Amazing service. Love the sushi options. Everything tasted fresh. Nice little hole in the wall. Will come back again.

Exquisite Japanese dining experience! The food was amazingly fresh and delicious, but what truly stood out was Ara's exceptional hospitality. She was so attentive, polite, and friendly throughout our meal. Highly recommended!

    I ate everything

I love this place. It taste so good and they gave me free ice cream. Strongly recommend the service is amazing. Food came out really well. Great music very fast lovely servers.

    VOLCANO ROLL

This was probably my most disappointing sushi experience ever, and yes, it was takeout. I ordered two rolls and a piece of sushi. I will admit, I had high expectations because of the reviews. Living in LA, I am learning the hard way that reviews are not always the move. I eat a lot of sushi, from cheap spots to high-end places, so I know what I am talking about. One roll I always order no matter what is the volcano roll. If it is on the menu, I am getting it. Unfortunately, this was the worst volcano roll I have ever had. The portion was basically a four-piece cut in half and it was almost twenty dollars. The inside tasted extremely fishy and just cheap overall. Maybe it was an off day, but it was not good. I also ordered salmon belly sushi, and this is where the quality really showed. It had a bad aftertaste I have only experienced at very low-end sushi spots. That was a big red flag for me. The Blossom roll was fine. Not terrible, not great. It just made me regret spending the money when I could have gone somewhere else. Since this was takeout, I cannot speak on the dine-in experience, but based on the food alone, I would not come back.

Crazy rock n sushi doesn't let you down! Food is great quality and the atmosphere is nice. They served us our rolls almost immediately! The rolls came out faster than appetizers but there was no complaints with it. Jay was very helpful and attentive. Great sushi spot better than others in the area

This is one of my OG sushi spots from when I first moved to Hollywood years ago. Their menu has evolved overtime, and I hadn't been by in a while so it was WAAAYYY overdue. FOOD I ordered the Captain America which has some of my favorites in it sushiwise including crawfish and eel. My server did give me a heads up there was spicy tuna inside which turned out to be fairly mild. I loved the portion size, it was worth the price point for the meal. I'd definitely do it again SERVICE 5/5 Ara was very helpful and greeted me as soon as I came in. Even though I was ordering to go, she offered for me to sit at a table as if I was dining in, which was nice so I could comfortably check out the menu and get a similar experience to dining in. AMBIANCE I hadn't been here in so long I got to checkout their new menu, and the decor was very cute and festive for the holidays. The staff were attentive and happy to help. There was moody lighting and chill music playing. It's a comfortable environment. I'd be happy coming here to meet up with friends or even for a solo date. HONORABLE MENTION There is seating at the sushi bar where you can watch them make the sushi up close. I'll definitely be coming back to try some more great food, and even check out some of their deals!

Sushi was amazing the rolls were big i usually need two rolls to feel full but one was enough and i loved the environment not too much light and mot too dim just enough to have a nice vibe for dinner and sharon was the best so sweet i cant wait to recommend this and bring my friends

We came here on a whim since there was a pop near by! Luckily it wasn't crowded at all and you didn't need a reservation at the time. It's a cute small sushi place with authentic look to it! Amber lighting: my favorite ! They give you complimentary nuts and they do ask if you have any allergies, which I thought was cool. We started off with soju cocktails. I got strawberry and my friend got the berries. It was good. Not too strong $9 I opted for the Fatty toro and Uni don bowl. It was a feast! It came with pickled asparagus onions, nori to use as a dipping thing and a fruit cup! $28 (I think) Oh and of course I got an oyster shot. Our waitress was friendly and bubbly. She helped us with our many questions

    Chicken Teriyaki

Can for a birthday lunch and was very impressed with the place! Incredibly attentive servers with a large menu and equally big portion sizes! Everything was made super fresh, and I was incredibly impressed by how thick they sliced the sashimi. The chicken teriyaki was also much higher quality than most places, coming with this beautiful presentation. The waitress was careful to make sure that I liked everything that was included in each dish, which was a nice touch.

The food at this restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the servers were so friendly. Next time, I'd love to try the dishes I didn't get to have today. Luis and Ara were truly the best servers -- hope to see you again!

Wanted to give a quick update about this restaurant. It has been a favorite go-to as the quality of fish is excellent and the selection or rolls and sashimi seems unlimited. We usually don't have to wait very long to be seated, granted it's just for 2 ppl on a weekday, the weekend is probably busier. The service has been consistently wonderful and we always look forward to our next visit.

Fried oreos with ice cream! Best dessert and best sushi and best customer service!!!!

I really appreciated that he didn't just recommend the most expensive items--he actually suggested some of the popular dishes that people usually order. The tiramisu was excellent. It tasted homemade and fresh, not like something store-bought. The carbonara pizza was also really good--light but still filling. I'd recommend sharing it because, at least for me, the portion was pretty big. I went here on a double date and would definitely most definitely recommend it to you guy who looking for Itilian restaurants to go to it warm and cozy and very welcoming.. We arrived a little early for our reservation, and even though they were busy, they seated us right away outside. Our table was along the walkway, which wouldn't necessarily be my first choice next time, but I appreciated that they got us settled without making us wait around. The outdoor area had a relaxed neighborhood feel, and it was nice being outside while the evening was warm. We started with the Fiori di Zucca. The squash blossoms were stuffed with ricotta and Parmigiano, lightly fried, and served with marinara. They were good, although they weren't the dish I found myself thinking about afterward. That honor goes to the mussels. I wasn't expecting them to be my favorite thing we ordered, but they absolutely were. The broth was flavorful enough that I kept going back to it after the mussels were gone, which is usually my personal test for whether a mussel dish has done its job. We also shared the Pappardelle alla Vaccinara with braised oxtail ragù, Parmigiano, and rosemary oil. The ragù had a deep, meaty flavor, and I liked how the rosemary oil cut through some of the richness. It was a solid pasta, but the mussels still won the night for me. My cocktail was light and refreshing, with cucumber and mint, and worked especially well with dinner outside. Everything we ordered was flavorful, and the meal made for a lovely belated birthday dinner. Parking around this stretch of 3rd can be a little tricky. I ended up finding street parking a few blocks away, but Oste does offer valet, which would have saved me the neighborhood parking hunt. For a first visit, I'm glad I finally got to try Oste. It was a relaxed, flavorful dinner and a really nice way to celebrate a belated birthday.

It was a retro style building that was a lot bigger than I expected inside. I came at 4:30pm right as they were opening and it filled up quickly. ========= THE FOOD ========= ~ 1/2 LOBSTER ROLL (hot) -- They have a chilled lobster roll but when I asked the bartender her preference she said the hot is better. Small but packed with plump succulent lobster. Butter-basked the texture is sooo good. 4 solid bites of heaven. Bun is a little cracker-like in terms of bread (10/10) ~ HOOK SLIDER (burger) -- The smaller version of their $25 Hook Burger... the gigantic slider (bigger than a cheeseburger at most places) was heavenly. One of the best burgers I've ever had. A+ It was topped with a 4yr old aged white cheddar, pickles, caramelized onions, lettuce and Thousand Island. (10/10) ~ MUSSELS -- Soft texture, full of flavor. Slight bitter mussel taste. Good but prob wouldn't get again. (4/5) ~ CALAMARI -- Small, crispy... juicy on the inside but the breading lacks flavor and seasoning. The cocktail sauce and aioli helps but doesn't save it. Wouldn't order again. (3/5) ======= SAUCEY ======= ~ SAFFRON AOILI -- Looks lemony, was a garlic aioli w/Saffron, great for seafood, full of flavor. (5/5) ~ COCKTAIL SAUCE -- lil bit ketchup, a lil bit spicy. (4/5) ~ ORANGE SAUCE -- "Figueroa Sauce" I thought it was a spicy mayo or chipotle mayo. Was a bit tangy, not bad. (3/5) ============ NEEDED 2 TRY =============== Too late now but... ~ LOBSTER MAYO -- House-made, contains Katsuoboshi - Bonito Flakes, does not contain Lobster. $1 ~ FIGARO SAUCE -- House-made sauce blend of Hollandaise & Marinara. $1 ~ CLAM CHOWDER TRIO ========== IN CLOSING ========== I'd been wanting to come for nearly a decade and finally did it. It lived up to the hype of all my friends over the years that raved about it especially Alexis P. It's a shame the owners were ready to retire and robbed us of this gem but I'm happy they get to sit back and enjoy post retirement life as they well deserve after treating Angelenos to this delicacy the past 15+ years. Cheers to Connie and Ted.

My husband has type 1 diabetes so we very rarely eat at Italian ristorantes. Chef Tara has helped us rediscover a new world of flavor without negative impacts on my husband's blood sugar and cholesterol. (Thanks for the variety of non-dairy cheeses!!) Tip for first-timers: go when you can have the brunch or the lunch menu. Then you'll have so many options that you'll have to return! Round 1 Polpettine (meatballs) are made from lentils and texture similar to the real ones; lovely marinara sauce and ground macadamia nut instead of parmesan. Complement this with the citrus notes that highlight the sauteed swiss chard with earthy Italian butter / gigante beans. Round 2 The same beans are in the Greek goddess salad: rich with tomatoes, kalamata olives, and fresh red onions. This was a visually stunning and paired well with the Sicilian almond 'tuna' melt. The tuna is by far the most imaginative. Again, Chef Tara and the back of the house nailed the texture and I loved the hints of crunchy celery. The capers injected tiny bursts of salt and tartness. The only moderation I'd consider is slightly crisping / toasting the sandwich bread -- but the tuna melt sando is great as it is. Pura Vida is a diamond in the rough especially because the storefront is pretty discreet. I sure wish that we lived closer. We'll be back for special occasions in our life!
