Located in a strip mall, so it really does not "say" much from the outside. Inside is a large pub feel with tables along with a nice 20 seat bar. There are plenty of TVs to watch the sporting event of your choice. There are about 20 beers on tap, so the selection is quite nice. I had the steak and Guinness pie with fries. The meat was nice and tender and the gravy was very flavorful The gravy was perfect with the fries. Nice locals place with good food. Not much more you could want. read more

This was a great place to have dinner! I grew up in a British household, and this felt like a taste of home. It's a low lit restaurant, located in a strip mall, so don't let the outside fool you for what you are walking into, a homely feeling British pub. The drinks were delicious, I had orange blossom cocktail, which was tasty and refreshing, especially coming back from an afternoon at the beach. I had Scotch Egg, for an appetizer, which I have never heard of before and it probably will be a one-time thing, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't come here for appetizers anyways. For dinner, I had the Shepherds Pie that was phenomenal, flavorful and piping hot and my wife had their award winning Fish N' Chips, which she really enjoyed. They give you generous portions with your Entrees which you can always appreciate from an establishment. The customer service was on point! Very attentive and polite, especially for them being busy. They have live music, and I was impressed with the artist cover song he preformed. Most places I've gone to with live music always seems distracting to the atmosphere, which this place you were singing along while you it. All-in-all, if my British tastes buds flare up again, I will be coming back to get my fix. The only thing that was missing, was Yorkshire Puddin's. That is a TRUE staple in British households. What a wonderful atmosphere during the World Cup - despite being completely packed the serving team were quick and efficient and the food was at the same high standard. Call out to Tanya who made sure everyone was looked after. It's a great place to watch sports - every seat at every table has a view of several TV's. I'm English and it's always wonderful to go and get some good English food. The fish and chips are awesome. The fish is crispy on the outside and flaky and soft in the middle and the portions are great. read more

If I could give this place 0/5 stars, I would -- COCKROACHES. BEWARE. We stopped in on a Sunday night with a party of seven plus a stroller. The hostess initially tried to seat us at a table meant for 4-6 people, and only after we said that wouldn't work did they move two tables together. The restaurant was extremely loud -- to the point you couldn't even hear the person next to you. I understand football was on, but the volume was excessive. We were told the restaurant had just had its grand reopening, yet they were already out of most of the beers listed on their menu. When I tried to take my baby to the restroom for a diaper change, I discovered there was no changing station in the women's bathroom. I asked a nearby waitress if there was one elsewhere or if they could help accommodate us somewhere inside since it was pouring rain outside. She simply said no. I ended up having to change my baby in the back of our car -- and we weren't the only table there with an infant. The final straw -- and what made me cancel my meal entirely -- was when a giant cockroach crawled right up to our table. When I say giant, I mean huge -- about the size of my 2.5-month-old baby's foot. Someone at our table killed it, and when we notified the manager, she was completely unfazed. Her response: "It's a palmetto bug... it's raining, this is Florida. That's common." Any restaurant that claims cockroaches inside are "common" is a red flag. I told the manager to cancel my meal because I would not eat there. The table behind us, who also saw the roach, left before ordering. When closing out the tab, the manager initially refused to remove the meal I had canceled and falsely claimed that I had cursed at a waitress about the lack of a changing table -- which never happened. Overall, this place was loud, poorly managed, unaccommodating to families, and, most importantly, unsanitary. If that's what the front of house looks like, I can only imagine the state of the kitchen. Stay far away. read more

Nice size portion and the fish (I had haddock) was amazing, along with the homemade tartar sauce. The Cole slaw was delicious as well! They were very busy but the service was still good. A simple quesadilla was served soggy, uneven, and practically inedible. Jose, the chef, lacked attention to detail. The food was sent back. No one in the restaurant really seemed to care that it was an edible. Highly unlikely that we will be back . Disappointing. There are much better choices in the Dunedin area. read more

Went for dinner and to sit at the bar which was full, we were going to sit at the rail on the upper part until seats opened at the bar and were yelled at that we couldn't sit up there because it was reserved. The soccer game wasn't going to start for another 2 hours. We just want to hang out somewhere until seats opened at the bar. After being yelled at we decided to leave. I listen, I know that British food doesn't necessarily have the best reputation for being exciting and/or delicious but this place does a terrific job with your standard English food. Authentic shepherds pie, fish, and chips, Cornish pasty - all very very good. Cricketers fish and chips was delicious The pub is located inside a strip mall so parking is fairly simple When I went it was spur of the moment on a Saturday night, and they are a popular spot so waiting 20 minutes for a table is totally understandable. Thankfully there was some bar space so we opt for that. It was a bit noisy but not so bad you couldn't hold a conversation at a reasonable level. Our bartenders/servers were super kind and helpful for a couple of first timers. Sadly, they were out of the scotch eggs this evening, but I went with the fish and chips and it hit the spot! My friend went with the bangers and mash and I didn't hear any complaints there either The cocktail menu had a few I wanted to try but went with the berry bash and that was refreshing! In our first visit to Cricketers British Pub, we entered at 5:30 pm and found that every table inside was in use or reserved (large Meet-up group, birthday party, etc.). It was incredibly loud, and we nearly left. But we decided to be seated at one of the unreserved tables on the sidewalk just outside the front door. We are glad we made that decision. While the scenery left much to be desired (looking out at a strip mall parking lot!), we found it much more serene than the hectic yelling and screaming inside. And two things made our experience a very good one. First and foremost, our waitress (Marisa T) was outstanding! She was prompt and attentive. She didn't rush us to make a decision as we looked at the menu, but she was there immediately once we had made our decisions. She was pleasant, professional, and did everything a person on the wait staff is supposed to do (drink order, taking our food order and getting it 100% right, coming back to check on the food minutes after she had brought the dishes to the table. Once we were finished, she cleared the dishes, asked if we wanted dessert, and brought us to-go boxes and the bill.) Seriously, she was the best waitress we've had in a long, long time. Thank you, Marisa! Also, it should be mentioned that the food is very good, and the portion sizes are very large. We were able to enjoy another large meal the next day just from our leftovers. Quite a popular spot for a Saturday night! There was a bit of a wait for a table, but we were able to snag a couple of bar seats without the wait. Stuck to the American mule as my cocktail of choice for the night, simple yet effective. They were unfortunately out of the scotch egg, but the bangers and mash finally satisfied my longterm craving for that particular dish. If you are counting on your points at Cricketers Pub don't. I have had two times now that 1000 points which equals $20 each has been subtracted from my total of points even before I ever ordered something or paid my bill. They don't honor the points that you spend good money on and even when you bring up the issue, they blame you or someone else instead of fixing the issue. I'm so upset about this and will be looking at a new place to spend my money. read more

After we got our order taken, we noticed how hot it was. we asked our server to have someone turn ac down. she informed us that the ac was broken. new coming next week. Haven't been to this place in a while and not sure why I never left a review but here it goes. Such a nice homey feeling bar and restaurant. It's nice and roomy inside but I always like sitting at the bar. Beer ice cold! $4.45 for a draft. Wish it was a little bit cheaper. Just my two cents. We ordered the grouper fingers and Reuben sandwich. The group fingers are actually an appetizer big enough for two people. No sides come with it but a nice large portion. The fish was very fresh and homemade tartar sauce. Very happy with my selection. My husband got the Reuben also very good. Would have liked marble rye but came on regular rye toast. Also very yummy and enough for me to get a couple of bites. French fries nice and crispy. All around a nice experience. Bartender friendly and efficient. Wish we lived a Little closer. My wife and I were out running errands in northern Dunedin, with a quick stop for passes for Honeymoon Island State Park. Checked the area and decided to check out Cricketeers. This was about 1:30 PM on a Friday. Place was pretty busy but seated right away. Our server Alii, not a boxer, brought menus and water. I thought since it was a British pub, we could try some items from our trip there 20 years ago. I decided to try a Scotch Egg since we've never had it. "Hot or Cold" asked Allí. Well I enjoy cold hard boiled egg but cold sausage? I chose hot. My wife, always the anti-adventurous eater chose a Cheesesteak Sub with Onion Rings. In a British Pub??? Since one of our fav memories was a hot fish filet and chips rolled in newspaper, I went with the Fish & Chips, also with Onion Rings. In a bit our Scotch Egg arrived hot, and accompanied by sliced tomatoes and onions plus two kinds of relish, both pretty sour. I'm not sure if Scotch Egg is an aquired taste, but not for me. I know Brits don't season heavily but the sausage was very bland. I even tried the different sauces, tomato & onion. Nope. And I loved Haggis, much stranger. After a short wait our lunches arrived. My wife's Cheesesteak was very good. Soft bun, juicy meat and fried onions. Not the best ever but ok for a British pub. My Haddock filled the plate, just like the review pictures. It was super! Only missed the newspaper cone to take me back to England. My wife agreed. But the keystone was the Onion Rings! Crisp, hot, lightly breaded and muy delicioso! And the final delight was great coleslaw. Of course the plates were large and we could not finish, so a later meal also. Next time maybe Shepherd's Pie or Pasty. Have been going to the Cricketers quite often since moving here from California. Always great food, drinks and the British pub experience. I am from London. Went to the Cricketers for the first time since the place was updated and it was horrible. It has gone from an English pub atmosphere to an American food hall at a mall. Too bright lights, noisy beyond belief and nothing like it used to be . The food is great as are the drinks but horrible cold lighting and the atmosphere has gone, along with the double tier of tables and booths. Because of this change, the noise is so loud as there is nothing to absorb the sound. No longer a Brit pub and that is sad as we used to enjoy the place big time. read more
