Paulson's preparation recommendations were very helpful - we knew ahead of time to clear any and all artwork on walls between the front door and the rooms being carpeted. It involved not only sanding and refinishing, but leveling the kitchen floors and lacing in new wood with the old in multiple places, several patches, installing all new baseboards, and some creative problem-solving to work the quarter round around the floor vents. He also built a new cover for my crawl space entry to match the flooring around it. Throughout the job, Mike was responsive, friendly, patient, respectful, and worked with a high level of integrity and transparency. He was genuinely fantastic to work with - I never felt like I was being brushed off or taken advantage of (as opposed to some other contractors I've encountered). As well, there was no informing me that I would have to pay a service fee when I called just to come look at the recliner. So Note To Self if you ever need this gentleman for his services and I'm sure he would've fixed it if he could have, you're going to have to pay a service fee. I then went to their website link. I filled out a form requesting service and described my repair. I have an electric recliner that was coming loose. I could tell that nuts needed to be tightened and it was to the point that one had worked its way off. I received a text on my phone, fairly quickly, that said we do these kinds of repairs all the time. When would I be available on Friday (the 20th) which was the next day. I responded and they said the repair would be $150. I thought that was very expensive, but it needed to be done and I did not know who else to contact. So I agreed. Yesterday morning the young man who came was a little late but did get to my house, within the appointed hour. He was respectful and well mannered. He was well prepared with tools. He was Ukranian and spoke little English. He did have a translating app on his phone. He quickly did a good job, tightening all the nuts and I paid him in cash. I do think it was a bit of a pricing gouge, but the work seems well done and quick. And in comparison to the money spent on my chair and the life I will get out of it, it is a small price. The gentleman's name was Oleksander Tatsiuk and was with NextGen (Not Mr. B's)

I had a great experience with this company. I just moved from the Bronx into an old home in Westchester that has gorgeous floors. Though, they required a lot of work to bring them back to glory. I called this company and got a fast appointment for an estimate. The price was right, so the following week the job was started. i dealt directly with the owner which was nice when I had questions because they could be answered right on the spot. He was very easy to contact throughout the few weeks that he worked on our home. When the floors were finished, they came out better than i could ever expect! I am so glad I decided to get them refinished instead of covering them! If you have old floors that need repaired and refinished, this is a great company. The workers are friendly and effiicient and NEAT!! I was so pleased with how neat the crew was. I mean it did not matter so much to me because we were not living there yet, but great for someone who is living in the home when the work is being done. Cudos to you guys! read more

Cromwell did a superb job of scraping a hundred years of history and grime off my pre-war brownstone studio apartment floor, uncovering beautiful wood grain. Looks like a brand new wood floor. At Ray's suggestion, the wood was treated with oil instead of poly, and the soft luster is gorgeous. (Oil finish lasts for longer than poly.) I went away for 2 weeks while he did the work. First I wrapped up precious books and objects (and winnowed my belongings at the same time). They wrapped the rest, taped closet doors and cupboards, and did half of the floor at a time, moving the furniture from one side to the other. Ordinarily I'd like to stick around to oversee a project, but I had confidence in Ray and Vanessa. This was a completely wonderful experience. Project Manager Rick shepherded us through the whole process, patiently answering all our questions, helping us secure hard to find materials and overall going above and beyond. The installation team was also incredibly impressive. Ivan and his crew were not only fast, but also went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. Customer service like this is hard to find. Look no further; this is the A-Team.

I'll keep this as brief as possible and stick to the facts. Macadam installed new carpet for us. It…read morewasn't a small job: we paid around $13k for it. We worked with Angel in the office, Sean in the field, and Jessica ran the carpet crew that performed the install. The morning of the install, Sean informed us they couldn't find the carpet. They lost the carpet! We had the house all boxed up, our dog and kids were away for the day, and we even had professional movers over to help disassemble and move a large entertainment center. Macadam eventually found our carpet, but two weeks had passed by the time it was able to get installed. This was not the only issue we had with Macadam. First, the crew took pictures of themselves pretending to play my son's guitar (and other similar pictures with our things). Jessica said they take pictures like that sometimes for their professional social media accounts. It made me very uncomfortable. Second, they damaged and repaired our bedroom door and never told us. The repair work is highly visible (at least it's low on the door). Third, there are visible seams in the carpet. Fourth, when they attempted to repair the seams, they asked if they could cut carpet from another part of the house to use in the repair. We said no. They ignored our wishes and cut carpet from several rooms when we weren't around. We know this because (a) they left carpet scraps from the cutting and (b) the area where the carpet meets the wall looks worse than before. Fifth, the carpet they cut from was in rooms with closed doors, including a bedroom and walk-in closet with laundry and pets. They entered closed off rooms without asking and performed work we said not to do. Sixth, even after the repair, there are still visible seams in the carpet. Seventh, we let Angel know about all these issues and Macadam offered what we consider to be an inappropriately small reduction to our bill (including a small cash discount and not charging us for moving furniture). FWIW, our interior designer, who has a lot of experience working on projects like this, thought a 50% reduction in the total bill was appropriate just based on the hassle caused by the lost carpet (ripple effect with other projects we had going on). She didn't know about any of the other issues when she made that statement. Given that the quality of the work was far below our expectations, the incompetence around losing the carpet, directly ignoring our wishes w/r/t cutting the carpet, and the invasion of privacy from entering closed rooms and taking pictures with our belongings, we will not use Macadam for a carpet project again. Moreover, I wouldn't let anyone from that crew back in my house for any reason. Two stars because even though this project fell far below our expectations, it's still nice carpet.
