Once a thriving shopping mall, it is now close to its end, with many of the stores and shops closed permanently. The SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh is a very modern and clean hotel near the stores and restaurants still open in the area. Be careful driving into the hotel, as the roads leading into the hotel are full of massive potholes, so you have been warned. This hotel is a suites hotel and has most of the amenities that the brand usually has. This includes meeting rooms, a large lobby, a pool, a well-equipped fitness room and a very good free breakfast. My King suite was laid out in the typical SpringHill Suites format. The room has a living room that separates the bed from the desk with a wall. The bathrooms are clean and bright and have a good ceiling fan. There is a small area when you enter the room where you'll find a mini-refrigerator, coffee stations and a microwave. The rooms also have some modern touches, such as USB outlets and other easily accessible electrical outlets for more devices. The wifi is your standard Marriott Wi-Fi, with an additional tier for Gold members and above at no charge. The breakfast included hot and cold choices as well as fresh fruits, cereals, oatmeal and other items. During my visit, I had a good selection of eggs and meats to choose from. Overall, a great experience, in a modern suites-style hotel, with helpful staff and great amenities. Just watch out for the potholes when you drive in and out of the hotel.
