TLDR: The staff was rude, snooty, and unaccommodating. I purchased a pair of cognac oxfords and a matching belt from Crockett and Jones' online store. The shoes fit perfectly but the belt was unfortunately one size too small. I live nearby their SoHo store and decided to return the belt there. When I explained this to the store associate, I was told that they wouldn't accept the return in the store and that I would need to return the item myself in order to receive a refund. It is shocking that a brand that charges $800+ for a pair of shoes provides a level of service that is inferior to a Nordstrom. The staff at the store were entirely unaccommodating and even dismissive of a basic request. Nothing luxurious about that experience. I'll be seeking out any of the many other competitors at that price point should I need another nice pair of shoes. read more

Ripoff. Bait and switch. Hearty salesmanship covers deceptive sales approaches, in my opinion. All my experience, of course, can't account for others' takes. Very expensive I still don't know why. Attractive shoes that don't necessarily wear in well, laces too short and loose, fit narrow not wide as salesperson declared, nothing here was helpful or comfortable shoewise or salesperson wise. So I'm stuck with $838 shoes after wearing them twice and the trade in possibilities were even more ill fitting and just uncomfortable. Major disappointment. This review is for the SOHO store. I was looking for shoes for my wedding and I was drawn to the whole cut style. I did brief research on reddit and found a list of the names of the top quality shoe brands. Crocket and Jones drew my attention to their relationship to James Bond and I was drawn to the Alex shoes. My fiancé convinced to get them. we both are not brand snobs, we just like quality long term pieces and this occasion called for it. an associate by the name of John helped me over the phone. My call was informational and I was planning to order off the website but John explained it would be much easier to order from the store and returns would be easier as I could just ship back to the store vs the manufacturer. got the shoes in 5 days and wow they blew me away. they are extremely comfortable which I didn't expect. just wanted to share my thanks for helping me as this was an important purchase for me. This was my first time back to Crockett and Jones in over a year. The new location is fabulous and the employees are professional and inviting. I went in the store looking for the Pembroke Derby shoe and was promptly helped and given a few sizes to try on to ensure a perfect fit. I walked out with an outstanding shoe sure to stand the test of time. Oh but that is not all...I also had in mind of getting a Harvard loafer in a now discontinued color. The store had one pair in stock but it was a bit too large for my foot. Yoni then took it upon himself to call the remaining C&J stores around the world to see if any of them had that loafer in stock. And today I got the great news that one store had it!! I just ordered it and a couple of pairs of shoe trees and I can not be more thrilled with the experience. This has truly been a worthwhile experience and as long as I keep coming back to New York City I too will continue coming to C&J and buying a new pair of shoes. I am one satisfied customer and recommend anyone looking for a new pair of shoes to please stop by Crockett and Jones. C&J fanatic ************* This review is based on the high craftsmanship of their shoes and not their store. Since there is only one boutique in America, I order these by telephone order. They are on the bit pricey side but the level of finishing is in a different league. Brits over Italians anyday when it comes to men's oxfords. No comparison. I absolutely love my C&J s. Anthony is the best, hands down. (Though the other staff members are great as well) I'm a younger guy in my early 20s so not their typical clientele. I know my shoes, but was concerned I might receive sub-standard treatment. This was definitely not the case. Anthony came over, shook my hand, and helped me find what I was looking for. He measured my feet (crucial- they have a different size scheme than most brands) and quickly came back with a few pairs. I walked out with two Handgrade cap-toes (definitely recommend over the standard line) and my wallet $1800 lighter. I also back-ordered a beautiful pair of Handgrade brogues to be picked up in the future. I was beyond impressed by the level of professionalism and service I received. Fantastic service! I purchased a pair of the Coniston boot at the beginning of 2016. The transaction was done on the phone. The boots arrived carefully packed. I love them and wear them a lot. Then I got hooked. I tried several other pairs of boots but ended up ordering another pair of the Coniston boot, but in black. This was a custom order so a little more patience was required. Pretty amazing shoes. Huge variety. Best quality I have ever worn in my life. If you are looking for extremely comfortable shoes, like Ecco, then perhaps these will not measure up to your expectations. But the styles and highest quality construction make up for it in my opinion. However, very very expensive. If you ever joked about women spending so much money on Louboutin (with red soles), you may get too embarrassed to own these. As I finish this review, given the cost and comfort standards not measuring up to Ecco, I will remove a half star reluctantly; so 4.5 stars it is. read more

I went to the NYC store with high expectations. My only other experience was at one of the stores on Jermyn St. in London where I bought a pair of Audley's. The customer service at the London store was impeccable, even though I was clearly not a Brit. I have been to the NYC store twice. First time I was there for 10 minutes looking at shoes; I was the only customer there. There were 3 sales people in the store, yet not a single one of them asked if I needed help. They seemed to be only interested in each other. Second time I went in knowing what I wanted to try on and was eager to purchase. I barely even got a smile from sales person who helped me. The price was at least $100 more than what one could buy in the UK (after currency translation and VAT refund) or online in the US. After explaining that I already owned a pair of Audley's purchased in London and was very familiar with the product, the sales person still talked down to me about how this was a British shoe and the price is what it is. It was simply not a good experience. I love C&J shoes, and am willing to spend $600-$700 on a pair of them. But, I won't do so with such poor customer service. read more

These shoes are the best in every way. One of the best things about them is they are consistent. If you are a size 91/2 in the last #337 (or whatever last fits your foot), then you which styles you can choose from - In terms of style, these are not Italian, but they are the best of class in craftsmanship, quality of leather, and overall value. I say they are a value in terms of comparing C & J hand grade to John Lobb or some REALLY expensive alternatives. The sales team is knowledgeable and friendly. They are very capable and not too "commission-based" meaning they will tell you to pick which is better versus just what is more expensive. I am now 6 pairs into this brand and I will be hard pressed to buy any other shoes unless I want style over substance. read more

I have 3 pairs of crockett and Jones, 2 bought in the Brussels stores and one recently bought in the London one. The service in the New York shop is not at all the Crockett and jones standard you can find in Brussels or London. No support, no feet measurement, no help to put the shoes on, no recommendation or explanation. The store was empty and the 3 members of the staff talking to each other. I asked a question about a model I couldn't find in the store but saw on the web site and they didn't even know it exists. I don't think they really know what their shoes are. Buy it from England directly when it's the sale period and it will cost you 30% less and you'll have a fantastic service read more

After a depressing and unsuccessful visit to Hermes (where you can walk in determined to buy a pair of shoes and somehow be convinced to walk out empty-handed), I came to C&J with my wife. In the midst of the utter frenzy and chaos of Madison Ave on a Saturday, this place is like a temple of calm and civilization. Music is low. Vibe is good. Atmosphere is golden (literally, the wood gives off a glow). Only a few people around. The shoes are just beautiful, and very, very well-made. All Goodyear-welted, etc. The selection, from what I saw, is highly respectable, from the variations in colors to the different lasts and styles offered. What's more, the sales staff, to echo others, is so, so refreshing. One comes to accept it as an inevitable side-effect of buying nice clothing in NY that you will likely get condescending, judgmental, and generally crap service. This is especially true around Madison Ave given the tourist/browser quotient. It's like paying a tax on already expensive attire. C&J reminds you what a difference excellent service makes. You select your styles and guess your sizes, and the staff happily accommodates. You're seated and the staff helps you put on the shoes one at a time, asks you to walk around and see how they feel, and discusses each style, last, and aspect of construction with you, as far as you want to discuss it. They are knowledgeable as hell. They are gentlemanly. Yes, this exists in NY. By the end of it my wife was wishing she could buy shoes there. And I knew to a certainty that I would be buying more. read more

Had a great shopping experience here on Saturday. My wife and I went shopping for a pair of shoes needed for an event that evening. The sales person was very helpful, recommending different variations on the same shoe that I had chosen and giving us an informative history of crockett and jones. Note that note all C&J sales people are equal. I neglected to get our sales person's name --but the receipt says 'cashier 003'. When we first walked in the store the a guy who is not 003, scurried to the back of the store. We were a bit list until 003 appeared. Anyway, we will definitely go back. While growing up in Toronto, Canada during my early 20's, I was gently persuaded to try on and then purchase my first pair of C& J shoes. They fit like a glove and still do to this day!!. That was almost 50 years ago, and I still wear them on special occasions, ie. weddings, graduations etc. Call me a traditionalist, but nothing beats the looks of a great pair of shoes, (take a look at Brad Pitt in his new movie) quality and style says it all, not to mention a great investment. The very best shoe you will ever buy. The most comfortable, long lasting, and stylish also. As for the price, all excellent shoes cost money. At C & J, you get what you pay for, not some slick, uncomfortable, poorly made Italian shoe that will wear out in a year, which you can buy for the same price or more. The only problem is, once you start to where shoes of this caliber, you will never be satisfied with a lesser shoe again, and you also tend to notice what horrible shoes everyone else is wearing. Believe me, though, people might not know what you're wearing, but they'll notice. Absolutely great shoes - I'd give 5 stars for those. The 2 stars is for the terrible service. Anytime I have ordered shoes via the phone I have had to call... and call... and call and then follow up. I have ordered two pairs of shoes where I needed a size that had to be made at the factory. The more recent shoes I ordered were estimated to take 8 to 10 weeks. Around the 8 week point, I call and find out its going to be a few more weeks. 3 weeks later I call and find out that they should be shipping next week. 3 more weeks go by and I call again to find out that the shoes have arrived and they are shipping them today. read more

short of custom lasts, these are some of the best dress shoes you can buy. of course, there's better bang for the buck out there, but if you're going to splurge $700+ on a pair, these are the ones to get. skip the department/designer stores. the leather conforms to your feet like real cow hide should and your feet could really feel the difference, even compared to $300-$500 dollar shoes. also, i agree that the staff here is very helpful. they don't pressure you and are very friendly. i will definitely come back next time i'm in the market for dress shoes. read more
