Plenty of parking in the lot attached to this spot! The interior is small, but very nicely done! It was VERY festive for the holiday season! I understand it was the night before a holiday, but they were definitely understaffed. The three staff members (2 servers and a bartender) were, at times, sprinting through the restaurant to keep everyone happy! They did it with a smile too! Kudos to them, but management should help them out with additional staff on busy days. (We had a reservation for 10 people, they knew it was going to be busy). The food and drinks were alright...the Brandy Old Fashioneds weren't very boozy and the fish fry, while cooked well, didn't have any special flavor. We also waited almost an hour for our appetizers: cheese curds, calamari fries, and zucchini blossoms. I will say that the broasted chicken looked very good, but I didn't have any! Overall, a good bar if you're in the area and wanted some drinks/food but I don't know that it's worth a special trip!

Once it's your turn to be seated, the buzzer will go off and away you go. Since it was Friday, we had to go with a fish fry. There's plenty of options - walleye, bluegill, perch, haddock, frog legs, and all you can eat pollock. Love that they had both german potato salad as well as potato pancakes as side options. We opted for the haddock and the walleye. Both were excellent although the haddock breading was a little soggy and pulling away from the fish-most likely a sign the fish was damp before breading or covered while resting. My walleye was breaded to perfection. For the price, you definitely don't walk away hungry. Our server checked in a few times and was pleasant. Overall, just a fun place smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Cheap drinks. Good food. Friendly staff. How it is supposed to be.

I called in an order to go for a four piece cod dinner with seasoned waffle fries and cheese curds as an appetizer. Unlike so many other restaurants that serve crappy cornmeal breaded cheese curds that don't get crunchy and retain too much grease, the cheese curds at Nuckleheadz are true breaded cheese curds that get perfectly crunchy. I wish every every restaurant would serve the right kind like Nuckleheadz does, but I guess that's one of the things that makes Nuckleheadz special. Speaking of special, I LOVE it when the breading on fish has herbs and/or spices mixed in. It just gives the fish a little something extra. The herbs that Nuckleheadz puts in the batter they use on their cod (maybe their other fish too, I'm not sure) are phenomenal. I'm not usually big on cod, but I'm big on their cod because of it. Seasoned waffle fries are the king of all fries so that was a no-brainer. The weekly specials they post on social media often intrigue me and the hangover hash appetizer sounds fantastic (tater tots covered with bacon, nacho cheese, shredded cheese, and fried eggs), so I look forward to ordering that the next time I dine-in on a day that isn't Friday and I can't wait to get the fish fry again on a Friday with the best cheese curds around.

The bar/restaurant is located in the back of the house in what could be considered the basement. Still, this place is not divy. The beautiful wood interior makes this place feel very warm and cozy. There is a bar area with high top tables and two dining areas with booths and tables, as well as an enclosed outside patio area. When we went, they had a nice fire going in their outdoor fire pit, which made for a nice place to gather and enjoy the night air. We did not have any food from here, only cocktails, but the bar service was fairly quick, and the drinks were good.

My only nitpicks are that the pizza is kinda hard to hold because of its flimsiness, which is just par for the course with this style of pizza, and the pepperoni was really greasy, which is par for the course for any pizza of any kind. Also, bonus points for a quiet, inviting atmosphere, making it sensory-friendly for my Nana and I who are on the autism spectrum.

On this particular visit I got my favorite: lasagna pizza with garlic knots. If you mix together the large dollops of sauce, meat, and ricotta cheese on the lasagna pizza, then close your eyes and take a bite, you'll almost forget you're eating pizza and not actual lasagna. It's heavenly. The garlic knots are soft and they don't skimp on the garlic. I'm also a big fan of their stuffed sausage and pepperoni pizza, which has mozzarella cheese and ricotta cheese in it too with sauce on the side instead of in the pizza. My wife enjoys their mac and cheese pizza. The Sal's in West Bend is far superior to the one in Hartford. The slice selection in Hartford is usually very basic and limited in comparison and the garlic knots are smaller with less garlic on top. The Sal's in West Bend is worth the drive even if Hartford's location is closer to you.
