It is 90 degrees today and feels like 95 according to the Weather Channel (see attached photo). I seemed to have lost my appetite. At around 4 pm, I decided to try my luck at Sabrina. I was so happy to find a watermelon cake and it was an instant cure to me. The sweetness tasted refreshing especially under this weather. The mouthful feel of icing and filing was soothing, which seemed a unique feature for all Sabrina cakes. After one serving, I regained energy and started to enjoy the beauty of the watermelon cake with my eyes. Then I was able to appreciate it not as a piece of cake but of art. The icing color had three layers, green, white and pink (from bottom up, please see attached photo), representing the rind and flesh of watermelon. I am not a cake or chocolate girl...but a solid frosting wins me over. These cupcakes are gorgeous and can easily be shared due to their generous size. We sampled carrot cake, red velvet (amazing), double chocolate, chocolate peanut butter Oreo (awesome even though I like peanut butter on its own), French toast and the Valentine's special. What a cute place. Sabrina was a former understudy of Suzi and just moved into Suzi Cakes and made it her own. I must say, I really like the decor and I appreciate that there are more options than just cupcakes now. So with that, I tried a little from column A, a little from column B. * Chocolate (double, dark, ?) cupcake: The crispy chocos on the outside really made this. It was overall on the darker side, less sweet (good) but slightly less moist (not as good) than I expected. Then again, I did show up rather late in the day. The lighter chocolate filling helped balance. 4.5 stars. * Apple pie cupcake: 5 stars. Very well balanced between textures and flavors, with a glazed apple on top. Big fan. * Chocolate/nut/coconut bar, forget the name: 3.75 stars. The coconut held it together but too much was being asked of it. There were too many nuts for the amount of chocolate, so it wasn't quite sweet enough to be dessert and had a dry texture when biting into it (saved by the coconut). * Giant chocolate chip cookie: Again, I showed up later in the day, so this may be moister when it's fresh out of the oven. It wasn't hard, but it was getting stiff. I tried chilling it because I love cold cookies with milk, and that just turned it into a rock. That's my fault. I did sample it before sticking it in the fridge, so I think I can still assess it fairly at 4 stars. Food average: 4.3125 stars Service average: 5 stars. Very friendly. Sabrina herself greeted me when I walked in, and she and her staff were happy to walk me through the new history of the place and what they have to offer. I would come back just for the service with a smile. I'm impressed with the success Sabrina is having at such a young age. I will definitely find myself back here. Based on my first experience, I'll try to come earlier in the day and hit up the cupcake side a little more often. Though this is right on the cusp between 4 and 5 stars, I am rounding up with the expectation that me being a few hours earlier will yield moister, chewier confections. read more

The best bakery and cake shops possibly in Mountain lakes and Boonton. My wife is a great fan. We have got cakes from this places for numerous birthday parties and celebrations. Recently we got one for Father's Day. We got strawberry shot cake. Had super fresh strawberries and unique taste. It did have some flavors similar to the famous 'tres leche cake'. I ordered a $180 cake for my mothers 70th birthday and sent a photo and they were confident that they could recreate it without a problem. When I picked up the cake I was shocked and embarrassed to present it. Please see the photos and judge for yourself. Only giving 2 stars because the taste was decent and they refunded me $25 for the inconvenience. It's unfortunate because they post beautiful cakes on their social media but don't post these to show what you'll actually get. The peanut butter cupcake was moist and fluffy. It wasn't overpowering or dry, as peanut butter tends to make cakes/cupcakes. The citrus cupcake was also moist and fluffy. I enjoyed the base of the cupcake but didn't enjoy the citrus buttercream frosting and filling. Not particularly my favorite, but if you're into Citrus, this may be the perfect cupcake for you! So after parking in front and reading a few reviews, I thought I'd give them a try. The inside is clean but a bit touristy. Upon entering the store, they have a Keurig machine. This is a turnoff for a "bakery." The cupcake selection is pretty extensive but they are limited to just different cakes with different icing. I purchased the s'mores cupcake. The box it is placed in is quite interesting. The icing does not get messed up and there's a tray inside that pulls up so you don't mess the icing. But that's it. The cake like other reviews is on the dry side. And I really didn't get a sense of s'mores after eating this one. It's a chocolate cake with white icing dusted with what's supposed to be graham cracker crumbs and a Hershey's kiss on top. They only way I'm coming back would be to try a whole cake or one of their smaller cheesecakes. Except a whole cake risks being dry except it would have filling. Chances are I will not be back. There are plenty of other bakeries along this road. read more

I found Creations by Sabrina on Yelp. Here I was struggling to find a cake for my 30th birthday. I called so many places and they wouldn't accommodate me. But when I came across Creations by Sabrina I was pleasantly surprised. They were able to accommodate my request in such a short period of time but also exceeded my expectations. The staff was very professional and courteous. Sabrina was very courteous and kept me in the loop when I sent her the photos of the cake I wanted. Saving the best for last I thought since it's a fancy cake it wouldn't taste that great. But my guests and I loved the cake. It was over that night itself. Everyone loved the cake and the cream and the cake complimented each other so well. I will definitely be going to Sabrina's again. Where do I begin? I have bought countless different cupcakes and cookies, and the sweet ball jar desserts, and lemme tell you... they are eaten right up. Every time I head to Main Street, my husband asks me to pop into Sabrina's and get a couple of cupcakes, then my kids yell, "get me something, too". Her cupcakes are incredible, and so are her cakes! We were lucky to have friends pick up a few different cupcakes & a jumbo cookie for us from this bakery yesterday. I bake a lot, am very picky & can tell when average chocolate, cream cheese & butter, etc. are being used. Well, the chocolate overload, samoa & peanut butter cheesecake cupcakes were the best I've ever had in terms of the quality of the ingredients used & how great they tasted. They're also larger than regular sized cupcakes so the price is very reasonable. The chocolate chip cookie was also terrific & has 2 different kinds of chips in it. Apparently, they only opened 2 months ago & I can assure you you're going to want a new business like this to be around when the quarantine is over so it's worth your time to check it out now.
