My friends took me for my birthday and we did a Paris/Eiffel Tower painting that was so much fun that I worked with Deb (one of the owners) to add an event the following week to bring my husband and kids. Deb let me pick the painting and put it on the calendar for others to join. Stephanie was our first instructor and she was very good. My daughter and I are looking at dates to go back and the paintings in the next few weeks look like so much fun. read more

I'm glad I bought the discounted deal online because I would've been angry if I paid full price for this experience. The "snacks" sold in the study were actually bags of potato chips, not real snacks. I asked the worker if I could bring outside food in, she didn't give a firm "No," but said something along the lines of "we don't normally allow that." Basically, no, you can't take outside food in, so eat before you get there! The wine was $12 for a pour in a plastic cup. For $12/pour, I expect it be served in a wine glass. The class started 15 minutes late because the instructor did not have the supplies set out for all the participants. This came off as extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Once the class got going it was fine. There isn't much guidance on placement in the paintings and you're forced to use a lot of your own creativity. At the end of the session (it ended early, even after starting late) my painting looked unfinished and had very little resemblance to the sample painting. Overall, this wasn't a great experience. There are other social painting companies that execute this concept much better. read more

Had a team building event which was beyond my expectations. Deb is excellent to work with and everything was perfect upon our arrival. We had a delicious charcuterie board and beverages. Chan was our instructor and so fun helping us with our painting skills! Erica was behind the bar taking care of our drinks, there was another woman and for the life of me I can't remember her name-sorry. Everyone enjoyed the experience and I received compliments on picking this for our event. It was relaxing and people were able to put those phones away and explore their creative juices. Create Mix & Mingle did a private party at Zambra in Burlingame for my grandma's birthday celebration and it was so much fun! We really enjoyed ourselves. We originally were going to their venue but in the contract, it states that no one under 21 years old is allowed in the party because they have a bar inside too. Two of my cousins are only 19 so we were bummed when we found out they could not participate. However, Debra (the lady my mom worked with to organize the party) works with a few restaurants around the area and allowed us to have our paint party at Zambra, which is right off of Burlingame Avenue. Of course, we had to eat there in order to have the paint party but the tapas were great! We ordered a bunch of food and it was the perfect amount to feed a dozen people! Our instructor, B, was really sweet and so patient with all of us. There were about 12 of us that she was guiding through the painting (forest-sunset landscape) and she did a fantastic job. She was quick to provide us with extra paint, advice and time since some of us were moving slower than the rest. I love paint parties and think they are a great idea for any family function or team building in general. Thanks for making my grandma's birthday unique and fun! read more

My workout buddies and I had a super, fun evening at Mix and Mingle last night. We were warmly greeted as we entered the facility. Our bar tender was very friendly and informative and I enjoyed a lovely glass of chardonnay. Our instructor was great! She was patient and knew how to handle a large group as us! Set up and break down was done efficiently and easily. We all left with our masterpieces and for many of us we were given the opportunity to experience something we would not normally do plus receiving a different lens on the importance of working the right side of our brains! read more

Fun time!! Came here today for the mimosa/paint morning and had a BLAST!!! This place is such a cool idea, painting and drinking who would of thought?! Well it's awesome and I think everyone should try it at least once, show your creative side. I have no artist ability really and had a bunch of laughs and fun creating my masterpiece. This place has snacks, coffee, beer, wine and champagne ( all drinks are a separate cost). You pay for the class that includes all the materials you need for your painting.. it's usually $50 but this place is having a promotion on Groupon for 2 people to paint for $50 and that's what we used.. definitely worth it! Service great, experience great! The only reason I'm giving this place a 4/5 star is because the drinks are on the pricier side. read more

I chose this as a place to have our company party - we had dinner at a local restaurant and then came here for dessert. I have a pretty quiet group but everyone had a great time! Those that wanted adult beverages could have them, and those that wanted softer drinks were happy too. Angela was FANTASTIC to deal with. Came with 7 others for a friends birthday. It was perfect. Night in Paris was the painting. There were probably 20 people and a real fun mellow vibe. We were able to follow the instructor without feeling like we had to perform this perfect task/painting. He was a lot of fun but real chill at the same time. I had a private party for 30 people on January 19th and was communicating back and forth with Deb via email and text. She made herself available to chat, responded to me in a timely manner, answered all of my questions, and was very understanding and accommodating, all of which was SO nice. We handled all the details over just a few phone calls and some emails, and she was able to help me get a registration link so I could send it to my guests, too. On the day of the event, I walked in and she warmly greeted me with a hug, introduced me to our instructor for the evening, Eleanor, and checked in throughout the night. My experience could not have been better. My guests loved it, we had a wonderful time painting and drinking, and we really loved both Deb and Eleanor. I would absolutely return for another fun night and would highly recommend this place to any friends looking for a great experience! read more

It was fun only because I went with a couple of other ladies. We were put off since we got there early, sat down for 5-10 minutes and then were forced (by the instructor) to relocate because a larger group wanted our seats. We were moved to a center aisle which was very crowded, sitting back to back with other patrons; especially challenging when getting up to get more paint. Our evening event was to begin at 6:30 but didn't start until 7:00. The instruction was very slow at first but in the end seemed rushed. We didn't finish until 10 pm and our paintings were too wet to transport at first. -- and, we were not the last to finish as a few others also had to wait for paint to dry. We each paid less than $20 because we got a half-price deal thru Living Social. So, for that price it was a good way to hang out with friends and try something new. The music was really great and overall ambience nice and fun. But, I don't think I would go back. read more

Deb and Angie were very accomodating for our group of 9. We had to make several contacts to get it all organized, and yet they were patient with us. Once we were there, the instructor made sure that we all had our supplies while we were getting situated with our wine so that we could relax. We are all moms and we don't get out together that often, so a little wine was a must. They seemed to understand that we were there to paint AND have fun, because they made sure we were set. The instructor was very patient with us since we are not all natural artists and we found ourselves laughing at our own work, yet he kept us on track as best he could. We all had fun. read more

I went for a group night of women in government. All the materials are set up with instructor in front to guide us through the painting. Very relaxed with music playing. Instructor goes slowly, step by step, but does not give any feedback to participants. It is a fun event. My only complaint was that my thin brush was too worn out to make a thin line and it would have been nice if they provided fresh water for the paint brushes after an hour or so. read more

I had originally heard about CM&M from my kids who did a event at summer camp and loved it!!! We had a women's night out here and it was amazing! Angela was so accommodating and helpful. The art instructor, Bea, I think, was great! Everything about the night was very very fun. We had an absolutely amazing time and I would highly recommend it to both children and adults. The only constructive criticism I would have is not to try to push so many different aspects of sales at us it was a bit overwhelming. read more

Came here for one of their 21+ classes with a few friends, and we had an amazing experience. I am by no means a painter, but our instructor, Chan made it so easy and fun, and we all left with pretty darn impressive works of art. The owners were also incredibly friendly, and the entire experience was just so much fun. They also have a good selection of drinks at the bar, which provided a little "liquid courage" when it came to the painting! I loved that they were true to their name and encouraged us to "mix & mingle" and see how everyone's paintings were coming along at various points during the evening. This is a great place for a Girls' Night Out, corporate team-building, date night, or birthday parties (for kids or adults!). read more

I'm just going to jump right into this review... cause I'm not very good at giving reviews. My friend and I decided to try something artistic and take a break from our usual girls night at the bar.... I am VERY artistically challenged. I can hardly draw a stick figure but I wanted to get my creative juices going. My friend felt the same. This place is literally less than half a mile from my house, so I chose them instead of other companies that were located in San Francisco or East Bay. Plus I really wanted to see if I could paint a moonlit wave :) When we first arrived we were a bit intimidated because we did not know what to expect, this was only thought about for a week before we decided to go for it. I have to say that everyone that was there was amazing. We went to the bar (it's so CUTE) and ordered a South African Rose...it was amazing. The teacher (i am HORRIBLE with names, so bare with me here) was very patient as people kept talking over her, but she handled it so well. She also taught very well, she gave instructions but left it open for people to be creative on their own so that we all didn't have exact same pictures. The ONLY thing I probably would recommend, is that there was about 5 times that I tried to get her attention because I had questions ( I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly..even though we were supposed to be creative on our own.) There was one woman who worked there who started doing something to a canvas ( the canvas was backwards, so I'm not sure if she was working on a separate project, since we were already half way in at this point.) She could see I was struggling as I made my moon into a sun :( so she came over and was SUPER attentive and helped me out. I made my sun into a moon and could not be happier with my picture. The same with my friend. We walked out laughing and talking about doing more of these nights. Maybe once a month, since it is a little bit on the expensive side BUT totally worth it. I then showed my painting to my family the next day, and they were so impressed (since they know my lack of artistic skills) that we are now talking about doing a whole family night and including our 3 little ones we have in the house. Is it going to be expensive for 7 people...probably....will it be worth it... most definitely. The first drink is free (and from what I saw they have a wide range of wines, beer, and then soft drinks and waters for the people who did not want to drink.) After that, it does cost (different prices depending on what you wanted but not unreasonable or expensive), and you can leave your painting to get more to drink, or there is also a break half way through for people to walk around, use the restroom, or order more drinks... i was a wee bit tipsy :) I have to say all in all, this was an amazing experience, and I am so happy that I did it, and will definitely come back here. read more

This venue does excellent team building and corporate events, that will definitely bring colleagues together in a fun and unique way. Also great for a night out with friends, and family. Public classes are held 6 days a week, so it's super easy to organize a day that works well for your whole group. It's also a great centrally located meeting place if you have friends gathering from SF, East bay and SJ because it's right off the 101, 92 and San Mateo bridge. One of the best things is that you never have to worry about parking, it's in a plaza with ample ample parking. Unlike heading out to paint nights at restaurants you aren't crammed in with people eating dinner in tiny spaces. Though, they do let you bring in your own snacks and will even help you order pizza if you're hungry. The instructors are super helpful and will walk over and help you if you ask for help. Bonus: for over 21 classes your first glass of wine, beer is included! They also have a kids and family studio where you can do all ages painting or private birthday parties. What an excellent idea. I took my daughter here just to try it out and it was absolutely a great experience. They have all the paint for you, all the brushes really great instruction, and even a little bar area if you wanted champagne or Mamosa in the morning.
