Critter Control South Jersey is my new Bestie. I suffered with a prior company more than 2 very pricey years and got no rodent relief (maybe 15 mice caught in traps over all that time?) Critter Control is very $$$$$ expensive, over $3000; but I wasted almost that much money on mouse traps and service calls with the prior company over two years. After agreeing to the plan "C.C. came within days to begin. C.C. went on my new roof and found opening in soffits, and patched all openings. Installed a metal cage over my attic fan on roof. They rebuilt the collapsed paver stoop (and caught the responsible tunnel varmint). Installed one way exits so vermin would go out and not come back inside attic. Put some rat traps in attic and caught flying squirrels. Prior company said: I'm not setting a rat trap- "I could lose a finger"! Cleaned and sanitized the attic. They used poison in the exterior bait boxes, controlling rodents before they get inside. I did have an inadvertent double billing of $1200 for a final treatment, but I think its been remedied? Most companies will not make repairs or patch entry points. I tried for a year to find a contractor to do it with no luck. I felt the price was worth what I might have spent with a contractor to find and fix openings? Downside: very hard to get in touch with the local branch and must go through a toll free national number that never picks up. C.C. sets up monthly appointments without checking and then its complicated to change. I now have a direct ph for James, so will be better moving forward.... However, 2 months in I am not hearing scratching so at least for the money I got results! Woooo Hooooo! read more

We contacted Critter Control to remove a raccoon and her kits from our back patio after being told they would provide a free estimate. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Two technicians arrived and immediately began the removal process without explaining the scope of work or providing any estimate or pricing upfront. The service itself took approximately 30 minutes, after which we were presented with an unexpectedly high bill. Given the lack of prior communication, we felt pressured into paying for a service we had not agreed to at that price. While we are grateful that the raccoons were removed, the job felt incomplete. No cleaning or sanitization was performed, leaving us to address contamination concerns on both our main floor and back deck ourselves--adding further time and expense. Additionally, we were told this was the only service of its kind in our area, which we know not to be the case. Overall, the lack of transparency, communication, and follow-through made this a disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company based on our experience. read more

Ongoing Service Issues and Unresolved Squirrel Infestation - Request for Immediate Resolution I am writing to formally document and escalate an ongoing issue with squirrel activity in my attic and the unresolved service I received. The problem began in November 2025, when I discovered a squirrel infestation in my attic. The attic is not easily accessible from the interior of the home, yet the squirrels were able to enter and cause damage. A sales representative came to my home and assured me that the issue would be fully resolved within one week. That commitment was not fulfilled. Despite multiple follow-ups and complaints, the work was not completed in a timely or proper manner. Over the course of several months, supervisors visited my home on at least two occasions to review the job. On both occasions, it was determined that the work had not been completed correctly or was still unfinished. Nevertheless, the full payment was charged to my credit card immediately. Only a portion of the gutters and exterior of the home were sealed. As a result, the squirrels simply moved to another accessible area of the house where the attic is walkable. Because the exclusion work was incomplete, I had to take matters into my own hands and set traps myself to manage the ongoing infestation. When I contacted the sales representative to express my concerns, I was told it had not been enough time for the traps to work. I explained that trapping alone would not resolve the issue because only part of the home had been sealed, allowing the squirrels to continue entering and causing damage. I was also told that it was "not possible" for the squirrels to cause the level of damage I reported in such a short period of time. I was informed that someone would come to verify my claims, but no one arrived for nearly two weeks. I made repeated calls and left messages, which went unanswered. Throughout the winter months, I received no meaningful follow-up or resolution. Despite the lack of completed work and ongoing service issues, I later received an outstanding invoice for $387.86. I contacted the office to question how an additional charge could be issued when the job was never fully completed, materials were left on-site in boxes, and my repeated requests for follow-up had been ignored. I was again told that a supervisor would be sent out for another inspection. I would never recommend to use this company. read more

The agent and i recorded him told me a grand a day to set the trap and 1400 for the cleanup after i told him to take a hike he email me a different estimate than the verbal one which was way cheaper but still expensive. We live in Philadelphia but I'm not sure where they came from. They charged us over $3000 and said we needed 2 men to do the job - when one came and he said it was an "easy" job we started to get suspicious. The squirrels never went away and they said their guarantee didn't count because the squirrels had made new holes. Basically it was a scam. Very high price to pay for such little work. Further, they do not fulfill their contractual obligations. Paid initial fee of $650 to set up 4 traps and spread some bait for chipmunks. Then they charge $95/month for recurring service. As part of "recurring service" the contract states preventive measures such as sealing entry points are taken. I cancelled agreement after the first $95 charge was paid and asked them to seal entry point. They refused unless I paid an additional $95. In addition, they never came back to remove the traps. Would never recommend them to anybody. read more

This company tried to charge me over $7,000. for 2 hours of outside work. We were unhappy with the 2 hours and canceled the total package, and they charged my credit card double rather than reimbursing! It took me one month dealing with my bank to get my money back. DO NOT USE THEM!! read more

Critter Control of Philadelphia- all the negative reviews are true. They are very poor at responding to customers that have paid for their service. I could see if they weren't paid first. Claim to be wildlife professionals yet don't have any connections to fill in drywall that they drill in. I don't understand the charge for the trap if we don't get to own it. I mean $500 then you take it with you, is that a rental price.Overly priced and I known you can get the same supplies from the wildlife store online. No customer service, half the rodent barrier was exposed, the only installed it 8 inches down, the day after installation the rodents dug right under it. I paid $2100 for something that was worthless and bought better materials at home depot for less than 200$ . I've called them several times starting for 24 hours after installation. I requested their services without checking their ratings first...bad move on my part. These guys came over to remove bats from my attic about 2 years ago and guaranteed me "total exclusion". THOROUGH, PROFESSIONAL and EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGABLE!!! I am writing to highly recommend Critter Control of South Jersey. They are pricey but they are very thorough. My house is still a work in progress but so far I have had excellent ongoing communication with both Nate and James. They are easy to reach and respond in a timely manner. Nate came for an initial assessment for flying squirrels. He was professional and explained the gameplan in detail. Shortly after that, John and Joe came to the house twice -- to install gutter guards on all the house gutters, locate potential entrypoints for the flying squirrels I am contending with, and then checking traps a week later. They scheduled a second visit because they realized they would need additional time and better weather to scale my steep roof which was wet and slick due to cold rains. A week or so later I then realized I may also have a bat problem. Nate came back to assess the house and develop an additional game plan. Yesterday, two young techs came to the house - Carson and another young man(I don't remember his name). They thoroughly checked out my roof and went to work. They were pleasant and informative. After several hours, Carter remained and spent several additional hours checking traps, looking for potential entryway for bats and additional potential entryways for flying squirrels and then setting up oneway doors for each. My nightmare scenario was made less awful by the thorough work of Carson and his reassuring and helpful information. He consulted with his boss throughout the day as he discovered various issues and addressed each of them as he went along. He was professional and extremely knowledgable and hardworking. I should have checked yelp before I hired them. My review is consistent with the others on here. They come in with a hard sell, and their costs are very high. I can live with high cost, however they had multiple delays and never called, they worded the contract so that it did not cover the other rodents which turn out to be the issue. Worst of all, they quoted for the treatment to keep out the bats and rodents and told me the clean up would only be $1,000 once the preventative actions were taken and they removed the pests. Well they came back and quoted me $ 2,500 to clean the attic and another $2,000 to replace the insulation. The sales person admitted the cleaning would only take a couple of hours, so $ 1,250 per hour is trying to take advantage of a customer. I asked him to leave and I will find "anyone" else to clean it out. They are aggressive, they use every sales technique in the business "we have extra insulation from a big house we did, so this is a good price", "I spoke to my boss and we have another house in the area, so we will discount this"...A lot of money spent and my attic still has rodents and needs to be cleaned out. I had these feckless folks out to do a quote on a job with a raccoon in the attic around May. I was told by the responder that the situation was dire, I was going to get roundworm if I stuck around the house, and that it would cost around $5000 total to take care of the problem; approx 1500 to remediate the wildlife issue and approx 3500 to replace all of the insulation in my attic. Because of the cost I of course got competitive bids on the job. Long story short, I called a small local reputable pest control vendor who upon checking out my attic indicated that 1) The animal(s) would leave on their own due to attic heat, 2) there was some activity but they weren't in the attic that long, 3) My attic insulation was just fine, 4) I would basically have to first find, then eat raccoon feces in order to get roundworm. Oh, and he just wanted between $300 and $500 to take care of the issue. Needless to say, he got the job and fortified my attic for around $400. The animals had left on their own before he started, btw. Stay away from Critter Control. These guys are no good. There are plenty of reputable businesses in the area who won't try to cheat you. read more

They advertise all over Google, have a great website and it seems that they know what they're doing from an external point of view. I called them once, left a message. Did not hear back, called back another day and got through. Informed them that I had a bird in my roof that needs to be removed. Took my zip code and put me on hold. Comes back on and says "Sorry we're too busy, we can't help you." I've never known a business to be too busy to not at least offer to schedule an appointment in the future. They did not refer anyone else, nothing. Just said sorry, and hung up the phone. Terrible customer service. read more

I had a full family of raccoons living in my attic. They destroyed it. I was so nervous about how expensive the cleanup would be. First, they were successfully removed and then the cleanup began. Cleanup and closing holes on my roof took only half a day. I interacted with Colleen and Heidi on the phone and had an appointment the very next day. Met with Rob for the estimate, and then Bryan and his crew did the repairs. Ed came a little later to fix a hole that had not been noticed. Every person that I interacted with were pleasant and professional. My exterminator was the one that recommended them and I was very happy that he did. I would highly recommend also. Do NOT use unless you plan on spending a small fortune......VERY EXPENSIVE......They spent approximately 1 hour at my house.....total of 3 visits.......1st visit....5 minutes walked around outside of my house.....15 minutes in my attic.....approx. 10 minutes talking...........came back 4 days later, placed an animal trap on my roof,.....15 minutes...gone........came back a week later, removed trap, placed a cage over my attic fan.....again 15 minutes ( used a screw gun and a few screws).............for approximate 1 hour total.....half hour of it being actual physical..........1 hour total time at my house cost 650.00......they are the biggest rip offs I have ever seen.......a contractor will work a whole day for that amount of money.......Again, do NOT use unless you want to spend a small fortune, for very little actual work.....When I told my family and friends about the cost, they almost fell over....and of course they asked....what the hell did they do for that amount of money......Do yourself a favor, buy a trap at your local Home Depot, and then call animal control, or someone you know, to remove out to the wild. I would not recommend this company. Highly disorganized - except when it comes to collecting your money. I called them to see if they could remediate an animal that had deceased in one of our walls, causing tremendous odor. While their initial find found nothing (we opted not to rip up all of our drywall to find the animal), they set traps both in and outside the home, and sealed the perimeter of our home so nothing could get in. They said to wait 2-3 days before they would remove the traps, and that they would direct me to a solution for minimizing the odor - neither of which happened. I called back (3) times over the next week to get someone out to collect the traps, and ended up thanking Amazon for a great odor reducing product. And the day they were supposed to arrive, they didn't - said they were delayed on another job. So they finally arrive @ (12) days later and the technician was not the same as the first one...and didn't know where his colleague put the traps! Lovely... not to mention he tracked dirt all over my carpet... Finally they complete the job, and I've been hounded for payment constantly since they left. I called critter control because there was a horrible smell in house and exterminator suggested their might be a dead raccoon in the chimney. They said they would charge 300 if they got it out and 200 if they couldn't remove it. The guy arrived and said there was nothing in the chimney but he could obviously smell something in the house so he looked around. Couldnt find anything. Wanted his boss to come out and make sure he wasn't missing something. Boss arrived and looked around. Couldn't find anything. As he was about to leave he saw that someone had left a frozen turkey on the ground in basement, that was the source of the smell. I gave him garbage bags and my nephew took it outside. We joked about it, I tipped him (and the first guy for trying), and he left. The next day my card was charged the 200. I called and talked to a last (can't remember her name, deeper voice), and she very rudely told me that was the service charge for coming out and that they had 2 people come. I told her that I didnt ask for the second guy to come to my house and that they didn't find any critters. She continued to be rude and have a nasty attitude about everything. She ended with, "well we found the source of the smell and tipping was up to you". I told her that she was very rude and even though the 2 guys were as nice as can be their customer service was horrible and that they should call it a service charge when you book them and let people know what its is. Again, a nasty reply after that. I hardly ever write reviews, but I immediately did after this conversation. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging $200 for a service call and train her (Colleen? Maureen?) better on how to talk to people. read more
