The food was very good. We ordered the broasted chicken and ribs. Don't get the mashed potatoes they were kinda like store bought. Also got the spicy chili that turned out to be sweet. lol. With canned jalapeño. I think my issues was the ambiance. There wasn't any. And the service felt like a Denny's. We had Beth who seemed to want to get us in and out as soon as possible. Will NEVER order steak at this place again. I ordered med. rare filet and it came very rare and very cold. Sent it back and it came back with a small portion correct and the rest still rare. Sent it back again to get it back over done and burned. It was a $43 steak and the "best they could do" was $15 off? I couldn't even eat it. And then, I was told that if I was going to send the steak back twice then they couldn't help it if it wasn't right - which to me implies that somehow this steak fiasco was my fault? I know this restaurant is crowded all the time, but this really left me feeling like they have had success so why try to keep one unhappy person feeling like they would want to come back. If I could give more stars, I would! We had the best experience last night as we celebrated my Mom and Dad's 70th Wedding Anniversary. I dropped off flowers, balloons and 'Cheers to 70 Years' napkins and asked Deb (owner/hostess) if they could be used at our table and during our dinner. Vickie was our waitress and was fabulous, she had many tables but we always had what we needed when we needed it and shared a few laughs along the way. Most of us had steaks, one had stuffed shrimp and another beef tips which were all cooked to our liking. There were three different soups, which my Mom sampled a bit from each and couldn't pick her favorite; French Onion, Seafood Chowder and Cream of Asparagus. By parents enjoyed Grasshoppers for dessert and a few had cheesecake. To top it off Rich (owner/chef) came out to wish them a happy anniversary too. This is a wonderful Supper Club-type restaurant. There is a nice bar and several large rooms of tables. The menu is extensive and the food is very good. Not inexpensive, but cost is expected for this type of upscale eatery. The service was excellent. Advise to make a reservation, even on a weeknight. Came here for dinner, love that it's close to downtown port Washington. For appetizers I had the cheese curds and fried onions. Both were delicious. I ordered the full salad (massive serving size for only $7!) and a side of fries for my entree. Fries were crispy and delicious, the salad was next level. I'm still shocked how big it was! So many topping egg, celery, red onion, cheese, etc. definitely a re-order. The real star of the show is their bread, wow, it's amazing and delicious, and I would go back just for this. Also, definitely need to get pie for dessert. I was so full at dessert time but still ordered their chocolate cream pie, it was almost a cheesecake texture, so thick with an Oreo crust. I finally think they found a good fit for this spot! From what I understand, the chef from Newport Shores is here, if you have been missing their food since they closed. I was pleasantly surprised to see how full their parking lot was on a Sunday evening. We decided to eat at the bar, my preference if it just two people. I find bartenders can provide great insight into a restaurant. I ordered their Sunday special smoked chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and some steamed veggies. I had been craving baked French onion soup and heard it was great here, so I got that with my meal. It was only a dollar to upgrade from the regular soup or salad and absolutely worth it! There was a nice layer of baked cheese on top of some croutons and the rich soup. It was delicious! So was the smoke chick. I was not expecting a half a chicken for that price. My friend Brenda ordered the crab stuffed shrimp which also came choice of potatoes. Brenda went with the mashed potatoes and gravy. She also chose the salad with peppercorn Parmesan dressing. She said it was fantastic. We both really enjoyed our food and the service was quite good considering how busy they were. The interior was warm and inviting, well lit, clean and quite charming. We will definitely be back on a Thursday or Saturday to try their prime rib special. If you are ever in the area, I'd highly recommend this place. The Plier's have a great thing going with this gem in Port Washington! The hostesses and waitstaff were so very accommodating, the bartenders were awesome, but the food was the star of the show! I was so happy to see the Friday night fish fry as a lightly battered fish not the usual thick batter that hides the fish. The seafood chowder was everything I remembered. Stopped during a long day on the road. The place was crowded but we got right in. Unfortunately we were sat next to two separate birthday parties. This made for a very loud dinner. We both had a couple of burgers. I had the blt burger. It was slightly over cooked but with the large party groups I didn't mind and it came pretty quick. Burgers were good and we both opted for tater tots as a side. Word of warning, the burgers are messy. You may want to knife and fork it. We also split an order of fried cheese curds. These were very good but a choice if dipping sauce would be great. Not the biggest fan of ranch and everyone does that. Took home the creme brulee cheese cake which tasted excellent.
