    The To Go Thai Peanut Noodle Salad
    Steve A.

    Cafe located in New Moon in Tahoe City. It has fresh made and some grab and go items. Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen is good for fast eating and snacks. Lots of vegan friendly foods. They can be slow at times. It can take a long time to make something fresh. Maybe get something from the grab and go if you're in a hurry. They have a lot of convenient things like salads and sandwiches. Prices aren't bad. They're typical of many organic markets, which are higher than many things at regular grocery stores, but with good prices on some things. Cafe opens after the rest of the store opens. They close before the rest of the store closes, so if you can't make it at that time you can get something from the grab and go section. It has a very delicious Thai peanut noodle salad that's great to eat while going out and about. There's also healthy things like falafel and hummus. Go here and grab a few to go items. It can take a long time at the counter to get stuff. The cafe is good for gluten free and vegans.

    Thai Coconut Noodle Bowl and Watermelon - ginger juice.

    Quick stop on the way in to Granlibakken resort. Its on the same road. Great natural food store. Had a watermelon-ginger juice (included the rind) and a thai coconut bowl with gluten-free rice noodles. Delish. All for under $10. I might go again to pick up snacks on the way to the airport!

    They are in the back of New Moon Natural Foods. They have house-made bread that is sometimes still hot out of the oven. Here's the Oatmeal Molasses Whole Wheat: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/uncommon-kitchen-tahoe-city?select=Lcd-4tkaDRgyYdv81zhJ3g#Lcd-4tkaDRgyYdv81zhJ3g I tried the vegan Tiramisu: :meh. It's more like a date-flavored mud pie, so, really, not anything even remotely like Tiramisu. But, the house made kombucha is consistently outstanding.

    Muffletta = fantastic!

    It all started with their falafel salad. Holy moly! I dream about this thing. The crispy falafel, the tangy and sweet dressing, the mixed greens. Yum! Then I just had to try the muffaletta, I tried to stop at 1/2 but it kept staring at me, reminding me with it's lovely baked baguette how tasty it was. Needless to say, I devoured the whole thing. There are so many more things on the menu that I need to try not to mention daily specials that always pique my interest. But how does one stray from the tastiness mentioned above?

    This is one of my favorite places in Tahoe. I'm a huge hippie, big on organic food and better when its made in an organic store! :) Fish tacos have this spice to it that reminds me of indian cuisine. I think its cumin, but whatever it tasted awesome! And the dish was such a generous amount of fish for the price served on two soft tacos. We also ordered the pad thai, which to our surprise was pleasant!! Generous noodles and delicious taste! It was incredible! Homemade koumbacha is a must. And thai ice tea with almond milk is amazing too. Not overly sweet. We've tried numerous other things not on the hot area. Coconut tapioca is a must have dessert. If you like coconut and boba like things, this dessert is a must. Its a bit sweet, but hits the spot. We also like the Chia dessert, reminds us of indian pudding. It has a unique taste, which may or may not be for everyone. Thai noodle salad is great on the go for a hike (exactly what we did), lentil salad has also a exotic indian taste and udon salads are great too! We really like this place. It's also awesome that you can pick up a few things when you're there from the store too.

    The service is adequate on a good day, but the food is always "wow". If the kitchen is closed, try the prepackaged items in the deli cold case; you won't be disappointed. There are plenty of wholesome options for vegans, vegetarians, GF, omnivores and everything in between. We've never had a bad meal there. Strict vegans should pay attention to the ingredient lists, though. Honey is listed as an ingredient in a few of the cold case items that are labelled "vegan". A few picnic tables are located outside, too, but your best bet is picking up to-go items and eating along the lake or the Truckee river nearby when the weather permits.

    This vegan sandwich was so dang good! As was the spring roll

If a patron tells you they lost their credit card it's likely they're in distress. And if someone is looking unhappy (or just seems that way) it could simply be that circumstances "caught up to them" on that one or two days you saw them in your store. Treating them like shit because they're in trouble is aweful in my opinion. Just one person there doing that, but she seems to be everywere there. Definitely not cool. Not the owner/manager. That person seems very professional, efficient and smart. Great place, but don't expect to think they care about you even if you spend a lot of money and keep to yourself. Not all of us are able to relax and have fun. Some of us, through no fault of our own, are in need of food and a break and a place to figure our next moves. The service was…read moregreat, the food was amazing, and the live music and lively atmosphere lent to the amazing experience we had. This place is busy for a reason and the wait is worth it. We came in as Walk-ins and despite the fact that there were 17 parties on the reservation list before us, we still were able to be seated and within 25 minutes. Our server Caroline was quick to get our orders in and as first time visitors, she made excellent suggestions to make our night unforgettable. To start, we had two drinks off the menu, the Whiskey Mango Foxtrot and the Spicy Cucumber Mar-tini. Both were excellent, and the marg-tini had an especially good japalepeno kick, which is what I was looking for. We're normally old fashion kind of drinkers but the Whiskey Mango Foxtrot had excellent flavor and was well balanced, with what tasted like a Tajin mango. The real star of the show was the food though. The server wasn't joking when she said the nachos are best shared with two people, and I even opted for the guacamole. The carnitas were buttery tender and the cheese sauce tasted gourmet and incredibly flavorful. I definitely recommend these! They were probably some of the best nachos I've had, and this is coming from someone that's lived in Santa Barbara for 5 years! Next up was the burrito bowl, and the first thing that comes to mind is: generous! We're used to spending $25 an entree in the city and still leaving the restaurant hungry, but not here. The chips were fresh and crispy and truly taste hand made. The birria beef was amazing and tender and flavorful, and the pickled onions and vinegar sauce was the chefs kiss on an altogether amazing dish. We're so glad to have finally made it over here! Bottom line, this restaurant is worth checking out if you're in the area. It's packed with locals every night, but don't let the long wait times dissuade you, they under-promise and over deliver. These are the best drinks and food with Mexican flare this side of the Sierras, and will become a staple during our visits to the area. If you appreciate good food, drinks, and an amazing mountain atmosphere, you owe it to yourself to put Shadyside Lounge on your short list of places to try, I know I did and the only regret I have is not coming here sooner!

Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully put together. We ordered two encharitos, one with the beef birria and one with the chicken. Both were fantastic, but if you're deciding between the two, get the beef birria. The enchilada sauce is absolutely to die for, and the rich, tender beef put it over the top. The carnitas burrito was incredibleeeee. It was packed with the perfect ratio of carnitas, beans, rice, and all the fixings, so every bite had a little bit of everything. The carnitas were cooked perfectly. It was super tender with great flavor and seasoning. I'm already craving it again. We also started with the guacamole, which was fresh, chunky, and generously portioned. For drinks, we had the House Margarita, the Scratch Cadillac, and the Smoking Gun. The margaritas were refreshing and well-balanced, but a little light on the tequila. The Smoking Gun, on the other hand, had a great spirit-to-flavor ratio. It's definitely smoky (as the name suggests), so if you're a mezcal fan, you'll probably love it (like me!). Service was great. Our waitress was young, incredibly sweet, attentive, and happy to accommodate a few special requests. Just be prepared to wait. It's a small restaurant that's clearly popular, and for good reason. The atmosphere is cute and lively, though it does get pretty loud. That didn't bother me at all, but it's worth mentioning if you're looking for a quieter dinner.
