I am concerned that the recent sale of the locally owned Seattle area franchise to the national organization will alter that. The national call center is not yet programmed for our zip codes so, after a 35 minute hold, I was routed to an agent in Georgia and then from there to D.C. to respond to my requests for help in the Seattle area. Their website explicitly states they can locate dead rodents in walls, scope the area, and cut through drywall to remove them. Before booking, I confirmed this service multiple times--first with Ava during scheduling and again directly with the technician, Sam Dozer, before he even came to our home. Despite all of that, Sam showed up and then flat-out told us the company does not do this type of work at all. So let me be clear: * The website advertises the service * The scheduling rep confirmed it * The technician confirmed it * Then the technician arrived and said they don't do it This was a complete waste of time, incredibly unprofessional, and left us still dealing with a dead animal rotting inside our wall. Critter Control used to be good but it was purchased by an out-of-state company and now it's UNLICENSED, unprofessional, unreliable, and will lie to you. The website says they handle mountain beavers and the operator confirmed when I set up the appointment, but this morning Nasrat lied to me and canceled our appointment by saying he lacks a permit that isn't actually required. The State's website clearly states that a permit is not required. When I pointed out his lie, Nasrat made up another lie and said that a different license is required. But that license would be required for any type of wildlife pest control, so either he's lying or Critter Control's staff isn't licensed to do their jobs. The company's website states they handle many types of wildlife, so either the company is lying or Nasrat is lying. He's probably just lazy and doesn't want to get the license needed to do the job. I hired this company seven years ago to do the same work and they were great, but now they suck. read more

When we said okay, time to trap, they said they don't do that and it's really hard to get that license. Four different people came to our house in two weeks and none of them got the job done. This company has completely changed in the past year. We hired them in early 2025 to help us with a squirrel exclusion and were impressed by how timely, thorough, and responsive they were. So when we noticed a potential rat issue this year, we didn't hesitate to reach out again. They were still quick to schedule, but we very quickly learned things weren't the same. Shortly before the initial visit, the inspector called to say he would be delayed. He was supposed to come at 2pm but had to double back to a previous location and couldn't make it until 4pm. Right before 4pm he called again saying he wouldn't have time to come because he had another appointment in the evening. He offered to come the very next day. I told him we were available the next day but not at the scheduled 2pm slot. He acknowledged that 2pm didn't work and confirmed he would come later in the afternoon. The next day, he showed up at 2pm with zero recollection of our conversation from the day before. I had to have a friend come over and show him around. The next sign that something was amiss came when I got the quote from the inspector. It was significantly more expensive than very similar work 11 months earlier. We would have expected a few hundred dollars more to account for inflation, but it was almost twice as expensive. Comparing the itemized receipts, we noticed where last year there was a single item for "Initial Wildlife and Control Service," this year it was split into two separate items, each at an increased price. When I asked the inspector what could have changed over the 11 months, he agreed it didn't make sense and said he would look into it. He got back to me saying the company policy changed six months ago but couldn't adequately explain the rationale for splitting the item in two or what the difference between them was. Over the phone he mentioned we could pay the initial fee upfront but wait to pay the wildlife fee after services were rendered. At this point we noticed more rat droppings and felt pressed for time, so I took him up on the offer. But when the initial payment was requested, the receipt included both fees and he again had no memory of our previous phone conversation. We already felt like we'd waited too long and decided to just pay to get the pest problem resolved. The final straw came once they installed their bait stations. At the time our puppy was 10 months old, and one of the first questions I asked when setting up the initial appointment was whether they offered pet-friendly solutions. They assured me they did and reiterated this right before installing the bait stations. I asked the technician to send me the name of the poison after he installed it: Bromadiolone. It only took a few minutes of searching to learn not only was the poison NOT pet-friendly, but it's actually banned in many states. When I called them, the technicality they gave was that "pets couldn't get into the stations" and even if they accidentally ingested the poison "there was an effective antidote." They acknowledged it posed risks via secondary intoxication if an animal ate a poisoned rat or their droppings, which means not only did this put our pet at risk but also any neighborhood cats. I immediately instructed them to switch the bait stations to use something else. After some back and forth, the inspector claimed there was "nothing else they could use" even though safer alternatives definitely exist. I spoke with his manager and essentially got the same response. I then asked them to remove the bait stations, but they claimed doing so would immediately void the warranty. At that point I cancelled the entire contract. Since then we've hired a different pest control company. They were able to work with us using genuinely pet-friendly solutions and literally cost one-sixth of the price. It was also refreshing not to be gaslit a single time, as opposed to the three instances above. I wish we hadn't felt so pressed for time when we saw all the rat droppings and had explored alternative options before hiring Critter Control. We won't ever contract them again and highly recommend other pet owners avoid them entirely. read more

I paid this company about 1,300$ to take care of a mole problem which they failed at. I hired someone else and it was taken care of within a week at a fraction of the cost. I probably had 50 new mole holes after hiring Critter Control and the lack of their ability to fix the problem for which I hired them to do resulted in thousands of dollars of damage to my property. It was exhausting having to make arrangements for these people come out all of the time and not see any results. I called them and was told that the appointment would have to be rescheduled since Patrick failed to come. Critter Control is the absolute WORST company I've ever had to deal with and that include the BS of Meta and Xfinity. They were incredibly difficult to get ahold of from start to our pending finish. They sent someone to do an estimate for us IN THE DARK missing critical entry points for our rat issue. They failed to ask about or inspect the under the house crawl space for rat activity leading to continued entry of the pests. That was in November 2023 and only got around to starting the work in January citing issues with leadership transition. In the meantime they left our spare room covered in feces after inspecting our crawl space and then had the audacity to try and bill us over $200 for cleaning. When they installed traps in the crawl space they asked us for peanut butter to bait them, not even providing their own. We later found out from our replacement pest control company that they had wedged the traps so close to the joints of our attic crawl space that there was no way for the traps to close meaning they were just free feeding the rats in the attic on our dime. They quoted us some more BS about creating a partial exclusion by sealing the sides of the house with steel wool. Another pest company we had perform ean estimate pointed out that in several spots around our home Critter Control glued their material to solid concrete, excluding nothing and then trying to charge us TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS for it. Their technician showed up unanounced on two separate occasions asking us for more peanut butter for the attic traps and informing us that the traps around the house were empty. Yeah, no kidding. The company we're with now found three very large hole entry poiunts in the craw. space beneath the house and sealed those effectively stopping the rats from getting in. Critter Control sent out a manager to gaslight us into believing that the work they did was resonable. It was not. It is now June and we are currently pursuing legal action against this company. We hired Critter Control to come out to the house for an inspection after we discovered a couple of bats flying around inside our house (mid-July). Leif came out to the house right on time and helped to capture the rogue bats, identify where they were living, and systematically identify all of the sites where the bats were getting in, or could potentially get in in the future. It turns out that a small colony (around 10-20 bats) had been living in the attic! On the next visit to our home Leif, Zach and Dillon sealed up all of the potential entry/exit points, leaving a one-way door to let the bats out for seasonal migration. Finally the same team came out to completely remove all of the guano and replace dirty insulation from the attic once the bats were gone. They finished off with a disinfection treatment in the attic and fireplace, leaving everything good as new. My family really appreciates the professional work quality and positive attitude from the on-site crew (THANK YOU GUYS!) Furthermore the administrative team was able to clearly track all of the services billed and provided tips to help us get the remedial work covered by homeowners' insurance. read more

I really cannot give this company a good review. I contracted with them to trap and remove a family of four otters that were destroying my backyard garden, undermining my bulkhead, and burrowing under my house. The rep that came to my house for the estimate seemed very honest and straightforward, but had me sign what I later found out was a contract without giving me any time to read it. Silly me! From what he told me, I understood that they would set traps to catch the otters and come out to inspect them every couple of days. I didn't realize that this would only be for two weeks and at a price of $2000!! First , it took almost two weeks to get a trapper to come out and set the traps. The trapper they eventually sent was very young and said she had never trapped otters before. She set only two traps. For the first week, no otters were trapped, so she came out and moved one of the traps to a different location. One otter was finally trapped, and the trapper came the next day and removed it. I asked if she was going to replace the trap with another one, and she said no because she didn't have one. Two days leter she came and took away the second trap. That was it. I was never contacted again by the company, but they charged my credit card for $2K! So, I ended up paying $2000 for one otter, and the remaining three are still destroying my yard. I came to leave a positive review and was shocked by the ratings here. We had a critter issue and were getting bounced around between our HVAC guys and pest control. I called these guys and was offered an appointment for the following week. Later that day, I got a call from a wildlife specialist who wanted more info about what we were dealing with. She was super kind and knowledgeable and moved our appointment up to expedite things. She showed up on time (actually a little early!) with a kit and did a thorough investigation. She used a camera to peek into places that we couldn't see. Ultimately she explained in detail what our options were. It turns out a slightly different service was needed for our situation, but she was nice enough to throw an odor bag in the problem area to tide us over until we could fully resolve the issue. At the end of all of this, cost: $0. This is a very thorough consultation for free and we were thankful to have her expertise. Anyway, I came here to thank Critter Control for helping us figure out what to do. Appreciate it! If we need something again I'd definitely call them for help. read more

We have a 100-year old craftsman home with many exterior nooks and crannies for pests like rats, squirrels and birds. Critter Control did some work for us 15 years ago, but we needed a big booster. Tino Pederson, Head estimator of Critter Control reviewed options and provided a menu of preventions to protect our home from unwanted critters. They were prompt and professional. Work was down as agreed. Tino stopped by a week later to review the work with extension ladder and patches up one area that didn't meet his standards. What happened was inspector came and told me crawl space is perfectly fine, doesn't look like any raccoons activities down there, so few days later when technician came and suggested me to re-do the inspection, because he saw something down in crawl space and not match on the report that inspector wrote, (inspector only schedule for set up 2 traps and sanitize). I was a loyal customer of the local Critter Control franchise in Seattle for many years. I purchased their bi-monthly bait stations with periodic rat infestations that they promptly resolved. However, in 2022, the company drastically changed. They are now owned by a publicly traded company (TruTech) who immediately increased prices and replaced the employee-operated phone system with an answering service. I'm not sure what happens to the messages but mine were never acted upon. After hearing rats above my ceiling, I left five phone messages, two emails, and a text message. At the 45 day mark, I finally fired Critter Control and found a highly competent and responsive competitor that was at my house within 24 hours. One of the excuses given by the answering service is that the entire management staff of Critter Control is in continuous meetings the first week of every month. My calls were placed during this period. I can only deduce from this information that if a manager ever does speak to a customer, they will be well-trained. read more

Please don't use Critter Control services. We had an otter den below our jacuzzi room and the otter was using our swimming pool. When the Critter Control / Trutech representative came out, he said they would put up a barrier guaranteed to keep out the otter and set traps, visit every day to review the traps and bait and sanitize the area. All this for $3100! The representative said they had an otter expert and when I asked before signing the contract if sanitizing included removing the feces, he said yes. When the specialist came out, he said he had been on the job for 2 month, that the more experienced person was on leave, that they had only caught 3 or 4 otters in 3 years. The barrier he put up was breached within hours.. He only sprayed the den When asked if the otter was inside, he replied "I don't hear anything". Three traps were left. After we complained that the den opening had been breached, he returned not to fix it but to wire the traps open, since no one could come on the weekend to check them! After more discussion a professional person did come out, he removed the feces he could see, rebaited the traps with bait that had a better chance of trapping, and placed more metal barrier around the den opening. Again they did not return the next day to check the trap. The following day they came and removed the traps! The traps were only viable for 4 days out of the week, and only 2 days with proper bait. THIS COMPANY IS DISHONEST, THEIR INITIAL REPRESENTATIVE GAVE FALSE INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR SERVICES, THEY DID NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR CONTRACT AND CHARGED AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF MONEY. We contacted Critter Control because we were having a serious mole issue in our yard. Moles were literally tearing the yard apart! Critter Control came out to assess the damage and while they were there they "upsale" you with additional services - pest, mice, etc. the price for their "full exclusion repair" was in excess of $4000.00! We bought into the "rodent control" package, even though it was the moles we were having an issue with. We were told that they would bait for moles initially, but would "step up" treatment if there were no results. After 3 treatments of simply baiting - which is what we were doing - there were zero results. At no time did they ever show up with traps. As for the rodent control, that has never been an issue. $624.00 later, for the initial visit and $118.00/ month for 3 months service, we are DONE! total rip off! read more

We are extremely satisfied with the team at Critter Control! After discovering feathers and insulation damage in our fireplace insert, we called Critter Control to investigate. They were able to arrive the same day I called and discovered a wood pecker that had fallen down the chimney while we were out of town. They advised on ways to prevent birds/animals from entering the fireplace in the future and also gave free advice on how to tackle a mole problem in our yard. Mike was the specialist sent out to our home and he was even courteous enough to set a few mole traps and show me the best spots to set up traps in the future. He went above and beyond what was expected and was kind and courteous. read more

The people are nice but the communications between employees (internal) and between employees and customers (external) is unsatisfactory and unprofessional. I expect a top-notch experience. I met the tech Kelly there yesterday [6-22-17] and he said he was there to do the weekly trap check. He didn't know anything about installing the flashing below the gutter to seal the gap, even though in her 6-15-17 email, Amber said, "...We do have you in for Thursday between 3-5 for the construction gap to be repaired..." I showed Kelly where the attic was where the traps were set. He thought it was going to be a crawl space. He should have had notes about what the original tech Mike did on Thu 6-8, that it was in the attic, where the doorkey and garage door opener was, etc. I also showed him where the gap was and he agreed to seal it even though he knew nothing about it. I had to leave but I assume he did the work. I have not received a report of what he found out yesterday. Both Mike and Kelly thought it was in a crawlspace, even though the original request said attic. Their email from 5:02pm 6-22-17 [yesterday] said, "The work at your property has been completed..." but I'm paying for a month's work of inspections and Amber said in her 6-21 email, "...I am e-mailing to let you know we have your weekly trap check in our schedule for Tuesday next week, between 3-5 PM... " That date is to be 6-27-17. read more

We had an ongoing issue with pigeons on our roof (which is three stories and requires a 40ft ladder), I called and scheduled a visit for a quote. Tino came out and took a look, taking pictures for me. He was able to talk me through the pictures, explain what was going on and why I was seeing what I was seeing (spoiler...it wasn't good). He explained what he was going to quote, and why. Explained optional items he was going to add on as well as the pros/cons of each item. By the time I got the quote, I was able to make an educated choice about how to handle the issue. When the fix was scheduled, I was happy to see Tino out again and his whole crew. The fix was completed that day with something like 80lbs of droppings removed (WHAT). Once complete, he walked me through what they did and explained they would be back in the future to check on me. Flash forward one day, and a bird got into the net! I called them, and that same day they were out to fix the issue and get it all secured. I felt very taken care of. Every interaction with both field and admin staff was professional and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Great experience. read more
