We showed up for a Saturday lunch ahead of a snow storm, and the overall experience was good. The staff were friendly. There were clearly some number of regulars around. The space is a bit old and drafty, but that just adds a level of character. In terms of the food, we ordered a few salads and a half reuben (part of the lunch special), plus an Italian flatbread. Nothing was exceptional, but everything was nicely prepared and presented. The vegetables in the salad were fresh and crisp. The flatbread was good but not particularly noteworthy. My partner liked the rueben, but thought it could use a little more sauerkraut. The Guinness was fresh and nicely poured. All told, this was a good experience. Understand that this is more of a neighborhood hang than a destination, but it excels at filling that role.

I made an exception recently and tried the pretzel sticks. They were kind of greasy, a detail I was willing to overlook because I was hungry and they tasted good. The beer selection is standard craft beer and domestics--I would love to see them stock more high abv beers in the cooler like they used to. Now it's mostly seltzers and IPAs.

We happen to be in the area so after about three years of avoiding them, I said why not give them another try. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was exceptional. It had a pleasant ambiance you could actually have a great conversation without excessive noise. I ordered the fish dinner and did they ever redeem themselves. It was no longer like Mrs. Paul's frozen fish, two very nice meaty breaded filet served with French fries that were hot and crispy cooked just right. Great snap when you crunched them. The breading on the fish was not overpowering and the fish itself was large and robust with the flavor of fresh caught cod. I was very impressed. Our waitress Caleigh who was wonderful. She was very attentive and checked on us regularly. I think Max & Erma's finally got it right. I certainly give them a standing ovation on this one.

Max & Erma's went from a quaint downtown restaurant to a decent regional chain with pretty reasonable prices. This location was convenient for a bunch of people coming from different directions. They make a great Long Island Iced Tea (not as good as Carl's Tavern, but who does?) and also has some pretty good food. We got some of their fried pickles as an appetizer and wow, they were really good. They could have been bigger pieces of pickle, but they were crispy and not soggy at all. I ordered the Pittsburgh Salad with Grilled Chicken and ranch dressing and it was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, the service was good and the final bill for all of us didn't break the bank. I'd go back!

I tried their catfish nuggets with coleslaw and fries as well as their funnel cake fries. The catfish nuggets just weren't the best. The fish itself was very thin and slimy. There was a ton of gray meat as well. The breading was kind of strange and tasted very strong of cornstarch and vinegar. Some of the breading was falling off, too. Not the best. The coleslaw wasn't any better. It came in a very small portion. Additionally, it was super liquids and sweet. There wasn't any creaminess. Overall not good. The french fries were actually pretty decent, though. They were crispy and cooked well. Soft on the inside. Also, the seasoning was very solid, and they gave me multiple sauces for free, which was also nice. The funnel cake fries also weren't that good. They had this sort of strange flavor that I can only describe as "dirty fried" like there was something there before they entered the fryer. Quite greasy, not enough powdered sugar. Bland and tasted stale. All in all, the place gives cheap food, most of which seems to be somewhat sub-standard. If you really just want something cheap, it's an okay spot, but quality is not the best. There's not space to sit inside, too, so call in for takeout or order online.

So it was a busy night here today as they had a comedy show playing too…read more First off our waitress was really nice - it was busy in the back room but the dinning room/ bar area was not busy when we got there ( that's was soon to change). They had the pens game on too so that was a bonus. You could tell the is a neighbor hood bat --- lot is folks knowing the staff as they were coming in. Parking lot was FULL!! They also have a pool table ;) We had seven in our party and they sat us quickly ... dink order taken while we looked over the menu (the kids knew what they wanted off the bat).... we ordered quesadillas, a pizza, spaghetti and meatball, the cod father, meatball sandwich, surf and turf as well as fish and chips ( come with 1 of of fish). See pics for moist of the items. It seemed like an extremely long time from when we ordered till we got served ... the kids were hangry when we got there and my nephew looked at me after drinking two glasses of water and asked where they heck is our food....believe the delay was because of the packed room for show all ordering food too. A very large group also came in ( like over 20 people) and say close to us.... our waitress was their waitress too. I think they were understaff for the amount of folks that were there. Food was ok...Fish was good and so was pizza (the pizza was actually really good!) they did have a stuffed zucchini roll that the table liked! I personally was not a fan of the Mac and cheese however. Enjoy if you stop here!

Hot cheese balls, nachos and quesadilla. The chips are fresh made there which makes any nacho dip great. Beer selection...awesome tap selection with around 12 or so great craft beers. A lot of seasonal. Service. A little slow, but it was one bartender for seemed to be the entire place. What really was slow was the food service. Not awful, but could have been a bit quicker. The bartender was very friendly and informed one of us when ordering the Pumking that it was $10/16oz draft. I know that it is more expensive, but that could be a surprise for the regular customer so the head's up I think is appreciated. I'll return here to check out other items on the menu and changing draft list.

We had a group of ten so we had to wait a bit which was expected. The food was average if not below as it always is The service was not up to par at all! they ran out of half their menu including the mozzarella sticks for the combo and refused to swap out for pretzels which seems like an easy switch. The combo comes with 4 choices and the choose your own only comes with three. Plus it's cheaper. When the manager came over when asked she was rude about it and lacked customer service she suggested we buy another buy the pretzels separate even though THEY ran out. She also said "we ran out since businesses was so good" to me Im hearing that they could have comped the pretzels or just allow us to switch as requested. As the manager if that's the expectation the servers can't be much better. Our server was nice she just seemed overwhelmed dealing with our big table plus other tables so she wasn't on top of it like she may have been in a slower day so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt When it came time to pay my pap couldn't get the discounted price because I'm younger than the required age but the person That's PAYINB is the correct age so for them to be sticklers like that is really ridiculous. That's more of a company issue but honestly I've been to chain restaurants where they will just give a small discount to appease the customer. That's the point of customer service.

We've always been pleased with our visits to Applebee's, but not this time. The food was okay, but…read morethe service was definitely lacking. Upon arrival, I told the hostess that we needed either a table or a half-and-half because I can't sit in booths. So, what does she do? She seats us at a booth then walks off (smh). Luckily, someone else nearby seated us at the table across from the booth. We then got a mini-menu, not the full one. We had to ask for the full menu because we knew before going what we wanted to order (our usuals), and none of them were on the mini-menu. After ordering, we waited for our meals. And waited. And waited. After waiting for over half and hour. The booth we were initially seated at and later occupied by a couple already had their food. I finally flagged our server (who never came to our table once since taking our order) and asked why our order was taking so long. She said she'd go see if there was an issue with the order. Uh, we shouldn't have had to ask her to do that! When we finally got our food, I had to ask for silverware so we could eat it (smh). We shouldn't have to ask! My granddaughter had to ask for steak sauce, and her medium-well steak was medium, not medium well. All in all, it was a most disappointing meal that was supposed to have been a celebration of my two grandchildren's birthdays.
