Maybe it was before people discovered this place, but I was totes able to get my hands on their ham and cheese croissant. It was love at first bite. Something about their seeds on top. I cannot get over the mixed seeds on the delicious dough. There's something about fennel seeds...& the mustard! So for the past 3 weeks I've been craving a freaking ham and cheese from Crispian. Every time I make a trip I've been left with disappointment because you people have discovered the wonders of their ham and cheese croissant and buy them alllllllll. Once you eaten really good steak, you cant go back to cheap steak again. The same as for Crispian Bakery pastries/desserts. Additionally, i go to Paris a lot and nothing compares to Europeon/Paris's sweets unless it's Crispian Bakery. The best Triple chocolate cake and lemon Tart. The day before I surprise my husband on his birthday. We bought a few goodies for a bday lunch today, and simply AMAZING. Our friend mentioned it was good, but truly surpassed all expectations in both taste and aesthetic. I am so impressed and worth every penny as prices are higher, similar to Miette, Tartine or La Boulange. I got their 6" passion fruit chocolate mousse cake $25 (heavenly) pb&j macaroon $2 each (outstanding and now my favorite macaron ever) and Mallowmores $1 each (I didn't try it but also got rave reviews from everyone who did. House made marshmallows on top of a cookie & covered in chocolate I think). The flavors were all very balanced, along with the textures...really perfect! The service was also another really great aspect of this new little bakery, genuine, kind and warm which fits in well with our small community. Coffee is fantastic (but we wish they had soy or some other non diary option). Service is informative & friendly even when we have lots of questions, It's pricey sure- but u get the value of a great product. I prefer that over a huge cheap but crappy pastry. What can I say, except yum! Tried the croissant, cinnamon roll, the mallow more, and a loaf of the pan de mie. Saving a loaf of the black pepper and gruyere bread for breakfast- if it makes it. Recent changes have been unfriendly to customers. I've been going to Crispian since before the pandemic, and I've seen some changes that are really concerning in terms of the product. One item, the Almond Croissant, which is maybe one of the most popular items on the menu, has shrunk in size, but not cost. Also, the Bostock has been much more hit-and-miss in terms of the quality of late. I would say be careful of spending your money here currently, and potentially choose another more consistent bakery in Alameda, such as Feel Good. read more

My four year old daughter and I go here to enjoy their cupcakes, cookies and croissants. My daughter and I love anything chocolate and love hanging out in their cafe area. It is so cute that they have some kids books (about pastries) that I can read along with my daughter while enjoying our treats. The customer service is also great and friendly. This review is of their offerings at the Shadeland's Farmers Market in Walnut Creek. I bought some pastries to try out today. To be fair, their pastry is leagues better than the cart at the entrance of the farmer's market. Their selection looked amazing...I only wish they tasted as amazing. I had the croissant and it was ok. The inside was not cooked all the way through so there was a lot of soft raw dough. in the middle. It also was not that crispy or flakey and it tastes like they might use some kind of mix of butter and shortening in their bake as opposed to just 100% butter. It basically tastes like a more flakey and buttery amped up version of a Costco croissant. If you like Costco croissants then you will probably like this one. Also tried the cheddar (and something else) scone. The flavors were definitely there and it wasn't try but the inside was definitely also undercooked and it was still slightly raw inside. Best bakery in the Bay Area. Right off the bridge from Fruitvale and next door to Alameda Island Brewing Co. We come here once every couple weeks for the eclairs and the ham and cheese croissant. This croissant will blow your mind... it's basically a savory cinnamon roll where there's melted cheese throughout and each layer of the spiral has a strip of ham with slathered mustard going through it. One of the best ready-made breakfasts around. The eclairs are small and packed with flavor. Tastes like their cream/custard is 10x concentrated (have I been spending too much time in the lab?) Also, you can sit and have pretty great espresso drinks and they have a ton of cool baking cookbooks to page through while you enjoy your pastries. Service was fine. I ordered two different croissant patisserie and was painfully disappointed in both. The patisserie was so over baked, It wasn't flaky or moist.
