We came across Creamistry which is right across the street. The do the whole liquid nitrogen thing and make your ice cream in front of you- but my oh my. The choices of flavors and toppings were ENDLESS. We ended up going for the s'mores ice cream cup, and Thai Tea ice cream- YES PLEASEEEEE. Ok ok.... the consistency of this ice cream was like no other. Man I took like a million pictures of my ice cream and it was not melting. Ahhh we both loved the texture so much. We talked about wanting to eat it with our hands because we loved the consistency. Taste was AMAZING. S'mores came with chocolate ice cream which honestly is my new favorite in town. Get your ice cream cravings here! Located across the Galleria mall, a good place to grab dessert after dining in the area. It's located in a shopping plaza that does not have the best parking. However, Creamistry wasn't too crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Plenty of options to pick from, cup, cone, endless flavors, and toppings. After grabbing lunch, I opted for a cup of matcha and cheesecake bits. We also got the Thai tea. Both had a solid taste. Flavor was rich and tasted how matcha and Thai tea should taste. Good portion even though I didn't get a big size. The inside had a good selection of tables and seats. The interiors were cute but simple. The staff were friendly and our ice cream was ready in no time at all. I will look forward to come back and try more of their flavors. I was so unimpressed with this place! The concept is cute - but the flavor just wasn't there and the price was insane! We got 10oz ice cream cups that looked ALOT tastier than it really was. The ice cream was frozen so hard you could hardly enjoy it. And when you did finally break through into it with your spoon, it tasted like cream or milk. I can't believe we paid $25 for 2 ice creams. I highly recommend this combo: taro and mochi. If you like taro milk tea, then you will love this combo. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the chaotic menu system. 1. All the menus tend to be all stacked up at the cashier, so if you are waiting in line you won't see the paper menu until it's your turn to order. 2. Then there are some flavors and combos are only shown on the screen -the small screen that's right next to the cashier, not even on the main screen or the paper menu. 3. Then...There are other new flavors are advertised on the flyers, again they are not on the menu or the screen. Similar to my original review, I really like creamistry (esp their dairy free base option, and thai tea with mochi flavored ice cream) but i really hate their prices. I hadn't been in a while, but I decided to go to attempt to use my birthday reward, but it was a couple days expired and they wouldn't honor it (*sad*). Its $6+ for a "regular" which looks like it actually got smaller, and almost $9 for a "large" of one of their creative creations or ~$8.50 for a large of just a flavor, no toppings which I think is absolutely unreasonable. the photo menu is really deceiving because the regular is one scoop and "large" looks like 3 scoops layered but its just two scoops of ice cream. I will likely not be returning because paying $17+ for two ice creams is simply not worth it at all. Come here, if you're willing to break the bank for a gimmick and some good not great ice cream. read more

Very rich caramel flavor with crunchy bits of honeycomb. I enjoyed it, but it became a little too sweet near the end. My friend had the Black Cherry flavor. She loved it. It was not too sweet, had pieces of dried cherry mixed in, and the consistency was perfect. Docking a star because this ice cream is hella expensive. There is plenty of parking so won't be a reason to not come. When I walked in I was great and loved how there a many options available. For those people who are vegan there are milkshakes and ice cream options. I had no clue on what to order but when I looked at the options my first mind took me to Strawberry Blonde. My picture doesn't look as great because when I got it I jumped in and forgot to take the picture. Lol. It was perfect for those people that love strawberry cheesecake, strawberries, whipped cream, and creamy ice cream. It was like having a creamy ice cream mixed with a soft serve and carton ice cream together but better. It's hard to explain the texture but the taste was everything. I ordered a large and wish I would have got the small. Now I'm not gonna lie it is pricey but well worth it. My friend ordered a small Chocolate Combustion. It was so good. My friends love this place! So when I told them I hadn't been right after dinner we came straight here. It is very popular as it's generally packed. The process isn't fast so there a line that forms. You start off by picking your size, then you pick your base. The menu has recommendations, but I say pick the base you want. We opted for 2 flavors that recommended coconut milk as the base. You end up tasting all coconut milk over the actual flavor. I tried my friend's signature premium and it tasted much better. After that you pick your flavor. A lot of the flavors are very cereal related. I grew up not eating cereal so not really a fan of any of those type of flavors. My wife and I got taro and coconut. Both flavors were just ok. I guess if you like some of the cereal flavors it would be better. read more

I like this place a lot. The ice cream is always fresh and it is very customizable. My very young nephew has to be on a non dairy, non gluten diet so the ability for me to come here and get him the coconut base with almost any flavor is great. You cannot get a non dairy base (cashew or coconut) in a pint except for two flavors- and of course not at all the popular flavors. When I go to creamistry I usually just get two larger one dairy base and one coconut base and take them home to eat over time. I see lots of people on here complaining about the price but you have to remember that employees here technically do more 'work' since they physically have to make each product every customer orders. On top of that the machines they use to make the ice cream aren't cheap and they have to up keep them. They also have to constantly be buying nitrogen. You have to take all of these things into account when thinking about why something cost as much as it does. The location of the store has to do with it too. It is right by the galleria. Any Ice cream shop from the galleria area, heights, west U and inside the loop is not going to be cheap... if you want cheap ice cream go to the grocery store and buy a gallon of generic. The only reason I took a star off is because they need to be able to have both non dairy options available to make into a pint and into a ice cream cake when requested. read more

PSA: the black sesame flavor is back for a while! I had read a review saying it was gone, so I opted for the earl grey pie yesterday, but saw on their screen that black sesame is back for a limited time. I love love loveee this place and completely understand why the prices are higher than regular ice cream - because this isn't regular ice cream. My boyfriend thought the "premium cream" as the default option was a bit bougie, but it really makes all the difference in the creaminess and thickness of the ice cream. It's also genius that customers have the option to pick a dairy base because paying $1-2 more for dairy-free cream is really nothing compared to never being able to eat ice cream again if you're lactose-sensitive/intolerant. For the month of October, you can get a free topping, which would normally cost you $1. Tbh I would probably never get toppings because 5 slices of banana for $1 is ridiculous considering that Trader Joe's sells bananas for $0.19 each (shameless plug bc I love that place). It's may be worth getting the toppings if you want them mixed in but otherwise you're kinda getting ripped off. read more

It's nitrogen ice cream, so basically they make Your ice cream from scratch by pouring all the ingredients into your personalized bowl and freezing it with nitrogen. Totally not harmful to the body, so no worries! They have lots of flavors to choose from ones that I love are "Thai Tea" & "green tea". The ice cream in my opinion is OK, I think I would just prefer almond milk base. To me the cashew milk tastes like straight cashew and you don't really get the flavor of the ice cream flavor that you chose, coconut is the same thing a bit overpowering. If they get almond milk I will totally change my review. I went to Creamistry for the very first time around 8pm on a Wednesday evening and I was surprised at how packed it was! The way Creamistry works is you choose a base (milk or vegan milk basically which is $1.00 extra) then choose an ice cream flavor and toppings which are $.50 extra. Overall I got a small animal cookie flavor ice cream with marshmallows and it was $6.50 which I think was def not worth it! After ordering, we sat down and waited to be called for our ice cream. Once we got the ice cream, we noticed there were not marshmallows in it so we can to tell them to fix it. After fixing our ice cream, we were ready to dig in. I will say the ice cream is definitely creamy, but I still do not think it is worth the price. read more

Liquid nitrogen-made ice cream! As soon as I heard of it, I knew I had to try it one day and so I found myself there on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy and though they have seating, they were full. There are two small tables outside but those were full too. The place is located in a packed shopping center next to Carter's but you should (eventually) find a parking spot. There is a base price for a size of ice cream (one flavor only) at almost $6 for a small and almost $8 for a large, which also includes a waffle. It's an additional $1 for each topping which you can have mixed in. They had a number of flavors I was interested in but ended up sticking with black sesame with mochi mixed in. My order totaled at around $7.50. Not cheap, but they have a reward program if you enter in your number where you get a free ice cream after 10 purchases. They also have already made flavor and mixed in combinations that you can pick for just over $8 or you can make your own for the same price (1 flavor, 2 toppings, and whipped cream). Those come in a plastic cup. You can also go fancy and get your ice cream in a chocolate bowl or with a brownie. He took my name and we waited back at the front by the entrance to pick up our ice cream. They have a liquid ice cream base which they mix in stand up mixers and pump in liquid nitrogen to freeze it as it is whipped. I love the cloud of liquid nitrogen that envelopes you as you wait your turn to place your order since the line you wait in passes by the counter where they make it. The employees don't look particularly thrilled to be there but then again, it's a job, haha... We got our ice cream about 4 minutes later and we went outside to enjoy our treat. It's pretty creamy and thick. The mochi was interspersed throughout the ice cream (about 2 scoops worth) with some scattered on top, so not too bad for an additional dollar. They come with those colorful spoons similar to the ones you get from Menchie's. All in all, a cool experience and I do like the texture of the ice cream more than your typical ice cream. The sesame flavor was apparent and had bits of actual roasted black sesame throughout the ice cream. Delicious and refreshing! I'd likely return again to try their other flavors but it won't be a regular thing, as it's not very easy on the wallet.... read more
