I highly recommend Dr. Fairweather!

I'd been struggling with…read moredepression and anxiety since I was 15, and now at 20 the consequences of these conditions were having a disastrous affect on my school performance. I went to this doctor because I needed help. I felt like an outsider looking in, trying but failing to be a Human Normal. I hated myself with fury and fire. And I didn't want to want to die, but I certainly longed for an eternal reprieve from the pain. So I went to a doctor. I was in school in Brooklyn but grew up in Texas, and as I was home for the holidays, I started seeing Dr. Alloju. I didn't know the far-reaching and indelible mark this would leave on my life, changing the course completely. I was a bright kid. I read constantly. A bit of a nerd. A writing major. I wanted to write plays and movies. But here's what happened instead: After talking to me for 45 minutes and barely listening, this woman diagnosed me as having Bipolar II Disorder. I wasn't that upset about it because I thought, well maybe she's right and maybe she can help me. Over the course of the next year, culminating in a near-death experience, I was put on these medications concurrently: Lamictal 400mg, Seroquel 350mg, Klonopin 2mg twice daily, and to cap it all off, Geodon 80mg. This is enough medication to sedate an obese elephant. I was 20 years old, 5'2 and 107 lbs. I had to drop out of college because I almost died from this demented drug cocktail. That was a long time ago and I'm still angry. I'm still angry that it took me 10 more years before I was properly diagnosed as ADHD and on the autism spectrum. I didn't need to be on those drugs. I just didn't. When I told her they weren't working, she'd just increase the dosages. Once, during a phone session, she said I sounded drunk and went a step further to label me as an alcoholic. I didn't really drink at the time; my words were slurred because of the sedating medication. The irony, of course, is that Dr. Alloju has multiple DUIs and was on some sort of probation while treating me. I only have flashbulb memories from an entire year of my life. Apparently I almost died from an overdose of these medications. It took many years to try and get my life back from this monster. This is all to say, this woman will destroy your mind, body, and spirit. And she almost ended my life. What she did to me was criminal. Not just malpractice, although it was also that, but it was a deeply immoral negligence and breach of trust. At least if she *had* killed me she might not be practicing to this day. Stay. Away.

Dr Perkins is a D.O. with a vast medical knowledge who has certification in diabetes, cardiology, addiction medicine. Prior to moving to Dr Perkins practice I was seeing numerous specialist for some ongoing medical issues. Dr Perkins has been able to reduce the number of medications I was taking and reduce the number of specialist as well. I am not a fan of the merger with Texas Health at all. I personally was not willing to use the Texas Health Hospitals after a bad personal experience. I have been encouraged to know that Dr Perkins has a long history with Grapevine Baylor and I have been able to continue using them for medical services as the need arises. In the event that I require admission Dr Perkins is no longer on staff with Baylor so I am passed onto one of the hospitalist but it works out. I just give the hospital the name of the hospitalist that Dr Perkins recommended. The staff at Dr Perkins office is very good about faxing over my medical records and alerting the hospitalist that I am being admitted. The office staff is some of the best Medical Assistance I have ever had the opportunity to meet. I have also been very happy with the Physician Assistant, P. Patel. I have multiple health issues and she has definitely impressed me. I have had the opportunity to see her on several occasions and she definitely knows her stuff. I am every bit as comfortable seeing her as I am Dr Perkins. My experiences have always been extremely positive and never have I felt that the care was anything but positive.

They lie telling you that you can use the phone when in-fact your phone is taken away and your only allowed to call for 15 min on Sunday and they listen to your conversation the whole time and if you say anything, they don't like they hang up the phone on you. They also call your family and lie to them. When you get mail, you don't get it until a week or so later, they hold onto that without giving it to you when it first gets there. They also put a lady in the middle of the circle of other ladies and be rate her and put her down until she's crying. One lady was not allowed to talk for days because something I'm not sure but supposedly she talked too much or something so they would not allow her to speak for days after that. I was in there because I was taking prescription medication's for pain for 20 years and I needed someplace to be able to get off of these medication's. I was very ill and they refused to take me to the hospital. I asked to leave they said if I left, they would not give him my phone and I couldn't call anybody. I would have to go to the they would take me and drive me to the outside gate of their property and I'd basically be out in the country on my own. Finally, I was able to go to the hospital and when I did go, I had inflammation around my heart and different other health issues because I have health problems also so at that point I was admitted to the medical hospital for a week then I checked out of Stonegate and didn't go back. My legs and feet were so swollen. I couldn't even walk. They also overcharged me for my initial payment that my husband had to pay that they said was my out-of-pocket when I got a hold of my insurance I really only had to pay a lot less than what they charged me, which I never got that money back. They lock you out of your rooms during meal times and you have to ask to go to the bathroom. They unlock the door for you to go to the bathroom and then lock it when you come out. You're also not allowed to sit on the furniture unless they're doing their nightly AA and na meeting. You also have to fill out papers at night to say what you've done wrong in different things like that. You can't say that you've done anything right so it's pretty much putting yourself down all the time I would advise against going here. It's a very unsafe for your health and for your mental physical and emotional and spiritual well-being maybe it's changed now, but it sure wasn't a few years ago. Don't go here they are very mean and deceptive people who worked there a few years ago. Like I said not sure how it is now but id never send anyone there

Yesterday morning, I was supposed to start a new job, then BAM, panic attack. I was unable to start the new job. After sobbing for a few hours, I decided to research mental health facilities. I decided that this cannot continue, that I desperately need help. I came upon the website for Texas Health Springwood Behavioral Health Hospital. I searched the website for any information regarding financial assistance, as I don't have health insurance. To my surprise, I found a link titled "financial assistance", and a teensy glimmer of hope began to build. I opened the link and read more about it. I finally worked up the nerve to call the free assessment number(my fellow anxiety sufferers know how hard this can be), and spoke with a helpful gentleman that set an appointment for me for that afternoon. I showed up for the assessment, still with that small glimmer of hope that I may actually get some help. That I may be able to actually start living my life again. When asked what brought me into the facility, I opened with "hopefully I'm not wasting my time, but I saw on the website that financial assistance is available...and due to my debilitating anxiety, I'm unable to hold a job and don't have insurance." At that point, the assessment began. It went well, albeit I was quite upset/panicked due to the fact that it's hard to be vulnerable and talk about very personal issues. The two ladies that assessed me(forgive me, I don't recall their names) were professional and compassionate. After the assessment, they both left the room to evaluate my answers and determine what type of treatment would be best. When they returned, they recommended a program for me and then informed me that the facility "does NOT offer financial assistance" and that I'm "not the only person to say they've seen that on the website". This totally devastated me. To get someone's hopes up, only to be crushed, is cruel no matter the circumstances(mentally healthy or not). To be clear, I don't hold either of these caring ladies responsible. They did print out a few counseling resources near me and seemed genuinely apologetic. However, it is irresponsible for the website to have a link titled FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, containing information regarding FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE if they do not truly offer it. They should be ashamed of themselves. Screenshots of link/information:

From the Breville espresso maker to the grand piano in the living room, or the putting green out back and egg smoker on the deck. And it's situated in the warm niche neighborhood of Lakewood, right in Swiss Avenue in the heart of Dallas. The area is like a small borough in NYC, where you can see the beautiful skyline as you walk to anywhere you need to go, like trendy and quality restaurants, spa treatments, haircuts, banks, even the gym which they provide memberships for clients. Location is important because it puts residents in close proximity to a ton of people in recovery, and different recovery meetings nearby. There are several A.A., NA, Dharma, and SMART recovery meetings nearby, and weekly they have an NA meeting and a Dharma recovery meeting at the house which are both excellent and well attended. But the really precious thing about Elements is the people. The residents are all highly motivated towards recovery and supportive of one another. The house manager is vigilant and committed to keeping residents on track. Drug testing weekly and breathalyzers every night. He also coordinates and participates in community service events like feeding the homeless. The Sober Coach is one of the best in the country. He is instrumental in reframing the situation as it applies to each individual and their long term recovery goals. He helps with relationships and communication with loved ones and advocates for the residents. He leads outreach ventures eg to maximum security prisons and includes residents in these outings. The Life Coach is one of the smartest people I've ever met. She helps residents with everything from the simple tasks of linking bank accounts where they need to go, to formalizing and updating their resumes and doing interview prep. And all of them are networked all over DFW and can get the resident in front of of exactly the right people to achieve their objectives. I've seen residents come through here and transform their lives for the better, improving their relationships, education, and career opportunities. It's a beautiful thing to see the positive transformation that occurs during a resident's time at Elements and working with the team. Highest rating. I could not endorse more emphatically. Five Stars. I sincerely appreciate this place, these people, and what they do.
