This past weekend I flew to Crescent City to visit a friend. I wanted to satisfy my Clam Chowder craving when I first got to town but was disappointed by the first restaurant we went to for the chowder. So, I opened my Yelp app and found Crescent Seafood. Crescent Seafood is at the Crescent City marina AND it's within walking distance of several hotels and motels. Crescent Seafood is a restaurant and a fresh fish market. I liked that there was a sign outside their front door letting their customers know that due to the crappy crab season we had certain crab items may be limited. This place seems to be steadily busy on both sides and the staff is really friendly. The restaurant was clean and quaint. The fish market side was clean, tidy, and their prices were fair. The restaurant is self seating and you order and pay at the register. I ordered a Crab Melt, yes, the crab was fresh, and a bowl of clam chowder, all to go. The Clam Chowder was BEYOND delicious! What I got was the full order of fish and chips (light on the chips...er, fries), about 5 to 6 ounces of clam chowder (comparable to Progresso's clam chowder...not the quality expected), and half a deviled egg. If I hadn't been staying at Jedediah Smith SP, I would have gone back and asked either for my money back or for the full order for which I paid. Really disgusted. Amazing place right on the Docks, and after driving 8 hours on the day this hit the spot. Not only was the food amazing and fresh but they even stayed open past the posted closing time without missing a beat. Cioppino top 3 all time (have eaten up and down the coast), spicy calamari (not special but cooked perfectly and spiced righteously) finally the fish and chips (cod was dialed and fried to flaky perfection). Creamy with loads of clams and a nice smokey flavor. They have an extensive menu and we were looking forward to trying all of it, just didn't get the chance this trip. COVID protocols were on point. We bought some nice smoked salmon to bring home. We shared three entrees, the steamed clam appetizer and cups of clam chowder, all because we just couldn't choose one! Everything was absolutely delicious and we had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. We got there around 4 pm and it was rather quiet, but shortly after it got so busy they ran out of food by 5:30 and had to turn dozens of customers away. We'll be back soon. Yesterday, a fellow manager and I took our boss out to lunch..... After waiting for over an hour...... The Clam Chowder was Sour and it was therefore sent back. The waitress apologized stating that the last several shipments of the Packages of Clam Chowder were "cracked" when they received them and that's why the Chowder was Sour. Therefore, they Do Not make their own Clam Chowder and they knew that the Chowder shouldn't have been served. When the waitress poured my boss a glass of water, the water was filled with 100's of bits of tissue paper. Somehow a napkin or a tissue had gotten mixed into the waitress's water pitcher. The Fish & Chips: the fish tasted and looked dirty it could not have possibly been made of Cod as the menu stated, and it was over breaded. The Chips/fries were good. The Coconut Prawns were good but it was slathered in Pepper Sauce. It would have been nice if the Customer could have dipped the Shrimp into the Pepper Sauce as they desired, instead of the sauce was heavily slathered all over the Coconut Shrimp. ( a side cup of sauce would have been preferable). The Grilled Steal Head Salmon with Gouda Sauce and a side of Grits: The Salmon was Over Cooked and very greasy. The grits were actually a Polenta Cake; greasy and not palatable. The Gouda Sauce was watery and not at all flavorful in any way. The Asparagus and Sweet Potato Chips were dry and slightly burned from overcooking on the grill. When I went to the cash register in order to pay for the bill, the cashier excused herself and then went to wipe off a table. After she wiped off the table she came back to the cash register and finally allowed me to pay for this Very Disappointing meal. This meal was not worth paying for at all, and we even talked about how LAUGHABLY TERRIBLE that it was, the next day at the office. Im very disappointed. It could have been so good, but it truly wasn't. My fellow manager, as well as my boss, criticized me for leaving a $6.00 tip. They were right, I shouldn't have left any tip. read more

We ordered fish & chips, shrimp scampi, and two orders of seafood pasta primavera to go. The gal that took our order said it would be a thirty minute wait (though the restaurant looked slow). That was fine, so we killed some time by taking in the scenery around. We picked up our food within thirty minutes. However, we didn't get one of our seafood pasta primavera. When hubby and daughter picked up the food, my daughter was told by the cashier saying, "she overcharged us for one of the orders and refunded the charge back to the credit card." Puzzled, not sure why she "overcharged " us when we paid exactly for what we ordered. Anyhow, we only got three of the four orders. Guess this restaurant takes it upon themselves to cancel whatever orders they want or perhaps they ran out of the pasta for the dish. This place is a little out of the way but if you happen to find it, it has good seafood. I stopped by to pick up a few tacos as a snack. I ended up getting the fish taco ( which was cod I believe ) and the tiger shrimp taco. Both were seasoned nicely with their house blend that I suspect has some sort of Cajun and sweet spice as both were a little sweet for my liking.
