The chowder itself was worth traveling from Rockaway to Tillamook for. It was even worth a more industrial view vs. an establishment with a more coastal and picturesque backdrop. The salad bar was on point. The variety of salad add-ins, dressings, and topping crunchy-bits were epic. It was a nice balance to the very rich perfect chowder I am already missing. I miss it. None of the beers that i have tried are particularly memorable, but they are very drinkable. The service is courteous and they strive to keep the tables clean. The ordering here is done at the counter and I have found this to be a great way of taking orders in a casual establishment. This allows one to peruse the menu at a table at one's own speed, then walk up to the counter to ask any questions about the menu and then place the order. My experiences have been that the employee at the register has always been patient, informative and respectful. They bring your order to your table when it is ready. My experience is that they give you a conservative estimate of the time for preparing and the real time has been shorter. Note that I think they do a good job with turnaround times given how many customers are in the restaurant combined with their apparent significant take-out business. My dinner experiences have been very satisfying and that is what one would expect from a meat purveyor. However, they do not fumble the ball on the execution. Casual food, but tasty. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating: plenty of both. Part of the outside seating is heated and covered during much of the year. I have never been there when you could not choose a table. I think a great casual stop, and a unique one, when visiting the Tillamook area.
