There is a giant rock wall on one side, and most of the path is dirt. It's very cool with the canopy of trees overhead. The only downside is the runners and bikers; otherwise, it's a nice walk. There is a parking lot with a bathroom beside it, and the two paths are labeled. Maybe next time we will take the other loop.

It is just another addition to the 28 mile, or so, loop around Lake Georgetown. I like to park at Overlook Park and walk over here. Lots of beautiful scenery with Blue Hole, that famous hole that never dries up, just a mile or so from San Gabriel Park. Booty's is home to the John Ischy Archeological Site which is protected by the North Rim of the San Gabriel, which I've yet to find. Also home to Booty's is the Georgetown Challenge Course. Along the trail from Booty's to San Gabriel Park are a couple of cool spots for bird watching and star gazing, and, of course the challenge course. Lots of the trail is lighted and offers three different surface areas like concrete, crushed granite, and, asphalt. It's beautiful and peaceful. Please help keep it that way. This park is isolated with only one way in by vehicle, but, several options by foot. Whether or not you do the full 28 miles around the lake, you will enjoy yourself here. Not only can you get your exercise on, but, this is a beautiful place to just come and veg out, read a book, or have a picnic. There is also a large covered pavilion that would be great for large gatherings. Booty's is good for the entire family, and, of course dogs. Please scoop your poop.

This is a very nice park for walking. There are some off cement paths but we only ventured down one…read morefor a bit before walking back to the main path. Those are narrow and the grass is high in those sections so keep that in mind. There are some nice canopy areas with trees that go over the path providing shade. This seems like a park you'd go early in the morning to walk. Parking was scarce. We found a tiny lot near the entrance so be aware. The river is nice and you're sure to see some turtles and birds here.

Loved it so much that I forgot to take photos…read more The equipment is awesome -- looks updated and has a ton of different climbing areas, etc. A good amount (and variety) of swings too. There are little hills next to the playground that have rock steps to climb. No idea if this is for humans or dogs or whatever but my toddler liked them! Ample green space to just run around (great if you have a younger toddler that can't use all the playground equipment yet). Lovely little walking trail nearby -- we had grandparents with us (stopped by en route to dinner) and they were able to take a nice walk. Ultimately, the design of this park is fantastic. The playground is surrounded by green space and separated from the parking area (which has ample spots btw) by large rocks. There is a road nearby but it's not super close and isn't particularly disruptive. Overall, it's just very pleasant being here. Loved it and wish it was closer.

I have been visiting Olson Meadows Park with my daughter for years. It is one of our all time…read morefavorites thanks to the tree coverage and shade, making summer months so much more bearable. After not visiting for a while, we stopped by today, and were surprised + impressed by the change! The play structures have been completely replaced and modernized. There are two separate structures for different age groups, and they are both fantastic. The playground is surrounded by large green spaces / fields, excellent for playing or practicing sports, flying kites, and more. My kids had a wonderful time playing and we can't wait to visit again soon, next time with a picnic lunch!

Went today for a relaxing Sunday and couldn't even stand it more than 30 minutes. A little Mexico block party down there was polluting the air. I don't go to a peaceful river spot to be bombarded by music loud enough to hear all the way down the river. Inappropriate and disrespectful. I'm sure there is an ordinance down there regarding such atrocity.

The primary namesake of this park actually sits on south Lynnwood Trail, but a section of it is…read moreattached to Summerwood Court. At one end of the park, you'll find swings, covered picnic tables with grills, a covered playscape and a very large retention pond behind it, but no water fountain or bathrooms. There's also a paved trail that leads from Sedalia Street through the park and almost all the way to Brushy Creek Rd. Trail Ridge Drive is the second part of the trail extension. It ends into neighborhood streets, including Mandarin Flyway Road, which leads you to an additional pond next to Brushy Creek Road. There's lots of green space and natural vegetation running along the trail. At the intersection of Lynnwood and Brushy Creek. you'll find the forest Oaks HOA pool, playscape and basketball court. The park may be public, but the pool is not. A great place to hike and bike along the trails and neighborhood sidewalks. Plenty of photos to acquaint you with the area.

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge makes for a great day trip if you don't mind about an…read morehour drive from central Austin, depending on traffic. I did a couple of stops while we were out there, Doeskin Ranch and Shin Oak Observation Deck. The main hike was Doeskin Ranch. There's a restroom right near the trailhead. It's not plumbed, just a chemical toilet, but it was clean, stocked with hand sanitizer, and being able to use the bathroom before starting the hike made the whole experience more relaxed. The hike itself was nice but very seasonal. I went in January, so the landscape was mostly golden-brown grass with limited greenery and not much tree cover. You're mostly enjoying bushes, rocks, and scattered trees rather than lush views. I'd really like to come back in late spring or late fall when things are greener and more alive. The trail is fairly rocky and there aren't many mile markers, although the trails seemed pretty easy to follow. After Doeskin Ranch, I stopped at the Shin Oak Observation Deck, which is very close by. There's a nice gazebo with a scenic outlook and a short, meditative gravel trail with three or four nature signs encouraging you to slow down and be present. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk through depending on your pace. I recommend starting toward the left and going counterclockwise so you encounter the signs head-on instead of from behind. Overall, both stops were enjoyable. They're not hikes I'd feel the urge to repeat soon, but they made for a fun day hike and I felt worth the drive.

There wasn't any shocking moment of awe, but there's lots of birds around and a neat little creek, it's a good place to get some appreciation of the Hill County and get (mostly) away from development.
