My friend ordered a custom cake for her 30th birthday and it ended up being the talk of the night. The cake was red velvet and decorated in the cutest way. Every detail was so thoughtfully done, and even better, everything on the cake was edible. People kept coming up to the table to look at it because it was just that adorable. Beyond how great it looked, it tasted amazing too. The red velvet was moist, rich, and not overly sweet, which made it really easy to keep going back for another bite. You can tell a lot of care went into both the design and the baking itself. If you're looking for a place in Oakland to order a custom cake for a special occasion, I would absolutely recommend them. The bread is perfectly fresh crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I got the spicy chicken with extra pickled veggies and every bite was packed with flavor. Fresh, crunchy, a little spicy, perfectly balanced. The portions are generous too. Now the Vietnamese coffee? STRONG. Coffee lovers will love it. If you like it sweeter, ask for extra condensed milk. The best pate chaud in town! This little bakery on the outskirts of Chinatown is my go to for celebration cakes and pate chauds. There is always a nice selection of cakes ready to go each morning but I would recommend calling to save one or if you need any writing/special decorations. I've had their mixed fruit and pandan cakes and both were delicious! Parking is always easy and available on their street, which is another reason I love this bakery. read more

Ordered a pandan cake for my mom's birthday since she remembered having it years ago and absolutely loved it. We got a 9" cake for around $45, which honestly felt like a great deal considering how expensive cakes are these days. I called about a week in advance to place the order, and the staff were super friendly and helpful throughout the process. The shop itself is pretty small and mainly set up for grab and go. Got a custom chiffon cake made for my baby shower and picked up at Delicieuse Princesse Bakery. It's probably easiest if you message her and order via IG (her handle is sweetsbyevo) and pick up at the bakery. There are lots of customization options. I got a vanilla sponge with matcha whip and fresh strawberries. For ~35 guests, she recommended the 10" round cake, and it was the perfect size. In my messages, I provided some inspo pics and she did a great job with the decoration. I'm very happy with how it turned out! Paid $180 for my cake, with 50% deposit upfront (easy payment via Zelle or Venmo) and the remaining 50% at the bakery during pickup. read more

I'm a sucker for when it comes to coconut pandan flavored desserts. I'm so glad there is a bakery that has this. I door-dashed an 8in coconut pandan cake. Instead of coconut filling, they use toddy palms. I'm not a big fan of toddy palms but it went well with the cake. I hope they have an option to add coconut strings for the filling one day. All in all, the cake was delicious and not too sweet. This might be my favorite place to order asian cakes. read more

Princesse Bakery has been around for decades, and I've gone there for their breads and cakes. I'm pretty sure it is the same family that owns and runs the bakery although it's the younger generations taking a more active role in the past few years. Their pate chaud, pork pate in a puff pastry, is one of their classic favorites and is very good. I'm also partial to their butterfly cookies ever since I was a kid. They have a wide range of cakes that you could order ahead of time, but in my experience they've had different cakes in the case that you could buy right there, although the flavors they have on hand my vary. They have traditional cakes with fresh fruit, or water chestnut or chocolate/mocha but they also have red velvet and unique flavors like durian, my mom likes their durian cake. Princesse Bakery is an solid staple in Downtown Oakland/Chinatown and I still support them when I can. read more

Pretty busy even on a rainy day. They have specialty durian and pandan cakes that I don't see very often. They are known for their Pate Chaud which are super delicious. However their other buns are pretty disappointing. The custard bun and cocktail bun had an embarrassing amount of filling. read more

Reviewing the durian designed cake! Wow! The level of skill to do the buttercream this way is really fantastic. The pandan cake with durian filling was a very nice combination! The durian flavor wasn't overpowering and the cake was soft and fluffy! The shop itself was very cute with lots of different baked goods to choose from. The cake baker serviced me during pick up and was really kind to adjust my pickup time the day of. I hope to do another cake transaction here again in the future! So sad that they don't do fondant-based cakes anymore..but NOTVto worry!!! Evonne does fantastic work with whip cream-based frosting!!! She and her team create such beautiful works of art!! And you can actually eat the frosting! Unlike fondant which usually ends up in the trash because it's so thick and heavy. I've tried their red velvet and mixed fruit cake. The mixed fruit was surprisingly my favorite. The peach, pineapple, lychee combo worked really well together! Their costumer service is great! If I was a gatekeeper, I would gatekeep this place so hard. My parents have been coming here for years, ordering the basic chinese bakery sponge cake with fruit. We stopped by to pick one up and saw the cutest Cinnamoroll cake in the fridge. After that, we were all waiting for the next birthday to make a custom order. Evonne is so freaking talented. I can't even describe how cute the cakes she makes are, so I've attached pictures of the two that we've ordered so far. I sent an inspiration pic for the Pochacco cake from Pinterest, and the cake I received was so much better than the inspo pic. Evonne is so detailed too - I wasn't too specific about anything, but she changed the P on Pochacco's cake to an R for the birthday girl! Also, the detail on the sides of the cake were so good. For the Pochacco cake, I had ordered an 8 inch matcha sponge cake with strawberry filling and strawberry fresh fruit. The cake itself was very yummy and they had a lot of strawberries in it. Evonne, the owner, is super nice and helpful. I spoke to her about ordering a wedding cake. She was always quick to respond and transparent about pricing and what was included. I highly recommend her and this bakery. It was a stress-free experience and the price was more than fair. They have lots of flavors, but I opted for strawberry and pandan. I love pandan and I wanted to have something a little unique at my wedding since a lot of my guests were from out of town or even out of country. My wedding guests LOVED the cake. I dropped by a few weeks ago after a workout and got a few pastries - I got mostly savory items: curry, pork, and the pandan coconut. A week later I came back to get a medium pandan cake for a birthday and the staff were kind enough to add writing to it. I ended up getting an iced coffee (super strong). I've ordered Too Good to Go leftover bags on two different occasions. The first time, I was given 5 pastries, most of them were more on the savory side. It included one with a lot of mayo and corn, another that has ham in it, one that was more like a garlic cheesy bread, and a sweet bun with a swirly pattern on it. I thought the bread was alright for the most part but I and my partner had some stomach pains in the day or so after eating, so I'm not sure if this particular batch was a little too old. The second time, I also received 5 buns, but with a slightly higher ratio of sweet buns. One had almond pieces on it, and there was also a long one that was again similar to a garlic cheesy bread, but I found the latter to be overly salted. Both times, I was helped by the same staff who I appreciate for being so friendly and efficient. I will give them credit for having such a generous portion of breads for the price. read more

Wonderful bakery! Apparently it's been here for 30+ years but the new owners took over this summer in 2023. We pre ordered a Pandan cake and it wss delicious! Wonderful family owned Vietnamese business with yummy cakes and baked goods. Parking is a little tough in this area but it is well worth the wait. They have authentic asian flavors that they can add to cakes with custom orders and cakes you can purchase right there. If your not looking for a cake, I highly recommend their baked goods section, they were so yummy and a great addition to the trip I took to get there. There is no seating in bakery so it's definitely a grab and go experience! read more

I absolutely LOVE Delicieuse Princesse Bakery!! Their pastries are so delicious and I personally love the pate chaud so so soooo much! But the real deal for me is their cakes! They have so many flavors like pandan, matcha, ube, and more! Along with that, they also have fresh fruit. I've gotten numerous cakes from them and they nail it every single time! There's no one else I would go to for such delicious and detailed designs on cakes. From simple to extremely detailed, they do it all! I could not be happier with them. I also love their Vietnamese yogurt that they sell in the fridges, it's sooooo good and I can't wait to go get some more! I got 3 orders from the Too Good To Go app. I share them with families & friends. Every order had 5 different kinds of both savory & sweet pastries. I have tried a few of them. Those are the ones I'm leaving feedbacks on. The bread dough that they use w/ majority of the items is very good. Typical Chinese bread however theirs is more moist than other bakeries I've tried. Very similar to King's Hawaiian bread but more moist. - ham & corn - definitely has more flavor than what I've tried with other bakeries. It's not just a flat mayo taste. Tasted more like some seasoning has been added. - custard bun's topping is not dry & crumbly. Also, not overly sweet. - bbq pork bun - I like the bbq taste however, it didn't taste like a typical Chinese bbq. Also, could use more filling. I wouldn't mind paying more in the future if there's more meat filling. - croissant - moist & more buttery than typical in regular grocery stores. Big & dense as well -cocktail bun - love it. The filling is so moist & and bit on the creamy side - coconut bun - very creamy & distinct coconut flavor but not overpowering - hotdog bun - great presentation. Not typical Chinese bakery of hotdog wrapped in bread dough. Also, sprinkled with cheese in the middle that kind of made up for the small hotdog pieces. Seems typical size of Chinese bakery used in their hotdog buns. Wish they would use the 8 pcs per 16 oz as opposed to the 8 pcs per 12 0z. Can't tell you guys about the rest bec my brother, sister & daughter took the rest w/o sharing First time coming in here (Too Good To Go app). I will be back to try some other items outside of the app. Finally, I picked up my order an hour before the pick up time frame. I called & asked if it was ok because I was already in Chinatown. The young lady whom answered the phone said it was ok. Got there & she was so helpful & friendly. She also mentioned that she packed a variety of items. Delicieuse Princesse Bakery was first established in 1988 and has been in business for about 30 years. Fast forward to 2023, it is now under new ownership but still serving the same "delicieuse" Asian-inspired baked goods as ever before.

Do I think this place is somewhere you must go to try out? Honestly, no, it is a good value pizza that tastes delicious, but I would say to only stop in if you are around the area.

The process was easy and flawless because I used CashApp. Now my dad is very particular about things re sweets due to diabetes but he told me that he hasn't ever tasted a sugar free cake so darn good. His cake was delivered on Saturday and since then he has talked about the cake. Even his wife was pretty impressed. Though I didn't taste the cake, I know it was delicious because my dad doesn't play when it comes to food. He said it was fresh and super delicious. The cake looked pretty and tasted good but the birthday boy thought it was a little dry. The service at the counter was friendly and helpful. I think the next time I need a special cake I would try preordering. Some of their other flavors looked really good but they were out of stock.

Definitely will come and try some other items. They are very friendly here. It's actually an extremely small bakery but charming.

By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. Sad.

It extended to the salad rolls which were generously portioned and used lightly fried tofu which I prefer. One additional note about the broth. It's a richer style than I normally like so I couldn't drink it to the last drop, but I can't fault its great flavor. The service was above average, with a spirited vibe. With a range of Asian flavors like Pandan Coconut and Durian, these cakes were a true indulgence. The Pandan Coconut cake exuded a tantalizing aroma and a perfect balance of flavors, while the Durian cake, surprisingly delightful, won me over. To add to the excitement, there was a delightful pop-up collaboration with SweetsByEvo, offering Asian-inspired Creme Brulee and cookies. The Creme Brulee showcased unique flavors such as Thai Tea, Matcha, and even Jasmine Milk Tea! The cookies were amazing as well! I need to come back for the Neapolitan Cookie. The reason why I don't come here any more because the last birthday cake I ordered they totally mislead me. I called and asked for a hello kitty head shaped cake that I saw someone else ordered and posted on here. I asked many times if they understood what I wanted and they said off course. The day I came to pick it up, what a surprise, they gave me something that didn't even come close to what we've agreed on. I asked for a hello kitty head shaped cake and they gave me a regular white cake with pink borders and a bunch of hello kitty toys to stick on my cake. I was so disappointed that I was going to cry. On top of that they charged me extra for the stupid toys. I talked to the lady there(owner I assume) and she told me she understood what I wanted but the time limit that I gave her couldn't get her to complete the cake since it needed to be made with fondant. I was so mad because instead of telling me that you couldn't do it so I can go somewhere else, you made me an ugly cake that I couldn't stand to look at. Zero star! read more

My family and I have been loyal customers of this bakery for over 15 years, always enjoying their delicious cakes, especially the durian cake, our favorite. However, I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience. Yesterday, July 20th, I purchased two durian cakes (a 9-inch and an 8-inch) for my parents' birthday celebration. To my shock, the 9-inch cake was sour and tasted rotten. This was the first time in over 15 years that we were given a rotten durian cake. Thankfully, we had the second cake, which saved the birthday from being a complete disaster. It's disheartening to see how the quality has deteriorated under the new ownership. Selling a cake that has clearly gone bad is not only unethical but also unacceptable. I wasted $50 on a cake that was inedible and ruined our celebration. Sadly, after this experience, I will not be returning to this bakery. I cannot support a business that no longer values its customers. read more

Owner very rude, we ordered a birthday cake and request to have new cake make since we don't know how old is the display cake. After waited 3hrs and came back to pick up, the display cake is no longer there and the owner said don't worry he already trash that cake that our cake was freshly make. We got home and yes, that the old cake, it was sour in the inside and when we came back to ask for refund the owner was yelling and taking photo of us. Don't recommend this bakery. read more

EXCELLENT pate-chaud on the face of the planet. Trust me, I've tried every pate-chaud in every bakery, from northern cali to southern cali and no one comes close. the funs are crunchy with hundreds of tiny layers that would melt in your mouth. I store in the refrigerator and reheat in the air fryer for 5 mins and it's ready to eat. Their fruit cakes are also amazing. Light and airy sponge like cake packed with fruit and cream. The shell was perfectly crisp. My partner and I wound up eating it slowly over several days and it still held up pretty well. Of course, the custard started to soften the shell but it was still very tasty. Next time I'm back in Oakland, I'll have to stop by and see the store in person. Thank you for the lovely tart!
