The fries were lightly salted, but were otherwise just boring, plain potato. Apparently 6pm on a Friday is a horrible time to visit Brazen Head Pub if you want to be seated in a reasonable timeframe. My son and I stood there for at least 20 minutes watching a table that was done eating and the gentleman and his credit card in hand, ready to pay if someone would ever stop and give him his bill. While this was going on, another couple at the bar finished their food and sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for their check. It's almost as if the employees had no desire to turnover tables even with a line at the door including and behind us. There were three people bartending/waiting tables so they had plenty of coverage given the smaller size of the place. At one point, closer to the end of our meal, one of the bartenders looked at my son and I and asked "are you guys good?" as he was literally walking away from us and I was holding up an empty soda glass to show him I'd like a refill. Oddly, he gave me a thumbs up and kept going. I don't even know what to make of that other than poor service. The music that was playing was excessively loud. If it was a live band, I'd get it, that's part of the show and I wouldn't complain. For random music on speakers to drown out all conversations unless you're yelling, that's dumb.

We were questioning each other where the lobster was in the mac and overheard the waitstaff talking to what sounded like a regular that they ran out of lobster. I appreciate that they came with both syrup and applesauce by default because I will always ask for syrup for my potato pancakes and having applesauce too is a bonus. I'd venture that most places that serve perch do it with beer batter. Having it breaded with cornmeal was certainly different. I don't think the breading accentuated the flavor of the perch like beer batter does and maybe even covered it up more than I would have liked, but I enjoyed the crispiness it achieved. The menu didn't specify lake perch or yellow perch, so I was expecting something cheaper like pike perch when it said the meal came with five pieces. Instead, it was yellow perch, which is fantastic, but I find it odd they give you two and a half butterflies instead of a full three. Raise the price a little if you need to and give us the full third butterfly.
