After browsing the shelves, and taking a seat in their reading area, I decided to go with a book that has been unfortunately banned, The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison. So glad I got the last copy and it was a great price. I would have chosen Mary Oliver's, New and Selected Poems, but they didn't have volume one and I'd prefer to start there. This independent bookstore has been a pop-up bookstore since 2023 and had its grand opening in October of last year. They are located next to a popular coffee shop that is loved by the community. They sell new and used books. The used books are color-coordinated at the top of each shelf. They also sell gifts, stickers, bookmarks, and at the checkout counter, you'll find a passport book where you can track your reading journey. It's really cute. Be sure to grab your free bookmark on your way out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They definitely don't mind taking a moment to help you find what you're looking for.

My daughter and I always head over to Play on The Strand with our pockets full of quarters. We head straight to the back and hit up the arcade. They've got some pinball machines back there along with a couple of arcade games. We fill their machines up with quarters then check out all the cool toys they have. They have a lot of cool toys in there and my daughter seems to always sucker me into buying her something when we leave. I always enjoy supporting small businesses here in Galveston, and their toys are of good quality. I highly recommend a visit to anyone who visits The Strand. I was looking for some philosophy books and the attendant led me right to them. I was happy to see that the prices were reasonable and within my budget. This helps when you're a bibliophile like me.
