As I was saying that, the staff member walked away. The interaction felt more like a lecture than the apology that would've been appropriate. The food overall was okay, but not memorable. My husband said the "special" Bloody Mary was the worst he's ever had--memorable, just not in a good way. On the positive side, the gluten-free coffee cake was excellent, and thankfully the company made the day worthwhile. My guess is there may have been an issue with our reservation. We made it in person previously and it was written in a notebook. When we called to confirm the day before, they initially couldn't find it. It felt like it might not have made it into the system, and they were trying to accommodate on the fly once they realized it. If that's the case, a little transparency upfront would have gone a long way--we would have appreciated the option to adjust our plans rather than end up waiting outside for so long. Overall, this felt like a series of misses and mishandled opportunities to improve the experience. It's also an excellent reminder of why I normally steer clear of dining out on holidays.
