I came here with some friends. They have a lot of cool flavors, but only one vegan option that isn't ice cream which was pretty disappointing. I opt to get the sno-cone instead, but it still didn't satisfy my craving for ice cream. The sno-cone was very mid, not as good as Daya's Sno-cones in Luling (they are the best!). Similarly to how there is a BAMBU in most Vietnamese communities or a Red Ribbon for Filipinos, the desi equivalent is most definitely Kwality Ice Cream. Buried within a strip mall in Hillcroft's Little India (#1) Kwality is an HTown necessity given the many warm months around the year and a solid dessert option for the area. The interior is small, so seating is nearly non-existent. It is takeout friendly and definitely a magnet for sweet tooths looking for a post dinner treat. Despite being an ice cream shop, I felt like the ventilation wasn't up to par as it felt very room temp at best with a tinge of stale air. (#2) The flavors are true to their South Asian roots with notable ones that include the uber popular kulfi falooda, malai kulfi, rajbhog, jogpaan masala, and my recent go-to, saffron pistachio. The sleeper is the thandai, which is basically the most Indian ice cream ever with almonds, fennel seeds, watermelon kernels, rose petals, pepper, poppy seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk and sugar. Soooo I didn't get a picture of my ice cream because it's not a great explanation. Let's just say when I walked in the line was four groups deep. And there were only two workers on a Sunday afternoon. So I waited about 25 minutes just to order a quick Malai Falood Shake. There was no one mandating the line so people were just cutting. To be honest not the greatest experience in the heart of hilcroft. I rather go to the one in Richmond. Do not even try to use the restroom. It was hot and not clean. Thanks to my Yelper friends Nadir for recommending Falooda and Sara I for South Asian flavored ice cream at Kwality Ice Cream. I'm always into food adventures. Falooda is kind of like an ice cream float. The combination of yummy candies in a tall cup mixed with nuts, noodles, sweet milk with a scoop of fragrant ice cream. Inside of restaurant is very simple. You order with an employee and pay at the counter. There is no place to sit, however, only seating area is the bar stools (only 2) by the window. I assume this place gets packed with no room to stand. Since my visits were daytime during Ramadan, I rarely saw anyone. Trying each flavor can be challenging, especially they have signs indicating no samplings. I have to respect the policy by not asking. But the employee gave me samples anyway. Oh how nice. She said just 2 per person. It's a good policy because some ice creams are strong than others. After trying 2, like Pan Masala and Mawa flavors, rose petal flavor became bland. The ingredients in the flavor card don't say how it taste, especially the savory ones. Thanks to Sara's explanations. They do have just fruity flavors without spices or exotic fruits. This place had unique Indian-inspired flavor such as rose petal, kulfi falooda, thandai, mango kulfi, pista badam etc. As much as vanilla and strawberry are traditional flavors available anywhere, its these unique flavors that caught our attention. And not only are the flavors unique, but they taste really really good. We got a combo of kulfi falooda and fig walnut while the other cone was pistachio nut and mango kulfi. The flavors were rich, creamy, and tasted exactly like their ingredients. My favorite flavor was the kulfi falooda and mango kulfi. Absolutely delish and the flavors I would recommend. The servers were very polite and let us sample all of their flavors which we asked to sample before making our purchase. I feel like I want to try every single ice cream here in the upcoming days. This is such a great little place I think everyone should know about. The falooda and Kulfi are delicious. I believe it's an Indian dessert place . I like the kesar kulfi too but last time I decided to try the ice cream as well and got the rose flavor. I love all things rose, and theirs has a strong rose flavor without being overpowering. It has just the right amount of saffron in it and the subtle flavors are delicious. The kulfi is creamy and doesn't melt too quickly. They have plenty of flavors to try out- both traditional and non-traditional. They are always happy to explain any of the flavors to me and give good recommendations. When we walked in, I saw that there were plenty of flavors that are not your typical ice cream flavors. They were Indian fusion, obviously. I didn't even know where to begin. No worries, though. The nice young lady who was helping me was super friendly and super patient. I wanted to sample a bunch load of flavors but I didn't want to be one of those guys. But still, no worries, she just smiled and told me that I could sample as many flavors as I would like to. Sweetness!! However, since I just wanted something that's more typical, I decided to get fruit flavored ice cream: Lychee and Orange Pineapple. My sister decided to get the Cookies n Cream and Ferrero Rocher. The doubles cost $4.99 each so the total for two doubles cost us a little under $11 with sales tax included. The flavors were good. The portion, however, I didn't think was generous enough. Yes, I got two scoops, but since I'm a frequent visitor to Marble Slab where your cup gets pretty much filled up with ice cream, the double scoops I received at Kwality Ice Cream felt a little... hollow. Anyway, I enjoyed my ice cream and so did my sister. I'm definitely going to go back to try more of the non-traditional ice cream flavors that they have to offer. We stopped by Kwality Ice Cream for a pre-dinner snack on a weekday. I had read about Kwality online months ago so I was excited to check out this Indian ice cream shop. They're located off of Westheimer in an "Indian area" in a shopping center with several other businesses. Once we walked in, we were happy to see that they had a lot of flavors available (20+). Some are your usual suspects and some are flavors you'll find nowhere else. After sampling a couple, I went with the medium cup which gives you your choice of two flavors. I went with one basic (cookies and cream) and one unique (mango something...apologies for forgetting the name). The prices are affordable. While the lady was incredibly helpful in serving us and the kulfi tasted great (I got the rose kulfi and mango kulfi), my entire party suffered from stomach problems after dining here. It's strange because this wasn't my first time having kulfi, so I don't know if this was a preparation error or something. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first walked in, but was surprised by the number of flavors they had there! They of course they have your traditional flavors, like vanilla and chocolate, and others like ferrer rocher and pistachio. However, the most exotic ones are the ones where they have combined it with traditional south Asian flavors like masala and raj bhog. It was my first time ever experiencing those flavors in the form of ice cream and it was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the guava and lychee and got a double scoop of that. The pricing was relatively decent, around $4 for 2 generous scoops. The texture was very creamy and light, nothing too over powering. I would come back to check out their smoothies aka faloodas.
