Ridiculously small chickens. Outrageous prices not worth the money. I recommend trying other Peruvian chicken establishments in the area.

The quality has gone downhill, the size of the chickens have become very tiny, yet the prices are going up. A man representing himself as the owner, I feel, was very rude to me when I politely made a complaint. At least take responsibility when customers bring up valid concerns! Our family used to get a Super Bowl platter two - three times a month, which is about $150. So treating customers badly is not going to really benefit your company because from one customer, you've now lost $1,800 a year in revenue. Just think, that's only one person. How much money are you losing by treating other customers poorly and not delivering a quality product? Thank goodness this isn't the only place in town anymore for Peruvian chicken. I'll definitely try others in the future. Surely, they're better, which is what a lot of people are saying in reviews.

I have been a fan of Crisp and Juicy's food for a long time now and I am finally getting around to writing a review. I was tasked with bringing a meal to a family I was going to have dinner with and my main instruction was "the kids always like chicken..." So with that in mind, I went ahead and ordered the family platter (a whole chicken (white meat) and three sides (yuca, plantains and rice&beans)). The food was ready for pick up when I walked in. It was still nice and warm when I arrived at the family's home. And we all greatly enjoyed the meal. My only reason for bringing it down one star is because the cashier was pretty dour. And because the times that I have eaten on site I have felt that much more could be done to make the ambiance a little warmer and cozier. Overall, it is a great place.

Great food for a very reasonable price. We ordered two large Caesar salads with chicken, large fried yucca, large fried plantains, medium chimichurri sauce, medium spicy sauce, and a gruyere chicken breast sandwich, and the total came to about $40. The gruyere chicken sandwich was good but there was far too much lettuce and on the dry side. I always get extra sauces specifically for this purpose, to make my meal more satisfying. The chicken salad was mediocre. More cheese would be desirable. The chicken was good, but not excellent. I asked for it to be extra grilled but it was not. The medium size of the sauces is plentiful for 3-4. The large is most likely better for a larger group. The chimichurri sauce is very flavorful and delicious but more liquidy that I expected. The spicy sauce isn't very spicy. They also have horchata and passionfruit fresh beverages.

Got an awesome deal on a Groupon here and this location did not disappoint! Food came out quickly and it was fresh. Got my usual - the whole chicken with a side of peruvian rice. The portions were huge. Unlike their Rockville location, they do not sneakily charge you extra for sauce that normally comes with the meal (when you tell them what sauce you want). Chicken was juicy and delicious, as always!!

One sunny Saturday, I decided I would drop by this place and check out their food. I have heard Crisp & Juicy is good (from a fellow yelper), so I wanted to try it out for myself. The parking lot for this place is also shared with other places including a post office and a few other stores, so it was quite busy in this area, but there are still spots available to park in. As you enter through the door, it shows that they accept Mastercard, Discover and Visa, so American Express card holders, you may need to go to one of the nearby banks to get some funds. Once you do enter, there is a menu that pops up on a digital screen in front of you (right above the cashier) and it shows each item along with the pricing (there is even a mini description under most of the items). To the left of those screens (you may have to stand in the table area), there is a separate screen that shows what some of the dishes look like - too bad I did not really see this until after I put in my order. On this visit, I decided to try the Chicken Platter Dark - it is a 1/4 chicken and it comes with 2 sides. They had quite a lot of sides to choose from and so I decided on Primavera Rice and Fried Plantain. I had to ask the cashier what the difference was between Primavera Rice and White Rice and she said the Primavera Rice was yellow rice, so that is why I opted to try it. I enjoyed the chicken, but I did not like the rice too much. The fried plantains were okay but I have had better. The rice was a bit hard (like it was overcooked) and the fried plantains, I could tell that the plantains were really ripe before they were cooked as it had a mushy texture to it (not too much of a fan of that style). I will visit again and maybe try some different sides on my next visit.

I stopped here on the way home from work tonight to get dinner at about 6:45pm. I went up to the counter to order and was told they were out of chickens! What kind of chicken place runs out of chicken. When I questioned it, they said they had chickens just that none were cooked and ready. Unacceptable for restaurant is primary menu item is chicken! read more

Food is great... I got the chicken fried rice past time I was there it need a little more soysauce but other than that it was good . They give you 2 free sauces which is not enough so you have to pay for more. I do love that is so close to my job so its a quick stop when i dont want to drive so far. read more

I have to confess the chicken is really good. Lately it has been on the dry side, but no denying the great flavor. However, they are getting greedy. Prices have gone up and that little bit of sauce (which taste great) is treated like caviar...I'm tempted to ask for a cracker. It is served in a container the size of a pack of ketchup and you want more? 47cents each extra pack. Also, as the prices have gone up you are now limited in your side dishes. You can have fries and salad but if you want any of the traditional sides like rice and beans or yucca, you have to pay extra. Lunch is now $10 for this nice fast food joint. I'll still come every once in awhile but it will no longer be a weekly lunch spot. To many options out there. Simply, an owner getting to greedy...and i predict they will lose for it. read more

Decided to try Crisp and Juicy. I ordered a whole chicken & one large order of plantains. When I got home and opened the container of plantains ~ wow what a mess. The plantains were a huge blob of mess dripping in oil. I couldn't even tell that they were suppose to be plantains. I had to throw the supposingly plantains away. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager and told him what was suppose to be my large order of plantains was actually an unidentified blob of something that had been soaked in oil. He said, "Oh sorry about that." That was it, Sorry about that, nothing else offered. Chicken was okay. I won't go back because of poor customer service. read more

Crisp & Juicy - nope. It should be called Tough & Chewy!! The wait wasn't too long but the chicken I got was very dry and hard. The wings were not edible they were so dried out. I love chicken but most of this one was more like a brick. Even my favorite the dark meat was more like shoe leather than chicken. This is the last time I go to Crisp & Juicy!! read more

I like to do take out from Crisp n Juicy. Chicken and sauces are delicious. We love the rice, friend yuca, plantains. Salad isn't anything special. And I don't like the bathroom there for some reason. But overall the food is delicious and sometimes I just need my Peruvian chicken fix. read more

I have to give them a 4 star review because we take home their chicken so often. We love the chicken, yuca and plantains. Fries are ok, they could do better. Too often they are soo very soggy. Their sauces are lacking. Although my kids like the yellow sauce, but I need some spice! They need to offer a real green spicy sauce. And they are cheap with the sauces. Two little sauces are not enough. You always have to order extra and that adds up $$$. Their staff are so sullen. Not a happy one in the bunch. They really need someone at the cashier that says "hi I am so happy to serve you!!" But alas, they are dull and uninterested. Still we will go back because we do love their chicken, yuca and plantains and tolerate their fries. Then we drown our displeasure about their attitudes with Inca Kola. read more

The Crisp & Juicy in the Leisure World Plaza is the best!! We ordered a large quantity of food recently and it was MIRACULOUS!! The chicken perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy--the sauces to die for!! We adored the Fried Yuca--so perfectly done, flavorful and the wonderfully succulent fried plantains. Real comfort food, as was the rice and beans--all wonderfully seasoned. The house salad was so fresh, it was like it was just gathered from the garden!! And the salad dressing added just the perfect amount of tanginess!! Everyone who wants to enjoy the very best should come to this Crisp & Juicy!! You will keep coming back!!! read more

I placed a phone order at the Leisure World Crisp and Juicy yesterday for a Latino Chicken Breast Sandwich. The order was taken and I went to go pick it up 10 minutes later. After I waited on a long line to get to the cash register, the manager told me they were out of chicken breast and he didn't have my order. UM What? How does a CHICKEN RESTAURANT run out of chicken? He walked away from me before I could even respond to him. Never asked me if I wanted something else, never apologized nothing! Poor customer service. I will never go back to that location again. Wise up grouchy manager, word of mouth can be a negative too!!! read more

been going here ever since can remember. for f**ks sake, this restaurant is the reason that Crisp and Juicy has 5 other locations. the people that rated it less then five stars are most likely gringos that don't know how to order. Get chicken, yucca, and make sure you smother both in that AMAZING hot sauce. you can't go wrong. read more

Poor service tonight at Crisp & Juicy soured me on a restaurant that I probably have patronized 100 times, almost always carryout. When I arrived to order my carryout tonight, the restaurant was extra busy, so I expected to wait a little longer for my order. After waiting 30 minutes and noticing that later arriving patrons were leaving with their orders, I asked about my order. One of the people in the kitchen said "yes, we have your order." After waiting another 15 minutes, I asked the guy behind the counter for my money back and walked out. The food always has been good, but who wants to wait forever for a simple order of a whole chicken and sides. When no one apologized or offered to even partially comp my order, I decided I was finished with Crisp & Juicy. read more

I usually stop at this Crisp and Juicy when I am in the area. I have to agree with others, this location needs some work. The workers aren't very friendly and they talk to each other the whole time you are waiting for your order. The chicken is good, but when I spend over $20 for a whole chicken and 3 large sides, I expect more than 4 tiny containers of dipping sauce. For this size portion, they should give you double the amount of sauce. I like to put my sauce on the yuca and beans and rice too. I ran out of sauce before I could get to the other half of chicken. I should have checked my bag before I walked out and asked for more. I don't mind paying for the sauce, but at least give the customer a little more to begin with. It's a giant jug they pour from, so I'm sure they can spare a few extra sauces. The sauce is good, that's one of the reasons I go there, but why so stingy with it. The rice and beans were okay, but the fried yuca just seemed a little overdone and tough. The cole slaw isn't bad, but it needs less mayonnaise because it is pretty runny. I'll still go to this one when I'm in the area, but Sardis is better and if I had a choice between the two, Crisp and Juicy would not be my first choice. read more

They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. My other go to Indian spot, their tandoori chicken comes with dhal and much cheaper! For the price they charge here, it was not worth it. The food tasted ok. The service was fine and the place was nice. I just don't see myself in a rush to try them again.

Crisp & juicy is my favorite but definitely not the Leisure World location. The man that takes your order is not friendly and very rude. This location is convenient because I live down the street in olney, MD but I would much rather drive to the Rockville location because they treat their customers 10X better. The leisure world location is always stingy about their sauces and they are skimp with their yucca/fries. The man at the front seems to be racist, my fiancé and myself have gone in there a couple times and he treats a certain race very nice and others very rudely, this place is not welcoming at all. I highly recommend the Rockville location though. read more

Concur with Andrew K. Good, but there's better Peruvian chicken out there. The reason it's "juicy" seems to be because the chicken is marinated in a very salty brine. Loses points for being much too salty. The Yucca fries are nice and not greasy or too salty. One positive about this place is the chickens don't seem to be sitting under a heat lamp but are more cooked to order. However, if you like more char-broiled spices on the skin, try another joint like nearby Pollo Brasero. read more
