My mother got me hyped about this event for the entire week and it exceeded my excitement! All 5 of my family members joined Andrea at Summerfest in Kailua for the koi pond painting. The experience, itself was so positive. Andrea was patient and encouraging, which was definitely needed for our paintbrush wielding attempts. My family bonded very well, which was a pleasant contrast to the usual yelling matches and door slamming we're so used to. That morning, I wasn't in the best mood. Call it art therapy or whatever but during the painting, I DIDN'T want to rip anyone's head off! After the class, we were on a such a painting-high (euphoria not fumes) that we went to a store and loaded up on craft paint and paintbrushes. It's fast becoming a beloved family activity; right up there with sitting on the couch and doing nothing productive. I heard she does classes with alcohol involved. Alcohol and paint, i'll definitely try that out! Maybe this time with friends. P.S. Mine is the one with the white fish (aka best painting shown).

Finished product! Look at all those smiling faces.

Had a blast with friends and family. Instructor was great, arrived early and set up everything. Step by step instructions made us all feel like artists! We chose a sunset/rise scene with islands. We were all able to make our own island based on personal preference. We're already planning our next party!!

    Fun after photos!

Andrea hosted a wonderful afternoon for our group of friends! She is an amazing and patient teacher/instructor and an even better artist! She has a lovely personality and we couldn't be more happy with the guidance she gave on our artwork! Thank you so much!!

Me and my BFFs at our first paint and sip with Andrea and create a canvas!

Andrea is the best!!! I'm not a artsy Fartsy person but the way she taught made painting soooooo easy! I enjoyed every second of it. Went to Oeno with 8 of my girlfriends and we are all hooked!!!! I requested Andrea to come to my birthday to hold a class!!! I am sooooooooo excited for her to come and teach us more!

There's a lot of parking back there. My daughter just finished up her second session at Art Tent Studios. She took the late class on Saturday for grades 1-3 with Mrs. Okano. At first we didn't know what to expect with art class. We didn't know anyone who attended art class here but we just wanted to try because my daughter loves art. It was such a good experience. Her teacher, Mrs Okano, is so creative with all their projects. Each week they were working on something new and interesting. My daughter was always excited to be going to art class. It's really nice that the class size is small and Mrs Okano is a great teacher. She's very patient with them and has them really explore their own creative side rather than each kid just make a copy of the teacher. At the end of the two sessions there was an art exhibition. We got to see all of the art work from all of the classes they offered. My daughter had about 6-7 projects that she completed. You could really see her growth from the first project to the last. We signed up for another session with Mrs Okano and can't wait to see what new things my daughter will be learning.

I found the DAC to be so interesting with the artwork displays from mostly local artists. There is a different exhibit each month and the best part, it's free to visit. They also hold art classes there. The layout of the center is a decent size, white walls, and spacious walking thru. They also have their own restrooms which were very clean. In January, the monthly exhibit was about the WWII internment camp in Waipahu as part of the Honouliuli National Historic Site's 10th anniversary celebration. It was informative & I learned somethings that I never knew before. Not particularly well laid out with a table right as you walk in. Seemed clunky. And it was also weird that the labels didn't seem to be uniform...with one (maybe 2?) artist(s) having a QR code. Perplexing. The show itself was good...if kinda redundant.

If you're coming from Target, walk straight until you see an open area to the right; it's around that corner (across from Maui Divers). Super easy to find! When we walked in, we were greeted by Jen, who happened to be our instructor as well! There are charms to pick from on the left side of the store, a table of different gems in the middle, and, to the right, a station for permanent jewelry! You'll have a base pay for what you're making, and then you'll be charged for the gems or charms when you add them on (prices are behind the gems, and charms will have a price in each of their little cubbies). My friend and I initially wanted to do the silversmith class, but we were so intrigued by the inlay, so we chose that instead! Honestly, it was super easy to make! The band has an empty center for you to crush the gems of your choosing (they offer a variety to choose from). So you crush your gems, then put a little, and I mean LITTLE, bit of resin in the empty center, place your gems on it, then cure it with the UV light and continue all around until you're done! Then you do the big curing, your artist will smooth it for you in the grinder, then you polish it by hand, then polish it on the machine! In total, it took us about an hour and a half. I honestly had so much fun and learned so much that I can't wait to do it again! All in all, my friend and I have already decided that we're coming back and trying a different project!

The hours are from 9AM-4PM. You can do full or half day. We need a little rest on Sunday's so the 1PM-4PM works out well for us. I'm glad I left a little earlier from Kaneohe to find their location. GPS takes you right there but there is on signage for OAT. I didn't know it was upstairs from all the restaurants. I called the number they have listed on yelp and they let us know to go up stairs. Two of the teachers greeted us at the door. They showed us around and explained what they were going to learn. His first art lesson was with Andy Lee. He is an artist for Marvel, Dragon Ball Z, etc. He was teaching Chinese brush strokes. My son jumped right in and started using the brush. After 2 hours of Art class he went to Tech class where he learned to make a vacuum out of a water bottle , card board and batteries. Yesterday day was his 2nd Sunday and he learned 3D pen art and how to construct a mini elevator/lift. He loves everything about OAT. They also give them a little time to play with big building blocks and robotic toys. He wants me to leave him there from 9AM-4PM so he can learn more. Maybe next session.
