I never bother to rate places where we stop for gas and a snack but I had to comment on the best fried chicken I have ever had two days ago on our way home from Oregon. CHESTERS CHICKEN TO GO at this Pem Mey Fuel Mart in Klamath. It was chicken strips with a light NON GREASY coating and very thick clean pieces of white meat inside! No chicken strips I have ever tasted had such good meat inside. The restroom was clean and friendly staff at the register. Oh, and the biscuit with the chicken was also very good!!! read more

Gas station is great, and so are the pumps... however i went to get chesters chicken and i was rudely surprised by sadie. She informed me that there werent any tenders and yelled at her coworker using curse words and profanity aksing when they would be done. I immediately said thank you and walked out. read more

This place is an oasis. We had just finished a grueling two hour hike nearby and we're seeking some cold drinks and salty snacks. This place really hit the spot. Gas prices were pretty reasonable as well considering most places are over five dollars right now per gallon. read more

Pem Mey Fuel Mart is an oasis along U.S. 101. There is not much around this area. Stopped in here to refuel the rental vehicle. I started the morning in McKinleyville, CA and got to Klamath, CA mid afternoon. After refueling, I went inside the attached convenience store to get a couple bottles of cold water, make a "Bio Break" and use the so-called "Free" WiFi. The WiFi never worked the time I was there. This is a well-maintained, convenient station along a somewhat isolated stretch of the 101. Getting gas here was absolutely necessary to get us back to Arcata, so I'm so glad we encountered the very optimally-located Pem Mey! There aren't very many pumps, but the station was spacious, clean, accessible, and easy to maneuver. In addition to having a tidy and well-stocked self-service area to wipe your windows, the station also has a convenience store offering snack, coffee, and fast food options. There is also a casino and hotel (Redwood Hotel and Casino) not too far away that has a full service bar and restaurant. This is a great place to fuel up, stretch your legs, and grab a snack along your drive. Stop in and support a quality business owned and operated by the Yurok Tribe! read more

5-4-24: Their pump charged me $250.00 for a fill up, normal fill up about $70.00, but the wrong charge was not shown at the pump. I only found out about it later in the day from the bank. When I called the merchant, as suggested by the bank, they appeared to not be interested and refused to do anything about it. read more

I stopped by today (11-14-23), to get gas & chicken. I walked in a seen two employees assisting customers. I stood in what I thought was the line. When the customer in front of me was finished, The male cashier looked me in my face, turned his head and called a customer from the other line. This action was completely unacceptable. I was never told there was onle one line, no signs were posted with instructions. So I asked the clerk who simply stated "yea". Management should be aware how customer are rudly treated at this establishment! Both clerk displayed unprofessionism. Good price on fuel and its conveniently located off the 101. Easy to get in and out of and they offer diesel as well as regular. I cannot speak to the interior of the facility because I did not enter. read more

Truly don't understand how you can walk into a gas station and see 7 employees standing around doing nothing when the music is so loud you can't hear yourself. Wish they would have at least been dancing because it was the most off putting environment. Management need to get it together. read more

Pem Mey Fuel Mart is a business owned by the Yurok tribe of Northern California. I try and make it a point to make a stop at this gas station to help support a cool Yurok business. This gas station has free wi-fi. There's also a nice display inside with a 3-D layout map of the northern California coast and Yurok Country. Inside there is a coffee shop (Kee-Ya Espresso), and a Subway restaurant. There is also your usual mini-mart offerings, as well as some "Native gear" if you need to stock up. read more

If you like fried chicken, you'll love this stop. Since I don't eat the stuff, I can't tell you if the fried chicken is any good. However, I can see that this would be a great option for food considering the lack of immediate food options in the area. The fried chicken seemed pretty popular. Plenty of people in the gas station buying fried chicken, gas or other goods. The place is well stocked. Very convenient for gas. It is also the only reasonable gas station around for miles. We also tried the adjoining Kee-Ya Espresso for coffee. Iced coffee one day was great, but the coffee we bought the next morning wasn't. But there isn't a lot of choice in that department for miles either. read more

Very nice gas station in the middle of nowhere. Very happy this gas station is here - if it wasn't, I don't know that there are other stations within miles of this stretch of highway. I only knock it to four stars due to higher prices, though it makes sense since you are in the middle of nowhere. An added bonus is the playground and basketball court (with balls!) across the street - my toddler and I had a great time stretching our legs while on a long drive. read more

We stopped at PEM-MEY on a Sunday in September. We had a check engine light on our diesel RV. The employees were awesome, they let us borrow the phone to call roadside assistance. While I was trying to get through on the phone, one of the employees, Logan, was able to figure out the problem and fixed it for us. He is an awesome young man, he saved our vacation. Employees have nasty attitudes and are incredibly rude. As if we, the customers are making them go out of their way to do their jobs. Its not our fault y'all chose to put a single window to serve everyone out of. So sorry you have to do a little bit of work. Boo hoo. Employees are disrespectful, rude and very unprofessional. The prices are way too high. Highway robbery and you don't even get a smile spending all that money with them. I will give credit where it's due. The place is very clean and convenient seeing as its the only store in 20 miles.
