all he needs is a sign so there are no surprises for the customer at the cash register. The owner remained upset and offered to take the bagel back instead of simply saying "that's a good idea" to help their customers avoid surprises such as this. Perhaps upon reflection the owner will see the benefit of clearly stating prices. However, his reaction is the reason that many folks avoid bringing up issues to management.
