I came in around 8:30, a few tables outside had people drinking their coffees and eating breakfast. When I walked in, only one guy was waiting for his order. There was only one person working. The service was not good. I stood at the order counter for 5 minutes, I looked at the lady, she looked at me, and didn't offer a high I'll be right with you. I understand she was the only one preparing coffee and food. I'm not trying to complain about the wait, but the lack of acknowledging a customer to say it will take some time. I finally ordered an iced latte. I do think they have some creative drinks, but I know they are usually too sweet and I just opt for a plain iced latte instead. It was an ok latte, nothing amazing. They have a bulletin board for people to post their flyers or business cards. There was a card on the board that said A.W.A.R - All woke are retards. I'm sure that's not the view of the establishment. I do think they need to screen the board from time to time.

We did, but it turns out they take orders in person in the back. Ah well. * Although we got there about 1PM and they were open to 5PM, there were a lot of menu items that were already sold out. Including pretty much any baked goods. Sigh. * All the tables that seat four people had one person at them with their stuff spread all over the table. Technically not the restaurant's fault, but it was kind of annoying. We opted for the community table, which was empty. * After what felt like a considerable amount of time, they brought out the "big breakfast" that my significant other had ordered. Without comment, the bagel was replaced by a single piece of toast cut in half. We looked at each other quizzically, and I said, "I guess maybe they ran out of bagels?" Well, OK. Sigh. But where's my order of a bulgogi sandwich? I told my SO to go ahead and eat and not let the eggs get cold. * He tried the eggs, but they were kind of dry and lukewarm, like they had been dying in the window. I said, "How could they be dying in the window when mine isn't even here yet?" But there it is. * My SO had almost finished his lunch, and there was still no sign of mine. Finally I went up to the register and asked. Turns out they had never even started making mine. Um, what? Two orders come on the same ticket, and you decide to make one and not the other? * As I mentioned above, they offered to either start my order then or give me a refund. I was so disappointed and frustrated that I just took the refund. Then we walked down the street to Ole's Waffle House so I could order food and have a chance of receiving it. There, I had one of the best patty melts I can recall, and my SO enjoyed what he said was the best piece of carrot cake he ever had. Plenty of good coffee refills for half the price of the tiramisu lattes. Dandelion Kaffe was busy, but if the kitchen doesn't feel like making what you order, then what's the use?

It was full, but we managed to find a table and enjoyed the space for food and conversation. I'd recommend this place for their coffee, friendly service and pastries. When we finished eating we needed to bus our table. They have a bin in the back of the shop to set your used dishes. I'll be back next time I'm in the neighborhood.

This is a good spot for a coffee date, as well as just grabbing a coffee/breakfast to go, or while stocking up on groceries. There are a few indoor tables, and a couple of outdoor ones on the street. The Park St. bridge is just a hop away, so we'll often grab a coffee here to fuel up on our way out of town. Street parking is very difficult here, but the grocery does have its own lot in the back, albeit a cramped one. Give yourself extra time to park.

Although I haven't tried many of their drinks, I can say that their matcha latte has been consistently good. Today I ordered one with almond milk and the matcha flavor is nicely balanced. Good ratio between matcha and milk. The matcha itself tastes pretty well rounded - not bitter, but also not too subtle in flavor. I probably got the matcha here like three times and it has not failed me yet. My partner really enjoys the Malasada but they can sell out pretty quickly. Previously I've tried their Ube Crinkle and their donuts and they were pretty good as well. This time, I wanted something a little less sweet and small so I tried the Bibingka which was great! I love mochi and the Bibingka had a mochi texture to it. It comes with some pineapple bits which I tend to avoid, but my desire to try something new overrode that today and thankfully, the bits were small. It's a dense little bite, but I enjoyed it! A perfect little bike treat. I don't get much interaction here with the workers since it's such a quick stop, but it's okay. I think depending on what time you go, it just gets really busy and employees are just trying to chug out the orders. We'll be back again for those delicious drinks and pastries though!

A mistake made me a huge fan of this bakery... I went to pick up a surprise birthday cake for my boyfriend at the designated time - just before closing. When I ordered it a few days before Christmas, they also had received about 45 Christmas buche de noel cakes that day - but when I went in a few hours before the surprise party, my order had been lost. I told them not to worry, as I can only imagine how stressful making all Christmas orders must have been. I would go to Safeway and get a pre-made cake. But... the owner was devastated, and his wife/chef equally as upset. It was closing time on Sunday afternoon, 2 days after Christmas, and the chef insisted on coming in and making the special orange chiffon cake. Not only did she do this in just a couple of hours, they delivered it to my home! They went above and beyond the call of duty, and I was so impressed with their customer service and professionalism. Not to mention that the cake was divine! My friends were all impressed, and my boyfriend thrilled with the delicious orange chiffon cake! I am a total fan of this very special bakery, and highly recommend them. Their breads and dessert are of the highest quality, and the husband and wife team who own it are awesome! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Seriously, this is one of the best new bakeries not just in Alameda but the whole Bay Area. It's a beautiful space, with helpful friendly staff, but above all, has absolutely AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS stuff - both bread and pastry. I've been twice times since they opened, and both times got there early enough (~9-10am) to get a sampling of a bunch of their things (my friend went there later in the day and they were mostly sold out - I must not be the only one to have heard about them!) - The croissant might be the best I've had outside of France, buttery, flaky and flavorful - I got a little cake called a financier with fresh strawberries that was perfectly moist & delicious - The ginger cookies were soft, chewy and oh-so-gingery - I got a loaf of the olive bread, which was simply amazing, and I ate the whole thing way too fast Great coffee too, and nice general ambiance, a casually elegant place to meet a friend over some tasty treats. This bakery is a great spot to grab both sweet and savory treats, plus they've got a good selection of breads. The folks working here are super patient and helpful while you're trying to figure out what you want. You order through a window on the sidewalk, and it's all to-go. Excellent items. Picked up 3 things on my first visit, the Olive Oil Cake, Raspberry filled brioche and the Ham & Cheese Croissant. Everything was excellent, and I believe I've found my new favorite Ham & Cheese Pastry in all of the Bay Area. With its fennel notes and herbs, it adds a great twist and depth to this version. They have a lot of different pastry choices, but unfortunately, there was only one vegan option: a tiny hazelnut sweet bread. I ordered the bread along with an Americano. When I tried to take the pastry out of the package to share it with my girlfriend, it completely crumbled into a big mess. I went up to the counter to let them know, and the employee told me it was actually meant to be eaten straight from the package. She mentioned it was on the drier side being vegan, she took the crumbled mess and gave me a new one but it ended up having the exact same issue. It wasnt dry, but it just wouldn't hold any moisture and was far too crumbly to eat. For $5, this tiny pastry was a major letdown. To make the interaction weirder, she took the original crumbled bread back from me and I'm only assuming threw it away, which felt entirely unnecessary. Having been vegan for nine years, I've had some truly amazing, moist vegan baked goods, so this was incredibly disappointing. Even my friends who don't like sweets love this cupcake! They make a full sized cake version as well which is also delicious. I usually am not a fan of cupcakes because I feel like they lack depth of flavor compared to other desserts, but that's not the case at Cupcakin'.
