I came down to Bethany beach to visit a family member for new years weekend, and I decided what better way to treat yourself than a nice spa day! I quite honestly just looked up "massage in Bethany beach" and Creative Day Spa is what I found. I booked online which was extremely easy. After the fact I read the yelp reviews & I would be lying if I said I was not worried the night before. However - I had a wonderful experience. I parked in the hotel garage, walked in - the lobby has its own coffee store... I got my coffee, and headed down the elevator to the lower lobby. (If you are someone who is going to harp over the fact that this spa is downstairs of the hotel... this isn't the place for you). The front desk was extremely welcoming, they had a beverage stand for customers (free water and coffee) while you wait. First I had my massage - I booked the "surrender" massage, my massage therapist asked me prior to going into the room if I'm sure that's what I wanted (I clearly didn't read the description) & allowed me to switch to a hot stone massage last minute. WHEN I TELL YOU THIS WAS THE BEST MASSAGE I HAVE EVER OBTAINED, I am not lying. My therapist was Kaytra of "K" as she calls herself. Her pressure - her techniques - they are amazing. There was not one bad thing I can say about it. She honestly started my experience off with 5 stars! For those complaining about the treatment rooms, the room I was in (pictured) was exactly what I've experienced even in high end spas. The room does the job. She had music which was relaxing and helped eliminate the sounds from others in the lobby. She asked me half way through if the pressure was okay for me. It was awesome. Bed was comfortable. After that, my mini facial. (Only thing I will say which was NOT a big deal is - it felt that the customers were not aware of all the services I had scheduled that day... K told me to get dressed and take my time / when I'm finished she will meet me at the lobby desk... however my facial was after that - so my esthetician came in thankfully prior to me getting dressed).. I received a mini facial, which was exactly what it says. Mini. It was just enough to get a little action to help feel fresh. It felt a tiny bit rushed / nothing was explained such as "first I'll do this, now I'm doing this" - but I didn't mind. However, I can see where other customers may complain about that. Also, the music shut off half way through which led to me being able to hear everyone in the hallway. It didn't allow me to relax, I would suggest they always ensure music is on during service to make sure it doesn't interrupt the zen lol. My estheticians name was Maddie, she was a sweet young girl - extremely nice. Last up - Gel pedi / Dip mani. My nail tech was Mackenzie, who was awesome. We talked the entire time which felt extremely normal and easy to do. She was super kind and nice - i have seen in other reviews that some customers were upset with where the pedicures were done. Yes it's a hallway, but I didn't feel awkward or crammed. It was just fine - there is not massage chairs but the booth was comfy! Also the pedicure bowl, super cute. The whole salon was sanitary. The nail room was small, but so cute! They made the space they have work - I have no complaints. Again, super great conversation. I enjoyed my time. I WILL be going back. 110% *UPDATE - sadly (no fault of my tech bc she was so amazing) but more than half my nails (dip mani) fell off and chipped in half 3 days after getting them done. If I go again, I'll be getting gel. I just think maybe it was cheap dip powder... BUT again, my nail tech was amazing.* read more

We were impressed with the measures taken to combat COVID 19 while still maintaining the comfort of their clients. We went for a couples relaxation treatment. As soon as we went inside, our temperatures were taken, and we were politely asked to wash our hands and keep our masks on. The staff are really nice and accommodating. The spa itself needs updating; it's very outdated and old. I received a full body massage treatment, reflexology and a pedicure-the treatments were mediocre at best. I do appreciate the fact that I told my massage therapist not to touch my lower back and she listened. Most therapists treat it like a challenge and see if they can get my lower back "fixed". The massage was not deep enough - I barely felt it. My massage therapist talked during the entire treatment. Not very relaxing =/...I will not be back but I will again say that the staff was really nice. Great customer service! read more

My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary by indulging in massages and a bit of pampering. We snuck away to OCMD for the weekend and started off with deep tissue and hot stone massages on Friday. We were both happy with the services provided and were looking forward to our follow-up appointment on Sunday for a relaxation package. Our Sunday package included exfoliation, Swedish massage, European facial, and a mani/pedi. This was scheduled from 1-5 p.m. and cost a total of $580 for the two of us, plus gratuities. The exfoliation, massage, and facial weren't anything special, but were relaxing, which is what we were hoping for. The girl who was working with me was young and obviously inexperienced. I don't think we got what we paid for with that part of the session, but again, it was relaxing... so at least there's that. The mani/pedi was beyond a joke, for both of us. Definitely not a professional setting. We didn't get the paraffin wax dip. The pedi chairs are in a narrow hall, so we were constantly interrupted by other employees squeezing past our ladies. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. If you're courageous enough to go for a mani/pedi, bring your own slides or flops - we forgot ours and they didn't have any disposable. My loving hubby joined me in a mani and was happy with what he got, but his cuticles looked horrible. As far as my nails are concerned, I left at 4:15 instead of 5, with nails that looked like I bought my 13-yr-old niece a mani kit from a dollar store and let her practice on me. My cuticles are chewed up. My nails are crooked and obviously not shaped. She asked if I wanted color, but I declined because I'd just have to take it off to fix them. I didn't ask her to fix them because I was confident they'd just look worse if she worked on them more and didn't want to waste any more of our anniversary weekend. I didn't make a fuss, we paid and left. I shouldn't have to complain about services provided by a professional spa at a vacation resort, and I refused to waste time that I could be spending enjoying connecting with my husband. I'm grateful we didn't have plans to go to a fancy dinner afterwards because I would've been embarrassed to get dressed up with hack job nails. I'm curious what vetting process the management uses in their hiring process. When customers are willing to spend $600 at your salon in off season, I'd think you'd ensure the quality of services provided. read more

Theee of us went to OCMD for a girls weekend and were excited to set up some massages, facials and pedis. The room for the facial was fine and she did a nice job. Very calming and relaxing. I've had facials before where the person told me what each step was and what it did. She didn't but that was fine. Then I had a pedi which was in the basement by the spa lounge area. This spa lounge area was gray and depressing. No relaxing music playing, no robes, no recline chairs. Just rattan furniture and track lighting that looked like it was from the 8os. The pedicure chairs were in the hair salon and behind the cashiers. They didn't recline, massage or do anything. They sat straight up with no arm rests or anything and were quite uncomfortable. Supposedly they were only two weeks old but who chose these? Awful. If you are anywhere over 5'5 they're are uncomfortable! The pedi itself was fine but the most unrelaxing one I've ever had. I literally sat two feet behind the two cashiers and maybe 5' from the hair stylist. Very meh. The staff was very friendly and good at the services but the place needs a good upgrade and nicer ambiance. read more

Save yourself the aggravation & DO NOT go to this spa. Day 1: french manicure; the tip lines were so wavy & erratic that I was stumped! I didn't have on my reading glasses, so I couldn't tell how horrible they were until later. Day 2: pedicure; the SAME individual that butchered my manicure was now working on my feet. She actually cut my toe (bleeding) and I subsequently forbid her to touch my cuticles. I spent the whole time trying to decide if I should complain about the french manicure & finally decided to request for them to be painted over in black polish. Although she was very accommodating, the repair job was just as bad as the original & in the end, I spent time that evening, removing the polish entirely, as I was aggravated every single time I looked at my nails. What a waste of time and money. I would NEVER recommend this spa. read more

Update: The management, Sandy called me and was very apologetic about the experience and offered me an opportunity to redo the massage and also refunded me my money for massage, which I greatly appreciate. Overall the facial and massage was good, I would rate the facial experience higher than the massage experience. During the facial it was great and I enjoyed my time. The lady was very professional and good. Once I got to the back massage, the lady smelt like cigarettes and alcohol which made the experience somewhat unpleasant. I also think they should step up their quality. The room I used wasn't the best, usually you would expect to have place to change and a robe but it just felt below par. I did not make noise about it, I paid my money and left but I probably will not come back here based on the massage experience and the quality of the room read more

I came for a basic pedicure/ dip manicure this past Saturday (after everything had opened up post-COVID- yay!) I was surprised to see how tiny the salon was, but was pleased to see that extra precautions had been taken to make sure it was clean/ reduce the spread of infection (extra sanitizing precautions, dividers between stations). All of the receptionist and stylists I interacted with were very nice, but my specific technicians weren't very personable. Colors were limited for both services, which was perfectly fine! The basic pedicure was what you can expect but it was good and my feet feel nice and soft, polish is holding up really well. I did awkwardly have to ask my technician how to access the massage features on the chair after I heard another guest being explained how the chair worked by her technician. My biggest issue now a few days later is with my dip manicure. When it was being done, bottles of base coat/ activator looked really old and goopy, and the technician didn't really prepare my nails to what I'm used to in order for the manicure to last. She also put the powder on incredibly thick, and when filing it down it was done very uneven so my nails look bumpy. After my manicure was finished, I had to go back and ask her to file off portions on the edge of my nails because the powder/ top coat was stuck to the end of my finger. The layer of top coat is already peeling off of a majority of my nails, so I'm expecting chipping to be coming soon despite it only being 2 days later. I wish this issue would have come sooner so I could have gone back and fixed the problem before coming home. If you're willing to spend $50 for a pedicure, this is a great place. However I would not recommend it for a dip manicure! read more

This place was AMAZING!! Brittany did my European facial, and it was the best I've received so far. I totally forgot I was in a small room in the lower level of a hotel and felt so relaxed. The beds were so comfortable! Brittany also gave a wonderful head, arm/hand and chest (don't know how to spell that fancy word for it) massage. My face felt great and refreshed afterwards. Neli did my mani/pedi and they look so good! She is also so sweet and was a pleasure to spend an hour and a half with; really everyone at the salon was super nice and friendly.
