I do love a milk stout...a good one is hard to find, especially in Omaha. So how excited was I when we dropped in for dinner on a Tuesday night to give their reuben a go only to find out the Pint Night special was Odell's new chocolate milk stout?! Reuben, beer, fried dill pickle chips, fries, service - all a win. Pre-Creighton basketball game, it gets a bit crowded and parking can be a bit tricky, but completely worth the search for parking space and wait for a table. There are 31 taps with one that is reserved for root beer. there were at least 138 different bottled beers as well. Talk about choices! They were the first to offer a mix and match six pack to go to my limited knowledge. It was/ is a business lunch and college night location. Creighton kids kicking my ass at foosball was something I got used to. Tuesday Pint night was the building blocks for my current glass ware. I've eat and drank here a few times recently and I've got so say the Crescent Moon is a better bar than it is a restaurant. Bartenders are knowledgeable and personable and can make a good drink/pour a good beer, but the wait staff and food seem to be very inconsistent, sometimes they are quick and friendly, and other times they seem to disappear and are not so great. For being a simple hot ham & cheese, it really surprised me with how good it was. The ham was of good quality and they pile it on. If you like beer, it is hard to believe that you haven't been to the Moon. If you haven't, you are missing out on an Omaha gem. Beer: The Crescent moon has one of the best beer selections in town (think Old Chicago selection but WAY more diverse.) They have something like 37 different beers on tap at any given time. Don't like beer?? You just haven't met the right beer yet. Ask the bartender to suggest something good. You won't be disappointed. Even most of the "off hours" bartenders did a good job at describing the beers. Did I mention the huge bottled beer selection? Bud Light Drinker... NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. Want a nice pint of BEER WITH TASTE? You have found your mark! Food: The food is the reason I did not give the Moon a full five starts. Their food is good, even great, but in the end, it is bar food. I am not saying the "bar food" is a bad thing because it is not. On the menu is your standard burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, salads, etc... Some standouts are the Reuben and the house Inferno Wings (don't let the title scare you... they really aren't super spicy.) The Moon also has some house made Dill Ranch that is quite good! Decor: The bar is decorated in everything beer with some black and white photos tossed in. There are some really cool vintage beer signs/neons along with your more modern neon's. Lots of details to look at. Don't miss the "wall o' tap handles." The moon has a large selection of former tap handles displayed on the wall. Check that out. Parking: If you are lucky you will get a spot right out front (probably on 5 or 6 spots.) If no parking is available there, you can park in the Mutual of Omaha parking lot (after business hours) and have a short, well lit, stroll up the hill. (Cool part about the Mutual of Omaha parking lot is that they have a security patrol that watches over the lots...) Tips: The Moon has nightly specials (the most popular being Pint Night and Wing Night.) If you go to Wing night, don't order more than you can eat because there are NO to go boxes (unless you bring your own!) The Moon is connected to Max and Joes (which is frequently rented out for private parties so be sure to look above the door for the reserved sign) and Huber-Haus (basement.) Both unique places, that add some variety to the bar. You can go from karaoke in the Moon to a German Polka band in the basement. If you are a beer fan, who happens to like some above par bar food to go with that beer, check out the Crescent Moon. When you have had your fill, drop by Beertopia and get some beer to go! This is the best pub reuben in Omaha. The story is that the reuben was invented at the Blackstone hotel across the street from the Crescent Moon. They live up to that legacy! Due to the covid outbreak, this review is limited to take out food only. I have had Reuben sandwiches at many restaurants but this one would be tough to beat. Update: Tuesday 3 am up very sick with food poisoning, I have stomach cramps and the runs. During their Oktoberfest Friday the 21st, I was served an uncooked brat. The center was pretty pink. I didn't realize it was uncooked until I ate half of it because it was pretty dark and I was in one of the tent. If anyone gets sick with food poisoning in around a week, that's probably why. Go see your doctor. I will be seeing mine this week. The worms/parasites from uncooked pork can cause anything from an upset stomach and digestion problems to death. They can burrow a hole in your brain if they pass outside your digestive tract. So yeah, I probably would not eat here again. read more

Crescesnt Moon is just 2 blocks away from my apartment. I decided to take a take a walk specifically to try the Reuben at the Crescent Moon after reading seeing their facebook page. The Reuben sandwich was purportedly invented directly across the street at the Blackstone Hotel. It was well worth the detour! The Crescent Moon itself is an eclectic, hip bar/restaurant serving an amazing selection of craft beer with delicious food. The Reuben itself exceeded even my wildest expectations, each layer of flavor carefully crafted with the finest marble rye, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, cheese, and big chunks of corned beef. Staff and regulars are pretty awesome people unless your being a pretentious dick then both regulars and employees will treat you the way they are being treated. Been on national TV a few times and their events are some of the best drinking festivals in the city. Crescent Moon has one of the best tap lists around, and the selections rotate with good regularity. If a beer is distributed to Omaha, it'll almost certainly make its way to Crescent Moon. That said, its a popular spot, so rarer or more exciting offerings are likely to disappear pretty quickly. Oh, and be sure to stop in on Tuesdays for Pint Night, where your first $6.50 beer gets you a themed glass, and all refills are $2.50 for the rest of the night. It's always a good time, and a great way to try some delicious beer cheap. Even if you're not there for Pint Night, the prices are pretty reasonable, or at least competitive with other craft beer bars.
