Mary and I stopped in for lunch today; our first visit. This building has been here for a long time and the outside looks it; the inside has been updated to a modern open look and feel. There are three businesses side by side inside. We ordered tasty beverages that came right out; delicious. Mary had the soup of the day, delicious. I had a toasted three cheese sandwich with fries; the bread was thick sliced and lightly toasted, the cheese blend was perfect; delicious. Zero stars. Had the Crazy Train Burger. It was aweful. Seriously aweful. Over cooked. Dry, They didn't even toast the bun and this was a 24 dollar burger. Stay away. I think, to compensate for their crappy burger they gave me at least a pound of french fries which weren't too bad but I came there to get a burger. read more

I've been seeing a few posts about this place in Hillyard Locos and their smoked brisket sandwich, so I decided to give it a shot Orders Smoked Brisket Sammy, with a side of cowboy beans. Smoked chicken wings - which came with a dilly ranch sauce and addicting pickles. The crispy wings had a crunchy texture and were very addictive. "Chip skin wings" omg, so freaking good. Chips and Salsa Smoked chips are a first for me, and what a good idea they were pretty good They have an open-concept space that they share with a brewery and a coffee bar. (I'm a coffee lover, and I was thrilled to find out they have a coffee bar) I got a satisfying cup of chai there. I must come back to try a pulled pork sandwich or smoked chicken. ( and, of course, my favorite crispy chicken wings) I just wanted to let you know that although it's not on the menu, the restaurant offers vegan options like Impossible Burger and tofu. This is a unique small business. I enjoyed the beef, Kale and Potato soup with a cheese panini. The service was fantastic. When I was there it was a one man operation- he was very pleasant- but he was cashier, cook, waiter and dish man. He did it all with a smile. Nice atmosphere. Kind service. They altered my order the way I wanted it. My only complaint would be that the hamburger patty was undercooked. The flavor on my salad was excellent. Fresh ingredients. My husband ordered the breaded chicken sandwich and he said it was way too salty. So he took the breading off and the chicken was also very salty. The French fries were excellent. For 19 to 20 dollar meals for lunch, the quality could have been better. We would come back though and try it again and order different items. read more

Went in on a Friday night just prior to closing and the owner welcomed us warmly and personally prepared a fantastic, ethically and regionally sourced meal for my family of 5. My wife enjoyed a wine pour from Bellwether, who shares this space, and I complemented my meal with a draft IPA that Crazy Train had on tap. No complaints. It seems like there are two places sharing a space: Locos and another that just serves beer. So, lots of beer choices. We got there unlisted happy hour special: full rack of ribs for $25. Full of flavor. Not so tender. But, $25 for a rack of ribs seems like a steal. Scurried on up to Hillyard in search of Locos after reading a review in the paper. The restaurant is pleasant and well lighted with a variety of seating. The open concept room shares space with a brewery and a coffee shop. Order at the counter and the food arrives later. There are different order counters for the coffee shop and brewery. We ordered the half-rack of ribs and the house special meatloaf. The ribs were smoked perfectly, sauce was on the side but it was not needed. It was served with slaw which was delicious. The meat loaf was smoked too and came with mashed potatoes flavored with dill and some lovely greens (not greasy). Dessert was a cool and sweet peach pudding with fresh blueberries. The portions were generous and the service quite pleasant. Both the owner and chef visited our table to inquire about our satisfaction. Came expecting barbecue, but that apparently doesn't exist anymore. What replaced it is $15-17 sandwiches and burgers. Sandwich was pretty good, lots of bread involved. There was one person taking orders and making food. That probably works great, unless it's around like a meal time, such as ...lunch, and there are more than say 4-5 people to serve. The beer and coffee are a separate business, so don't go in and sit at the bar and expect someone to take your food order and pour you a beer like we've been doing for the past thousand years or so. The Bellwether beer was bad. The belgian beer they made recently for some competition was bitter and you could taste the alcohol. The IPA was all bittering hops, very little hop flavor, and grain bill I really don't even know how you would make a beer taste like that but whoever did it needs to stop. 2-row and less than 10% crystal 20. Start your hop additions at 30 minutes with most of them at 5min or later. No simcoe or euro hops. Maybe the coffee is good? read more

Was a little hard to find, there is a tiny sticker on the door to the United building and the space is shared with other food establishments. However, the food is excellent and so is the service. I had the kalua pork sando, my wife had the torta, and my daughter ended up with a special made burger. Such good food and service is a rare find. We will be back. We're sampling Spokane's Hamburger restaurants and this was one of the top recommended on someone else's list. Pros - this was one of the best burgers so far. Loved my Hillyard burger, fries and coleslaw. There's a beer place inside the same space if you like that as well. I had ribs for lunch a few Saturdays ago and they were delicious, but I had to come back last Friday for the special - Dino Rib! It did not disappoint! It was tender and delicious. Not only is the food fantastic, but there is something special about dining in an old building that has been wonderfully restored. To top it all off, the people here make you feel genuinely appreciated, like you are their favorite neighbor. It is definitely worth a visit, then a return visit! read more

This is a fairly new boutique restaurant having opened in July 2023. The atmosphere is a little hipster, sharing space with a brewery and coffee shop. Orders are taken at the counter but there is table service after your order is placed. The staff are very friendly. We mentioned we were killing time while waiting on our dog's grooming appointment. The staff provided a little packet of smoked turkey for our dog when they served our food, which was such a thoughtful personal touch. Turkey BLT - thick slices of smoked turkey, tomato, and bacon served on an artisan bun. It was a good sandwich. Very filling and they were liberal with the turkey, bacon, tomato and lettuce. The turkey had a really nice flavor. I would have liked more of the herb mayo. Potato salad I chose as my side was amazing and creative. Not sure what was in it, but I would definitely order it again. The pickles were really good as well. They had just the right amount of sweetness to them and could taste a little dill in them as well. Dang Burger - The pimento cheese and fry sauce added a unique flavor to the juicy beef patty. The fry sauce was also a creative blend that made it special and delicious. They could bottle it and sell it! The fries were seasoned well. For starters, the ambiance and vibe of this shared space is very inviting. I love that there is a coffee bar and brewery right next to Locos! In terms of the food, the smoked salsa and the bacon in the BLT were the stars of the show. We took the family to the United Building today to check out the shops for the first time. We had lunch at Locos & were happy with everything we got! We ordered the Hillyard burger, the pulled pork sandwich, a side of their beans & one of coleslaw, two kids chicken strip meals, & a kids cheeseburger meal. They don't have a kids menu but make kid friendly meals on demand. The portion sizes were generous, everything tasted good, & the guy who took our order & served us brought out lots of sauce options for us to try, from a yummy dill-heavy ranch to a spicy house version of red hot sauce. The vibe at Locos & with all the other proprietors at the various shops was chill but authentically friendly. We ordered coffee at Derailer & did a quick visit upstairs to Pigasus to find a few vintage toy & baby clothing treasures. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant & overall we had a great experience. We don't live close so we can't visit frequently, but I wish we had a great community spot like this in our neighborhood. When I walked into the restaurant, I was cheerfully greeted by the staff. The service was excellent. I ordered at the counter and my food was brought to me. I was asked if I liked the the food by my server and another staff member. Covered in tangy sweet BBQ sauce and a delightful white sauce, the shrimp in my BBQ shrimp sandwich tasted amazing! Crisp lettuce crunchy bacon and a sweet tomato slice, complimented the perfectly cooked shrimp . A homemade bun rounded out this innovative sandwich. I will definitely order it again. I also highly recommend the coleslaw. Slivers of delicious slaw are shimmering with a light dressing. Mmm so good. My only complaint about this restaurant is that it is difficult to find.
