Fried catfish with lemon pepper is my go-to, so I've tried a lot of places. First off, I'm not going to judge the look of the place -- most fried fish spots aren't exactly known for their interior design, and that's not really why you're there anyway. What matters is the food, and the catfish here was phenomenal. The fish was fresh, perfectly fried, and the lemon pepper seasoning was spot-on. I had actually stopped at two other fried fish places the previous two days, and this one was noticeably better. The catfish was packed with flavor and cooked exactly how it should be -- crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The guy running the place was also very nice and professional, which always makes the experience better. If you're looking for solid fried catfish, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Shrimp was small and hard. Fries were ok but not great. The 2 pieces of fish I got were cod. Now mind you I am in a fish market. Everything looked like it came from a frozen food box. The cod was for sure from a box. I called as soon as I got home and it was clear that the kids had told him because there was no argument. He knew it was bad and tells me to come in he will replace it. Fast forward about a week i go in to get it and he is like how many of the shrimp were burnt and and starts treating me like I am trying to scam him instead of HIS store ruining the main portion of the meal and everything else being barely edible. I sure hope the manager working tonight wasn't Pudge because he was awesome. You just lost us as customers. And we were coming in 1-2 times a week before my sister died. Good luck. I recommend the chicken sandwich with fries meal - both items were crispy and delicious. However, my meal only came with lettuce. Not a big deal since I'm not a fan of tomato, but if you want more on your sandwich, make sure you say that when ordering. I'm not a fan of the fried chicken, but it is just a matter of preference. I like bone-in fried chicken, and the chicken served here is similar to the Taiwanese fried chicken cutlet - a large boneless fried chicken with dark meat. 98k is definitely worth dining at and is better than the average fried food restaurant. We did run into a small issue at checkout--the total was miscalculated and came out about $12 higher than it should have been. Thankfully, we caught it, and the staff promptly corrected the mistake and refunded the difference back to our card, which we appreciated. For food, my husband ordered the chicken siciliano with a baby Greek salad and lemon rice soup, and I went with a BLT. Everything was delicious, just like we've come to expect from Athenian. Despite the minor hiccup at the register, the quality of the food and the friendly service keep us coming back. We'll definitely continue to enjoy Athenian Shish Kabob and its old school diner feel.
