Today was my birthday, so my dinner spot of choice meant a return here to experience a meal at the newish Charming Thai Restaurant. And we left a few hours later agreeing that this place is fantastic. Soon after we were seated, we met Jessica, who was our principal server. She was an absolute delight with a fantastic personality. She started off with some complimentary noodles and sweet duck sauce. The menu is extensive, with most of the traditional Thai favorites, so think Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle, Fried Rices, Lo Meins, and Pad See-Ew. Other groupings include Chef Specials, Classic Entrees, Curries, and a full slate of appetizers, salads, soups, Pho, and Ramens. When you go through their menu, the various combinations of entrée and protein choices are in the 200 range. So pretty much anyone can eat their favorite Asian food here. We started off with a cup of Wonton Soup (with 6 big wontons) and a cup of Tom Kha Soup with two big shrimp at $5.99 each. The Tom Kha had a mild coconut taste, but I don't mean that in a negative way. I order this a lot, and some places really load up on the coconut flavor so much that the soup resembles a strong thick ice cream topping. Their soup was thinner than some but had enough flavor that it was fantastic. Oh, and those two plump shrimps in my bowl were perfect. We split an $8 order of six pork pot stickers, and they were cooked beautifully without a hint of grease and stuffed with a nice ground pork filling. For our main meal we split a $15.99 order of Chicken Pad Thai. We ordered it mild, but since I like spice, I asked for some extra zip on the side and Jessica brought out a cute little twin dish of Sriracha sauce and Sichuan pepper powder to ramp up the firepower. We loved the Pad Thai, it had plenty of chicken, the noodles were well cooked, and most of all it was sauced perfectly. Not too dry, not too wet, but just perfect. As we were paying our bill, the fact that it was my birthday came up, and Jessica made us promise not to leave yet because she wanted to give me something. That turned out to be a complimentary dish of sweet coconut rice with sliced mango. The portions were so generous that some of the Tom Kha and Pad Thai are now in our refrigerator for tomorrow. Thank you, Jessica, and JJ who tag-teamed us tonight, and here's a special shout-out to Lucy who made the magic happen in the kitchen. The food, the service, the value, and the atmosphere were all exceptional. Charming Thai is a wonderful addition to the area. The service is always so friendly and quick. If you want to dine inside, it is spacious and comfortable. The owner is so passionate about what he does, and what he creates, and it shows! The food is amazing. If you dine in, make sure you order a special before they sell out! This restaurant is family owned. The servers are friendly and attentive. We come once a month and they always remember that our daughter has a nut allergy and what drink she likes. The food is fresh and delicious. The kitchen can be slow to get food out but it's a small negative compared to the many positives. We highly recommend this place. read more

This restaurant has been open for ~5 months, so it was a good time for a review! This was a Monday evening takeout scenario and I'm happy to report the online ordering process was as smooth as freshly Zamboni'd ice. Getting down to the food: First off, I have loved Thai food for decades, and have been to all the restaurants within a 25-30 miles radius. The previous establishment in this location overcooked their Thai noodle dishes (so I didn't go often). However, Charming Thai nails the noodle dishes, judged by our pad thai and pad kee mao (aka drunken noodles). Portions were decent, but not large, which is a bit concerning with the dishes being $2-3 more per entree as compared to nearby Thai food. I love this place whenever we eat there. The dishes are flavorful and fresh. The staff are welcoming and friendly. I discovered that takeout is another matter. Sure, for just about any restaurant, it's never quite as good as when you're there. The issue, however, was the portion sizes. They seemed to be quite a bit smaller than what's served when you dine in. That's disappointing. It's not as if they cost less and, at least, one should be able to count on the same overall quantity. Three of our takeout meals seemed essentially lunch sized. I hope this changes so that I can continue ordering takeout. Otherwise, it'll be dine-in only for me and that means I won't have it as often. read more

Daughter and I had a Saturday lunch and we were sooo satisfied with the quality of the food. We were given free samples of a new shrimp wonton: delicious! We had Thai dumplings: recommend! I had crispy pad Thai with shrimp: delicious with nice size shrimp. They prepare to your liking of spicy, scale of 1-5. Daughter's beef pho was very tasty. Thai ice tea: mmmm! Recently driving by the last couple weeks I noticed a brand new sign by the street indicating a new restaurant was in town. So my wife and I decided to give it a try Saturday night. The place was empty except for one other couple inside on a Saturday at 6:00pm. I will though acknowledge that the amount of people coming to pick up take out was constant and busy. Interior was inviting but similar to the previous restaurant at this location. We were greeted by a young waitress who was friendly and personable. There's plenty of items to select from the menu. It's not only Thai food but additional Asian cuisine. We chose some shrimp wrapped in a crispy dough similar to those common mini Thai crispy rolls. It came with a sweet & spicy dipping sauce. Pretty basic. My wife ordered the Massaman (spelling) curry which she ordered mild. She enjoyed it. I ordered the Pad See Ew. Not every Thai restaurant offers this dish on their menu and it's one of my favorites. Ironically, this was the first time I was ever asked my spice level. Typically it's one of those dishes that isn't served as a spicy dish. So I ordered medium due to it was our first time here and wasn't familiar with their spice levels. It was perfect. I also chose pork belly as protein which was also a first for me. I realize that cultures have numerous versions of foods but but this dish had a ton of sliced carrots which I've never experienced in many Thai restaurants I've visited in NYC, and I was also surprised with the baby corn in my dish, also a little unorthodox again, only based on the restaurants I've gone to in NYC. I'm not complaining but just remarking. When my meal arrived I did ask the waitress for a little fish sauce which she said she would find out if they have any. She never came back with the fish sauce or the answer, but I finished my dish and enjoyed even without the fish sauce. We try to support our local restaurants and you should too. Charming Thai may be a little new to the neighborhood but I see no reason that the word of mouth will spread quickly. read more

After a day of babysitting and far too tired to cook, we stopped at this lovely place next door to the garden center. I found the atmosphere clean and pleasant. The service was fast and efficient and it was pleasant to be waited on after our busy day. The menu has all the usual Thai dishes that we've come to expect, along with some new options. I tried the Fresh Ginger Entree which came loaded with vegetables along with the tofu and brown rice I had requested. My husband had the fried rice with beef; even the next day the dish was tasty and the beef tender. Protein options include chicken, tofu, and beef, as well as pork belly, shrimp, salmon, and duck. Rice options include jasmine rice and brown rice. The presentation of the plates was detailed with an artistic and edible flair. That attention to detail is a sign of an attentive chef. A short while later, the owner, Mickey, came to our table and thanked us for coming. In these small towns of Litchfield County, it's a pleasant surprise to find such a great restaurant. read more

We stopped in one day for an early dinner. The staff was invaluable in deciding what to order. I described the aspects of Thai food that I enjoy. The owner zeroed in on a chicken dish with peanut sauce which was delicious. My husband ordered a shrimp dish that included large shrimp, and plenty of veggies cooked in a light-tasting brown sauce. We were 6 for dinner midweek. The staff was warm and helpful. Everyone enjoyed their meals which included a couple of bento box type house specials, an orange chicken dish, teriyaki chicken with vegetables and drunken noodles with pork belly. Food was hot, fresh, and well portioned. My drunken noodles meal was medium spicy as requested when asked. The vegetables were crisp tender, and the pork belly was a delicious mix of richness and crunch. At the meal's end, the chef came out to thank diners. It was a lovely touch to a night out in a comfortably causal restaurant and it's BYOB which is economical. A variety of bubble teas are also available. We had take out. The general tso chicken was OK. Very little vegs except a few carrots and onions - not a lot of flavor. My husband got ginger chicken. But again, very few vegetables. He asked for spicey and didn't get it. We asked for hot mustard or chili paste - maybe they don't have it like the previous resistant who occupied this space. We will try one more time. read more

The BESTT ramen and thai food that I have tried and in the area. Absolutely great food. Great prices. They have lunch specials every day for 15$ with a drink, soup, egg roll, and rangoon...CRAZY. The workers were soo nice. The owner Nicky walked around and spoke to us and even asked our names. He seems amazing. The place has alot of room and is decorated nicely. Stopped in a couple of weeks ago, the food was fabulous. The people were super friendly. The waitress and servers were super polite, helpful, attentive. The inside of the restaurant was very nice, it was relatively quiet, there were a couple of other tables of people there, and the decor was nice and casual. The Pho was excellent.
