Our three dishes were all bland. Description on menu said "lots" of vegetables but there were very very few vegetables and lots and lots of noodles. One of us had ordered Pad Tai w shrimp which had very few shrimp and indiscernible peanuts. Had even ordered extra broccoli and spinach but could hardly find either. We've had their curry, pad thai, chicken alfredo, spring rolls, and a few other items that I am blanking on right now. All have been great. The portions are huge and delicious. I noticed some people don't like the informal setting because you have to pick up your own silverware, but honestly, I prefer this! It's not a fine-dining restaurant (which is a good thing IMO) You pay for your food ahead of time, and then you can just leave when you are done! No waiting for a check or getting disappointed with poor service. It's a great simple set up, and the food is yummy! We get crazy noodle cravings about twice a month and have to go out of our way to go here! :) Oh, and their noodle bowls are HUGE. Awesome! read more

BUT I just saw a trailer for some documentary about how yelp tries to bully smaller restaurants and if they don't buy their "marketing plan", their good reviews start going away! I will never eat at this restaurant again. I am lactose intolerant and I ordered a meal that does not typically contain cheese because the description of the meal on the menu AND the picture on the menu did not have cheese. However, my order came covered in/cooked with cheese so obviously, I couldn't eat it for medical reasons. This has happened before at other restaurants and my servers have always apologized for the confusion and replaced my meal with no issues. When I explained the situation to our server at Crazy Noodles, they were incredibly rude and told me I should have told them about my dietary restrictions beforehand (which makes no sense because in my time being a normal human being who goes to restaurants and having worked in the restaurant business before, I know that this meal never typically comes with cheese) They charged me full price for a meal that I could not eat and would not even replace my meal without me paying more. I have never been treated this disrespectfully in a restaurant before and I would not recommend eating there to anyone. read more

One thing I miss about living in Amherst is Crazy Noodle. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and delicious! My only criticism (and it's a big one) is that when I was back in town, I stopped in during lunch time on a Thursday. There were 6 people there including myself, and I assumed we'd order and be in and out in about 30-45min tops. Instead we sat and waited for our spring roll appetizer for about 45min, and then with no sign of our actual food coming (which was just soup), I went and asked for our lunch to go. I was told they were just about ready and would be out shortly....we're now talking 50min...at 1hr on the dot, I got our two soups packed up to go. So I guess overall I'd say the food is great, the service however....not so much. Who makes you wait a solid hour for fried spring rolls and soup??? On lunch!?! If you have all day, hit up Crazy Noodle, however, if you're looking for a quick tasty bite to eat, go elsewhere. read more

This place, in contrast to its name, does not serve interesting or "crazy" noodles. The service was horrible and my meal was not good. I ordered the spicy Thai soup based noodles and the base was basically tomato sauce with chili powder to make it spicy. It was not good. I was extremely disappointed with this meal. Don't compare it to Thai restaurants in Boston, because this is Thai fusion, and because in Amherst the good restaurants like CN have to compete with the bad ones. (Once Amherst decides it likes you, you can do no wrong). But CN is always good. Things like Island Oasis are consistently good, and the price is right. Tasty meals at reasonable prices. My son and enjoyed the crispy pork wontons appetizer. The wontons were flavorful and crisp and the sauce was tangy. I had the Island Oasis green curry, which was nicely spiced and flavored with cilantro. I didn't try my son's pork fried rice, but he was quite happy with it and with his Thai Iced Tea. As far as I'm concerned, Crazy Noodle is the best restaurant in Amherst. My favorite dish is a spicy coconut curry served over hot noodles with vegetables and shrimp called Red Devil. Great place for lunch (excellent lunch specials pricing) or dinner. You can order a beer and chill in their relaxed dining room or take food to go. I always take my parents here when they come out to visit! :D read more

First time visitor today. Three of us got selections from their lunch menu. Total for us, after food plus drinks plus tip (which was good-sized because it was well deserved) was $38. I had the Sunshine Noodles dish. Another had the Pad See-Ew. Both here impressive! Good, fresh ingredients, nice presentation and really hit the spot after having spent several hours touring the campus of nearby Amherst College. We're fans! Heading back here next time we're in town. 'Crazy Noodles' is right on the edge of the town commons. Lots of parking throughout area - metered and free. read more

Crazy Noodles is absolutely my favorite restaurant in the world! I live nearby and eat there at least once a month. The food is great and the prices are great. I'm not a naïve restaurant patron, having eaten in plenty of restaurants in NYC, Boston, and even Paris. But I just love the food at Crazy Noodles. It's Thai influenced but lighter. Many many different noodle and rice options on the menu (although I've never gotten a rice dish). Some of my friends criticize the décor/atmosphere but I like it fine. read more

Crazy noodles is a great spot to grab a causal lunch between classes, but I suspect the key to this place is knowing what to order. Golden noodle soup is tasty but they give you the largest bowl I've ever seen! If you're hoping for leftovers you will not be disappointed, but those expecting portion control will be off-put. I love the lunch specials, because for under 7$ you can get a big bowl of noodles and veggies which can be pretty easily customized. I recommend island oasis noodles, which features a green curry sauce and plenty of peppers and hearts of palm. I wish this place would focus more on getting one regional cuisine perfect, but I do hear the italian themed noodle dishes are decent as well. Crazy Noodles is my all-time favorite restaurant in Amherst. Over the course of my college career I've sampled nearly all that Amherst has to offer, yet I always find myself coming back to Crazy Noodles. Been to this place on a visit to Umass .. Nice little place with very good food. Tried basil fried rice, pad Thai and curry... Very well done with OK service. To top it off this place has frequent visitor program to encourage repeat visits. All in all excellent place to frequent for veggie lovers in town. read more

They have two females that work the counter and neither have an ounce of customer service skills. the smaller skinnier one can be nice once in a while but the heavier woman is always in a bad mood and has no business being the front person to the public. Crazy Noodles has become my go-to restaurant in Amherst. The staff are very polite and helpful, I haven't found a dish on the menu yet that I don't like, and it doesn't break the bank. There are plenty of vegetarian-friendly options and a good mix of spicy and mild dishes. Be prepared to take home leftovers, as the portion sizes are quite large. The atmosphere is also familiar and inviting, from the comfy bench seating with throw pillows to the wall of posters advertising local events. I've traveled the world and I definitely know what I'm talking about.I also lived in Thailand. The food is fab. You get what you pay for. You have to order and then sit down, no big deal. If someone came to your table and waited on you it would cost more money. Also nice they offer beer and wine.You should order Thai Basil Rice, and then ad several veggies to it.
