This place is wonderful. We stopped by on our way to the slopes at Homewood. The gals in there were amazing. Friendly and accommodating. My son got a bagel and cream cheese. The bagel was toasted perfectly. I got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The croissant was really good, puffy with lots of layers. We will be going there in the future. read more

I love stopping by here right before a snowboarding session at Alpine Meadows. The staff is friendly and they even would change the channel for you if you wanted to check out a game on their tv. I always order the Bomb Sando (it's like a BLT but they add an egg and instead of regular lettuce they use arugula, then the bread comes with a pesto cream cheese spread). It tastes even better if you sprinkle a little Tabasco on it. I haven't tried anything else from their menu because I am so hooked on their Bomb Sando. It's a great way to start a day on the slopes. I have to come back sometime in the future and check out their happy hour sushi. It sounds tasty by just reading the menu. I will update my review once I have tried their rolls. read more

I've been coming here for almost 15 years, it's sad to see the quality of food and the attitude of the employees go downhill so fast. This place is dirtier than ever and it's just completely falling behind the times their food was the only thing keeping them relevant and that too is falling behind. Went for sushi night. The food was fine (not great) but the atmosphere was loud, mosquitoes were prevelant and biting because the cafe keeps the back sliding door open with no screen, one waiter for orders, payment, and serving. . . who touches the money then the dinner plates. Dog in and out (not sanitary) and restrooms are porta potties outside! Yuck. read more

My wife and I loved visiting Crest Cafe today! Such a cute little spot, with great food and friendly service. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to know the owners, who clearly care for their guests. I had the French dip sandwich and my wife had the brunch burrito. Both great choices to keep you warm on a ski day. Cool little spot out of the way. Take a seat outside, enjoy the natural scenery and the sound of the Truckee River and have nice ice cold beer. Ohhhh, Also they don't have indoor restrooms, you'll have to use their Port-A-Potty. Don't worry, this was the cleanest outhouse I'be ever seen with air conditioning and running water. Not that I was excited about a portable toilet but it surrrrre in the hell helps if your like me and not like using public restrooms. read more

The food is mediocre at best and when offered constructive criticism, their response is that they've been "doing it this way for 14 years". Just because you've been doing something for 14 years does not make it good or without room for improvement! If you're not willing to consider change, improve, flow with the the changing world and customer base around you... then best of luck for the next 14. They DO serve a certain customer, but a lot of their success hinges on location. Like a lot of the other mediocre places in the Tahoe City - Squaw area. They also have a charge on card charges that don't meet their minimum. I think passing this on to customers is tacky and unfortunately their staff are the ones who take a cut - if I'm required to pay their fee, I usually tip less. read more

This place was suggested to us by a local surf shop in Tahoe City. We finished a nice trek to Five lakes, and came here for lunch. Such a great place. They have a deck with a great view as well. All the food we ordered was out of the world. We started with a bagel with the garlic herb cream cheese. This was the first time my parents were having bagel, and it was so good. Asian Tri-tip Mango Wrap was super light and crunchy, and the mango sauce was abundant (but great). The veggie sandwich was perfectly crunchy, buttery, and the cheese and veggies went so well with each other. And finally, we had the veggie quesadilla - the first time that quesadilla wasn't soggy, and the taste of garlic just lifted the whole experience. All in all, the food was super great, and very light :) Will definitely go back there when I visit Tahoe. read more

Try the pizzas. My go-to is the BBQ chicken. The quesadillas, sandwiches and cafe specialities are kick ass. It's nice to sip a beer on the deck by the Truckee River (when it's flowing) but the vibe inside is just as good. The staff is friendly, have a bunch of good tips on fun things to do in the region. Love coming here after a ski day at Alpine Meadows and grabbing a special and a beer from the tap. read more

There is no need to pay tips; you order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. The food choices are wraps, pizza, salads, and so forth. After a family-fun bike ride along the Truckee River, this was a great spot to stop and enjoy lunch on the patio. Sunny deck, delicious food and uber-friendly service. Couldn't ask for much else. Got a tip from a local biker to skip out on River Ranch (the patio was closed for a private event anyway) and come here for way less $$ which was just a driveway down outside of the Alpine Valley village. Glad we ran into her, she was right on. For a tiny cafe, they have a great selection of paninis, wraps and salads. My BBQ ranch chicken wrap was awesome, and it came with chips and salsa vs. potato chips which was a nice variety. My dad's cobb salad looked great, as well as the chili which was served with a crostini...nice gourmet touch. Even my little niece's grilled cheese was something I would order - on thick panini bread and with sharp cheddar. I would have insisted we stay longer and grab a pitcher of beer on the deck, although we needed to get the bikes back to town. Service was super-friendly (both the cashier and the cook in the back came out to say hey.) Will be back for the chicken wrap and that pitcher of beer next time around. read more

The service wasn't stellar (the place was near empty, yet they were short with me and there was an absence of friendliness), the food didn't really stand out as exceptional (Italian panini was just "so, so"), and the portions were scanty (I received maybe three forkfuls of pasta salad - are times so tough that you need to skimp on the pasta salad???). I've been working remotely over at the at the Tahoe Mill Collective work-space next door for the summer and I've been frequenting Crest Cafe for about a month now. This place is terrific! I highly recommend it. Everything about Crest Cafe is fantastic - the food, the ambiance, the service, and the view of the river with outdoor seating - it's all wonderful! The food here is all fresh, homemade, and high quality. You can tell they take pride in each meal (unlike some touristy spots in downtown Truckee). They've got a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and even sushi on Thursdays. There are plenty of options for drinks too, from Kombucha to a nice selection of quality beers. My favorite menu items are the "Decision Maker" french dip (best french dip I've ever had!), the BBQ ranch chicken wrap, the philly cheesesteak, and the pizza combo with salad. With each meal, you get a nice selection of sides too - I always go with chips and salsa because the chips are fresh and I love that. I've never had anything but friendly service and absolutely delicious fare from Crest Cafe. I've literally been to this place about 20 times in the last month and my food has always been perfect - never cold - they literally never have an "off" day - consistently delicious every single time. They even have wifi, which makes working remotely not so bad, while enjoying a beer overlooking the river :-). read more

A simple café with good food and a great view of the Truckee River. On warm days, it's great to sit on the deck. You don't get the entertainment of the rafters like you do at River Ranch, but you also don't get the crowds. This is a quiet and laid-back place that serves good food, yummy chili, and has a very good selection of beer and other drinks. Their Thursday-night sushi is very good. They have a few particularly tasty spicy rolls. They also do very good breakfast sandwiches. I've never had a problem with the service, but it's not a full-featured restaurant. Me and my boyfriend came to Squaw Valley for a weekend. He found Crest Cafe on Yelp. The guy at the counter was so nice and recommended that we try the Breakfast Pizza. It is just the size for one and it definitely fills you up! The food came within 15 minutes or less. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast ! read more

I've been in here at least a dozen times and I'm totally done with this place. The service varies from incompetent to non-existent. Worst of all, at least one of the staff members is just downright unfriendly. I lived in Tahoe for a long time, but moved a few years ago. So, I know about the TFF and the slower pace of live there. This place can't use that excuse. It's one thing to be slow, it's another to just downright ignore people and not even have some common courtesy. At first I thought it was a "local" thing. Unfortunately, my friends who live there say the same thing about this place. Some things we discussed: don't be surprised if you're ignored because they're too busy talking on the phone to take your order, be prepared to pour your own beer if necessary, don't expect a hello or even a thank you, god forbid you get a response if you thank them, don't be surprised if your order is wrong too. There's just no excuse for this. They have an awesome location right at the entrance to the Alpine Meadows access road, which makes it the perfect place to stop in for breakfast and/or coffee before you hit the hill in the winter. It's a great little lunch spot too. The food, once you get passed the service, is pretty good also. There are also a bunch of big windows and an awesome deck overlooking the Truckee River. Everything about this place is spot on, except the staff; and it shows in the fact that this place should be packed every morning but isn't. It's really sad. I know the sacrifices that people make in order to live in Tahoe; and as a result, I love supporting local businesses, being friendly to the staff, and taking very good care of them when it comes time to tip. However, there's no excuse for this level of unfriendliness and incompetence. So, I'm done with this place and will happily take my business elsewhere. read more

Somehow they consistently get my order wrong and when they get it right the food is nothing to talk about. Thank you to the entire team for rocking the Catering and coordinating the equipment set up for our Wedding (Venue: Gatekeepers Museum, Tahoe City)! In my first engagement price quotes with Crest Catering, Lisa was VERY quick on the replies with helpful information to understand if they would be a fit on both price and great quality. She was so easy to work with from the start which held true through wedding day. The tasting session was spot on as she helped us make adjustments to our taste buds alongside Kyle. Crest Cafe and Catering went above and beyond in each interaction. Lisa walked me through any changes, rationale, etc. Especially on wedding day with a few adjustments that needed to be made, they did them quick and professionally. Important part: The food was GREAT! We heard from many of our guests that they LOVED the food. We were even sent with the left overs which we had tonight hosting the kick off of football season.YUMMY!! We did tri tip steak carving station with a yummy mushroom chicken, mixed veggies that were grilled perfectly (not soggy!), fingerling potatoes and probably other yummy stuff I'm forgetting... Two things I can point out about their service: 1) during our post ceremony pictures the staff came out to ensure we got some of the cocktail hour appetizers. They even left some at our sweetheart table just in case. 2) Lisa made a point to grab myself and my now husband as soon as the food was ready and insisted we stop to eat. I've met many couples that got so wrapped up mingling that they did not get a chance to eat. So that was a VERY nice touch. - And again, the food was great. Crest Cafe, thank you for making our special day extra special! We sincerely ENJOYED every part of our wedding day. I frequent the Crest Cafe for lunch, and have always loved their great sandwiches and terrific variety. When it came time to hire a caterer for my company event, I decided to give them a shot. Lisa and her crew did an outstanding job with the meal. They were on time, had everything they needed, provided great service throughout the 4-course dinner buffet, and were super efficient and tidy during the clean-up and break down. The apps were delicious and passed with a smile. For dinner, the filet was prepared perfectly (which is hard to do for a big group), and the dessert was to die for (apple strudel a la mode). Everyone loved the meal and raved about how impressive the whole event was, which was in a huge part due to the efforts of Lisa and the Crest Cafe Caterers. We got the take out "skiers lunch" and it was the worst sandwich I've ever had. We bought 4 sandwiches and only one had real slices of meat. The other three didn't even have a full slice.
